“I purchased two suitcases online and picked both up in the store. After submitting my order, I realized I forgot to apply my $10.00 reward. When I picked them up, I asked the clerk I could return one and repurchase it using my reward. I was told I could.
It was a HUGE surprise, AFTER the refund had been completed, to discover the return value was LESS than the actual purchase price. Upon closer examination of my original purchase receipt when I got home (which was online, not a printed), it does state that the return price is less than the purchase price. In total, I ended up paying MORE for the same item AFTER I used the reward money! How can this be even LEGAL???
The return amount should be the SAME as the purchase price, unles there is a clearly stated "reshelving" fee, which there was not the case! There was NO mention of a reshelving charge ANYWHERE!
JCPenney is a RIPOFF!

“I have shopped at JC Penny for decades, with very few issues Until my shopping trip on 8/17/24. On this trip I fell in love with their Liz claiborne wide leg cropped jeans, and they were 40% off, to my delight! However, they didn't have my size, therefore, I had to order them online. I placed the order, and my total was a whopping $71.28! When I asked the salesperson what happened to the 40% discount, I was advised that the discount was for in store purchases only, per their policy! I was flabbergasted, and I never knew there was such a policy! I expressed my disappointment, as it was not my fault they didn't have my size in the store. I was also told that they couldn't cancel the order, in the store, and that I had to wait 24 hours before I could cancel the order. I called customer service today, and was advised that they could not cancel my order, and to contact the store, who always had the ability to cancel the order in the store. I am very disappointed in how JC Penny makes a difference in their customers, with respect to discounts, and the run around that I am getting with respect to rectifying this situation. I can say that I will have to think long and hard before I shop there again!”
“Several times I have placed online orders and received whatever they felt like shipping, not what was ordered. I've also received a package for a recent order and all that was shipped was a bunch of plastic. Customer Service tried to say it was tampered with, but it was sealed. They just stuffed a bunch of plastic in the package and shipped it.
I was able to get a refund, but because the representative refused to resend the item without me placing a new order the item is now sold out.”
“Their socks are not the same as they use to be. I bought black socks 4yrs ago and they were thicker and probably 90-100% cotton. Now jcpenney is saying their not all cotton. I bought new socks this past week and the socks aren't thicker and very poorly made now. Must be the inflation and poor fabric they're using now”
“Today is Monday, August 13, 2024. I have been outside waiting for my order since 5:45 pm. They cancel the first time after 30 minutes. They asked you to come back later. I went HEB and shopped for thirty minutes. Now, I have checked in again. The story now is there is a problem with the order and there will be another delay. It's now 7:09 pm and I'm still waiting. No one has come out yet. At 7:10 pm it says to come into the store. Is this the way you treat your customers with handicaps, young children, cripple and disabled. Wow, you guys need to close down permanently.”
“Is this company even serious? My fiance ordered my wedding band july 20th. It is august 9th and after making a phone call to see where my ring is. He is informed it's no longer in stock he will receive refund. Wedding Is in 16 days and now we have to go out shopping for another ring. Great customer service you have. “I placed an order online and paid extra to have the order quick shipped as I live an hour from the closest store and needed the item for an upcoming trip. When I received the item it still had the security tag on it! So I had to end up driving to the store anyway. When I contacted customer service they just said so sorry for the inconvenience and they would make a note of it! No offer for reimbursement! I’ll think twice before I ever purchase from them again. “This is a horrible company. They used a 3rd party delivery service to deliver the package that we ordered our kids school clothes through, I had to file a police report because it was their protocol and I keep getting a run around saying the shipping address was right. They hired a cheap 3rd party service that delivered to the wrong house and forged a signature. They haven’t made it right . Been an on going issue for a week”
“We arrive an hour before closing my son had a coupon for highlights which expired same day. No one was waiting for stylist she said it would take 30 min but she didn't have time. I said would they honor coupon next day she said no. NOT RETURNING.”

“First off I'm a loyal JC Penney shopper, store employees are amazing. Products are high quality an reasonable priced. For customer service that's another story. I ordered a men's big an tall shirt size large an I received a boys size medium shirt. I understand mistakes happen but when I call customer service they told me I ordered a boys med shirt. They would not admit it was there mistake they told me I ordered the boys size medium. Not the case, an then they told me without an email address they will not take the shirt back. Beware of ordering on the phone with customer service they don't pay attention to what you order”

There was an elderly man in front of me trying to get a refund. He brought in a pair of sandals. The associate would not give him a refund. He was refused the refund because they said he did not have the box for the sandals. He was clearly frustrated and told the associate that he was sold the sandals without a box.
He even had the receipt along with the sandals. If this is the way you treat your customers, I don't plan on returning to your store ever again. I will also tell my family and friends what I experienced.
It was a cruel thing you did to the poor elderly man.

“I purchased a pair of cute womens jeans April 17th while on vacation in California. After returning home to South Dakota I decided I didn’t care for the amount of stretch and wanted to return them. Since Penny’s have closed so many stores the closest store is 90 miles away. Today, July 16th is the first time I’ve had time to get up to Fargo. Guess what, they won’t allow returns beyond 60 days😬. That would be fine if we had a store closer. Guess we don’t need to shop JC Penny in the future!”
