Good price, poor courier, sluggish customer care. Look elsewhere.

Returns process is not customer focussed with poor customer comms and different advisors getting in touch. Still waiting for instructions to exchange a hard drive 1 week after reporting fault.

It should be made CLEARER in regards to the box contents, what it will and won't come with. The after care was dismissive. Love my product but it sold itself. Room for improvement.

I'll state the simple facts and let you decide what you think: Partner ordered an "open box" A1 refurbished laptop for me this Christmas. The LD site describes A1 as "at very worst very minor cosmetic/removable blemishes". Arrived 4 Dec but partner didn't open it immediately as he wanted me to have the excitement at Christmas. On Christmas Day it was more horror than excitement; despite perfect outer packaging the laptop had a huge dent and scratching through to the metal on the lid. That very day partner emailed LD to notify the problem including photos. Received a reply saying since it was more than 14 days since receipt they'd do nothing for us. He emailed again stating the item was not as described and it was his right under consumer law to receive a full refund and got the same response. He then phoned LD and had a conversation explaining that he knew his rights under customer law and the female rep stated that LD also knew their rights and would not refund. She was not exactly rude but not apologetic or pleasant. Partner decided to multi-track and put in a claim for refund via Amazon (as paid via Amazon Pay) AND contacted our bank and completed an S75 credit card claim We then spoke to Citizens Advice and used one of their template letters which we sent, "signed for" to LD restating our request for a refund and directed it to Head of Customer Services (all of this disrupting our long-awaited Christmas holiday). Got a reply from LD stating that a case handler would be in touch within 8 days. This did not happen. BUT on 12 Jan we received an email from Amazon stating that our refund from LD was being processed. In the absence of any contact from LD we are not quite sure how this refund came about, but the money has indeed been refunded onto our credit card, and we will set about rebuying elsewhere. I have given 2 stars because although it turned out OK in the end we were caused worry and considerable effort spoiling our Christmas and if we had relied on the LD customer services helpline we would have been left with a very expensive lemon. Was this a deliberate tactic to fob us off with inferior goods? Was it lack of staff training? We don't know. We have bought from LD a couple of times before and received goods that were exactly as described but on the basis of this experience with their customer services we won't buy there again.

Had to phone for over a week and many emails to get products shipped. When arrived, all good.

The transaction was running correctly. The delivery lasted longer than it was declared. Besides, after the delivery, it turned out that this laptop will put a mouse and a backpack in the promotion. Everything makes me feel unsatisfied

I bought a used tablet which wasn't suitable. I explained this to the CS team. It was returned within 14 days but they have charged me a restocking fee of £50. We had an exchange of numerous emails but they refused to offer me a full refund, I've started a chargeback process with my credit card company.

Ordered from these guys on a friend's recommendation as he had a good experience. I paid extra for express delivery (1-2 days) to Dublin. Two days have passed and no word. Called them up and I was given excuses about couriers not delivering here and then they proceed to tell me they haven't even got the items in stock and they are waiting for them to be delivered to them in the UK before they can even send them to me. So I questioned about what the f**k was the point in me paying the express delivery and was told "it's an estimate" and they don't guarantee it. I won't be using their service again.

I ordered an Acer XB271HU monitor as a Christmas present on 2nd Dec, it showed as in stock on the website and said it would be delivered on 6th Dec. Got an email on 6th changing delivery to 7th, got a further email on 7th saying they didn't actually have it in stock and would be back in contact when it came in. Rang them on the 7th and was told they would get in touch with the supplier for a date and get back to me. Got an email shortly after saying approx 9th so I phoned and asked what it meant by "approx" as I don't want to be let down again. I was told that it was approx as the couriers are allowed up to 4 days after to deliver but not to worry as it would definitely be here within 4 days from 9th as I had explained to them that the rest of my son's present (the tower) has been here for weeks and I have been unable to test it as I have no monitor and my concern is that if there is an issue either with the tower or the monitor I'm not being left with much time to arrange a replacement before Christmas as this is the second company that has let me down on delivery as Ebuyers did exactly the same thing and I had to cancel that order. Got a further email on 9th saying it now won't be delivered until 20th Dec !! Rang to cancel my order, the woman I spoke to didn't even apologise and was completely disinterested and as they have already taken payment I now have to wait up to 4 working days to get my money back. Won't be using Laptops Direct again, have ordered from Amazon now and it is being delivered on next day service.

I would not use this company again. I bought a refurbished A1 grade Toshiba from them which arrived with 5 viruses! Incredibly slow on start up, I ran the pre-installed McAffey virus software which detected nothing! Then ran Panda free version anti-virus which removed 5 viruses plus malware!! Still problems so bought a Registry Cleaner and ran that. It found over 134 faults to fix. Uninstalled McAffey (rubbish!) and machine ran better. Not impressed that I was sent a machine that had clearly not been cleaned prior to re-sell, and forced me to spend on software to fix it, not to say a wasted weekend getting it into decent operating condition.

We bought an "A1 condition" refurbished Acer aspire all in one computer from Laptops Direct in November 2010. The first was faulty and had to be sent back after a lot of negotiation. The second was clearly not A1 with lots of bits missing. The third does not have a working CD / DVD drive. We are now into April with no resolution. We are now dealing through Trading Standards.
