“The sales lady offered me the opportunity to open an account and after 45 minutes on phone, it was declined. I previously had one ( not used 2 years as I am Canadian and could not come to the US during covid) I was then told it will then be renewed and sent to my Canadian address. Three weeks passed, no card. I called customer service, the agent could not help and his superior did not pick up phone! Poor service all around. Returning bought merchandise on which I would have had 35% off as promised by salesperson.t”
“I input my correct shipping address on the website when I ordered my item, but I paid with PayPal, so JC Penny changed my shipping address to the PayPal address (which was not my current address and all the way across the country from where I live).
When I found out what I happened, I called them immediately and they refused to do anything to help, even though it was their fault the whole thing happened. The customer service reps were extremely rude and kept telling me to call UPS to change the address. When I called UPS, they said JC Penny has to change the address. When I told the customer service rep this, they refused to believe it and told me to change it at UPS even though it doesn't work. It was like talking to a brick wall made of stupidity.

“I ordered an expensive comforter that I did days of research on due to horrible allergies. JCPenny sent me the wrong color 3xs! Even after making notes on my account to check stock before sending. Gas back to the store, gas to go to the hub, call after call after call and I was very patient. NOW the 3rd wrong delivery shows up so I ask for a supervisor just to get sent to the escalation department to be told "if you reorder it again you're probably not going to get the right color." Huh, wtf? I Asked her why, and she said something stupid about them maybe they changed their dye.... WTF! And then said "again I'm so sorry, you got the wrong color what else can I help you with today?" If it wouldn't hurt my credit to just close it, I would just close it! If it weren't for the fact that they were trying to force me to take something I don't like or want I would just keep it, but light gray is not black! “Davenport jcpennys. I worked here and the management is bad and likes to choose favorites. This has to be the most boring job ever. They like to stick u at the cashier where nobody goes ALL DAY and just forget about you. You could leave the store and they wouldn’t notice. I got yelled at for wearing leggings but the other ladies who were wearing leggings didn’t. So unprofessional! We always cut these stickers from the roll downstairs, so when I was upstairs I looked and it wasn’t done. So I started to cut them so it be easier to just grab and go. But my coworker saw this and ran over to me and said “ we do not do that, you needa stop” in front of many customers. Don’t even get me started about the bathrooms 🤮. Always has poop or pee on the toilets. Always stinks even after they “ clean”. Half the doors don’t lock. This jcpenny is by far the worst company I’ve ever worked with. DO NOT APPLY HERE!!!”
“I took my children to take pictures at JC Penny at 360 Gateway Drive Brooklyn NY 11239 and the staff was horrible. I know you may be thinking oh it's children what do you expect. No the photographer had no patience at all. She actually set a timer on her phone and told us we only had 10 minutes to take pictures. So in my mind I'm like this is not our first rodeo I have been taking pictures with my children here for the past 8 years and a timer was never set. I'm thinking maybe their about to close but no its 4 p.m so they can't be closing. I remembered when I took my daughter's pictures for her birthday the floor which is a back drop had rolls in them and they showed in her pictures so I tried to change rooms so that I could see whether the floor was like that in each room. It was all the same so that annoyed the photographer. So now we start the session and the way she was rushing to take the pictures was unbelievable. She took a total of 13 pictures and none of them came out nice. I don't understand why the session was rushed. This will be my last time ever taking pictures with JC Penny.”
“I entered the mid rivers JC Penny store at 11am to return a jewelry item. There was one store employee at the jewelry counter waiting on a customer. The associate called a manager over to help with the transaction and after completing her assisting the manager walked away without any acknowledgement of me standing there for the past 15 minutes. After completing her assistance of the other customer the associate came to me to attempt to assist until 2 other customers walked up to which the associate walked away from me and called for assistance to help the other customers. When I questioned why she called for assistance for them and not for me she claimed her reason was because she was "waiting on a customer and couldn't stop to call anyone" yet she interrupted her assisting ME to call someone. It took me 23 minutes to return an item, which to me was OUTRAGEOUS!! The manager was INCOMPETENT and apparently does not know what 'customer service' is by allowing a customer to wait for as long as I did. I will NEVER shop at JC Penny nor will I EVER order online from a JC Penny store again!”

“I saw two cute kid dresses priced at 70% off. Went to pay asked to have her check the price because they were in the 70% off. The lady just rang them up and gave me the price to pay and I asked if that was with the discount she said no. So I reminded her she said prove it so I told her to the rack they were hanging on, with other just like them, she said no it’s only for these ones and pointed to the other dresses on the same rack. I said the tag says 70% off she just said nope and so I did not buy them. She then said I can give you a small discount is said no I want the discount that the store has advertised them. Bait & switch! Fraud! It has happened alot in the past year at this location!”
“I just closed my JCP account after 45 years! In November, I sent my husband a JCP link for a sweater that I would like for my birthday. JCP has closed the store nearby and I don't use my JCP credit card very often and evidently the credit card was saved in my account. I'm the person who pays the bills but we never received a bill in December and then we received a bill with a late fee and interest in January. It is difficult to get to a real person and everything is automated on the website but I completed a dispute form and then received a response that they HAD sent a December invoice and I still owed the additional fees. So, my $29 sweater ended up costing us $61! I only shop JCP occasionally online, at which time I will just use a regular credit card.”

“JC Penny is unfortunately looking like they are on their way out. The stores are a mess. The merchandise is always everywhere and their employees, while very nice, are subject to the archaic policies that JC Penney has in place. For instance, they are always offering coupons and then when you go to use the coupon there is always a reason why you can't. They just are not to the level of what you would expect a nice department store to be. They refuse to remove a late fee that was 4 hours late. I get it that it's my responsibility. But totally forgot. When I called I was told that was not possible. Really? I pay my bill monthly. And I can tell you this I will pay that late fee and I am never shopping JC Penney again. Policies that are not customer oriented.
And again, this is not about the employees. They do the best with what they have. Checkouts are always 20 people deep as there are only so many open. Returns have to go to a specific spot. Despite that I have never had a sales person act rude or indifferent. They are only doing their job with what resources they've been give. Step it up Penney's. You look like you are about to go out of business.”

“I bought a suit from Jc Penny's and it came in and it did not fit so I returned it and they received my refund on November 28 2023 and I am writing this on January 20 2024 and still have not been refunded, and everytime I call I get a different story. Erin at the coustmer care advocate Team has been handing my case since the beginning and has done absolutely nothing about it she is incredibly incompetent and really bad at her job she should be fired”
“I placed two orders through my JCP account. The first defaulted to an address I hadn't lived at for years. I noticed this on the emailed order confirmation. I called JCP. They said it had been more than 20 minutes (3 hours) since purchase, so there was nothing they could do. They said that I should call UPS when I received a shipping notice. The order sat with JCP for two days before a label was printed and another two days before UPS picked it up from JCP. I called UPS, and they said JCP (the shipper) would have to contact UPS to change the address, a common practice. JCP then said they couldn't do that. UPS will only change the delivery after the delivery is refused on the first try.
JCP screwed up my delivery address, refused to change it two days before the label was printed, lied about how to resolve it, and wouldn't take steps to resolve it with the shipper. I sell online, so I know how easy it would have been for them to resolve the issue. I'm out $100 unless the resident at my old house is honest and refuses/sends back the order.
Meanwhile, the customer service representatives were unpleasant, and disempowered. I felt sorry for them.
I will never step foot in a JCP store, or visit their site, again”
“I purchased 2 cardigans on January 4, 2024 with ship to store arrival stated as 1/10/24. The next day, it showed “in transit to store”, with the money removed from my VISA. It is now 1/17 and still showing “ in transit to store”. After speaking with customer service as a “ valued customer” - I was told it was probably lost and I would need go to the store and file for a refund for a product that I never received, 52 mile round trip. This isn’t the first time I’ve had issues with JC Penney, but it is the last!”
