Johnstown Garden Centre made me happy with one part of my order and unhappy with the second part of my order. The laurels were great but the three hazel trees which cost over €22 each are only ten inches tall which in my book are saplings. On the sales pitch it states that I should expect truffles within five years. That’s a complete and utter joke as in five years the trees will still be classed as juvenile. I was extremely disappointed to be conned like this and would never buy before I see again from Johnstown Garden Centre.

Thank you for your review. With regard to the truffle trees that you have received, the truffle is a fungus that lives in a symbiotic relationship within the root system of the hazel plants and although the hazel plants are still young it will not alter or effect the development of the fungus (truffles) below the soil surface. As long as the plants are cared for correctly they will produce truffles within the 5 year time frame or possibly before. Many of our customers have reported great success with this product. The Hazel trees themselves, which is a wild variety of hazel are very fast growing and reach maturity quite quickly. If left un-coppiced they can begin to produce nuts within 3-5 years, and this is a wonderful bonus as you will be able to harvest both truffles (from below the soil surface) and hazel nuts from the tree itself.

Each of these trees are also individually DNA tested to ensure that the truffle is present there. This is an expensive process. The trees are sourced from the world expert on truffle trees, Dr. Paul Thomas himself. He has worldwide success with commercial plantations of truffle trees. The cost of his trees in UK are £34.95 each, so our trees represent very good value indeed and we have sold many 100's of these that are now starting to produce truffles

Sorry to hear that you were not full satisfied with your shopping experience. In Future to avoid disappointment please check the the 'Product size' at the bottom of the description page as it will detail the size of the plant and the pot size it will arrive in and so give you an indication of what to expect.

I ordered 3 plants and soil. The wrapping was excellent courier resistant. The box was dammaged, but the plants were intact. Two plants were beautiful. The third - pitcher plant was received with two thirds of the pitchers dry death and the others in dubious condition. That could not happen on the one day from shop to me. From my experience it took 3 weeks for the pitcher completly dried. After 10 days I had only 2 pitcher healty. I asked for advice, was told to put rain watter in the pitchers. I did and they also died. So I have death plant.

Hi Philip, some items are not available every day in the quantities required and it can take time to source more. We buy from Ireland, UK, Holland, Germany and Denmark.

The delivery was very quick but the plant was spilled all out of its pot. And some of the heads of the plant were broke.hopefully it survives and grows back

Somebody took responsibility for the "real" person who was absent ..... meaning I have to furnish more time and info to the "real" person who is presumably still too busy to follow up ..... more news later as i pursue my initial infertile approach ....

HI John, we have emailed you seperately to see what has gone wrong here?

I have had a few deliveries from the above and plants have usually been of good quality. Substituting clematis tangutica for bill mckenzie is, however, not acceptable. I was not consulted. ...email! I already have tangutica... It is very awkward for me to return... I think I will refrain from ordering online in future even though it suits me to do so.

Good quality products, website is good. It took 2 and a half weeks to receive my order which was much longer than expected and I had to follow up after 2 wks to see where it was. Your competitors typically ship next day.

Hi Gerard, it is stated on our website and in our order confirmation email that deliveries at this time of year can take up to 21 days to arrive. It's something we cannot avoid unfortunately. Glad to hear you are happy with the products.

Hi Anthony, thank you for the review. At this time of year which is the busiest gardening season delays are unavoidable unfortunately. We do our best to make this clear on our website and in the order confirmation email so we are not misleading customers.

I wish you had removed the security tag from the product before you shipped it to me. I couldn't get it off the item and had to ask a neighbour to do it for me with wire cutters and even he struggled with it.

Ordered two bare root rose bushes and the y came with no identification to let me know which one was which. A little annoying as it made it hard to choose the right site to plant. The tool I purchased was also disappointing as the handle is too flimsy for the job it is meant to do (cut through weeds), especially at that price.

Hi Debbie, The handle on the oscillating how is the industry standard Ash Handle , widely used everywhere on this hoe. The hoe is designed to maintain an area free of weeks by cutting through the young weeks as they emerge. It is purposely light, so it is not tiring to use. For heavy clumps of weeds , you should first use a spade to clear the clump. Regarding the roses, there may be a mix up as we don't supply our roses bare rooted. They were supplied potted with both a picture label and a price label on each plant. The bare rooted ones you received must have been from someone else.
