“I have had nothing but trouble. Just needed to download some text messages and instead the app and the backup and the pdf link all take huge amounts of space and time to download. The chat portion I needed wouldn’t allow me to download the full date range. Wasted a ton of time on this app.”

Hi Vikas - We are sorry if we didn't meet your expectations, but Keepster is not intended to allow you to restore your messages to another device. We specialize in backing up your messages, organizing them into folders and making either a printed or digital book of your most important messages. There are other tools that might be better for you if you are looking to backup and restore your message to other devices. Please consider Keepster if you want to use our software for its intended purposes.

“This app comes up when you google "save sms messages as pdf." This, and the description of the app is misleading. I spent over an hour getting this garbage to work and only after downloading all the messages and getting support, did it become clear that I'd have to order a book in order to get the pdfs. I am involved in an awful legal situation and didn't have the time to be misled or have my stress added to. Please advertise clearly.”

We are so sorry that you found our service not to be what you were looking for. In no way do we intend to be misleading. In fact, we have taken great care on our website and in all of our advertising to use precise laguage to explain what we do: Keepster is a service to backup messages and save them as printed books. At present we also offer an option to order a digital copy of a book, as an add-on only. As a business that focuses on turning meaningful messages into keepsakes, had our Customer Support known that you were not needing to create a book, they would have gladly saved you the time.

“I am sorry to rate keepster with only 1 star. It finds my tunes backup but the resulting keepster folder of messages is blank and the file size is zero. I do not know why keepster can not find any imessages in the itunes backup. I checked my icloud folder and there are no messages in icloud so I beleive that all the imessages are in the itunes backup.”

Tad - We are sorry you are having technical difficulties with your Keepsrer backup. The reason your Keepster backup is 0.0 GB is that the iTunes backup is not in the location we expected to find it. We run into this every now and again with customers and are typically able to resolve the issue with our chat support.

“I downloaded to print off some text messages for use in an upcoming court case. It does not fulfil that requirement so is of no use to me. Probably good if you have hundreds of dollars to spend on creating a book though, although I cannot testify to the quality of the finished product.”

We have taken great care to be exrremely careful with the language on our website so as not to be misleading, hence our tag line "Texts so good they should be a book". Also we wish we had had the opportunity to save you some time by explaining this in CHAT on the website or in the app. Still, we are very grateful for better understanding your needs and in fact are already starting to work on making stand-alone PDFs available for customers without having to order books. Keepster specializes in making one-of-a-kind professionally printed books of your messages. We are very sorry that Keepster didn't provide the feature you needed to export your messages. But, if you were attempting to make a book of your messages and ran into some sort of technical issue please consider coming to our website and chat with us. We can talk through what might be going on and see if we can work through the issue.

“Unfortunately, this app did not work. I have an iPhone and wanted to create a book of the text messages btwn my fiancé and I. It could not import any of the pictures, gave me an error code, and limits how many texts you could move at one time. Good idea, poorly executed.”

Hi Shannon, We would very much like the opportunity to help troubleshoot the issues you detailed in your review. Hopefully, we can help you so all your images are available to include in your book. Unfortunately, we need to limit the number of messages added to a folder in a single batch to 3,000 so the app can process all the data. But, there is no limit to the number of messages you can save to a folder and books can contain up to 800-pages worth. Hello Hans We are so sorry that you did not find Keepster helpful. However just to clarify, you can use Keepster to do the following: 1. Import all the messages that are on your phone, and save them as a local backup on your computer. 2. Organize important messages in folders where they can be kept for as long as you wish to do so. However, the messages in your Keepster backup or folders, cannot be exported back to your phone, or to a new device. They will solely remain in the Keepster app, on your computer, where you can read them anytime, and turn them into printed books or PDF's. As, a young startup, we are always eager to learn more about our customers exact needs so please feel free to let us know by emailing us at support@keepster.co. “There are two reviews here: Product and Service Product: The interfact for collecting the texts you want to use is ok once you work through the "building a backup" process which is not very intuitive and not explained well. Once that is done, it is super simple to build the book When the book arrived, the quality was great! Service: I ordered my book on December 11th and did not get it until late January. The issues here: The book was not even through production until the beginning of January when I contacted support where I found out the there was a "glitch in our API" that alowed me to select a PO box and pay for express shipping while, in fact, it could not be deliverd to a PO box with express shipping. The correction was made and it still took another 17 days to print and then ship the book. Really pathetic. Adding to my dissappointment was no offer of refund or coupon for future purchase even after such dismal performace on their part. Makes me think that Keepster is operating on a shoestrind and won't be around too much longer.”

But, as we discussed in our customer support chat, without the minimum operating system it is hard for us help you. Please do consider coming back to try using Keepster when you have upgraded your MAC to OSX Versions 10.12 Sierra or newer.
