As a dental hygiene student, I was really hoping Lumadent would be a reliable investment — unfortunately, it’s been nothing but stress and disappointment. I understand adjustments can be necessary, but they didn’t make the process easy. I wasn’t told I would need to make my own adjustments until after I purchased the loupes. If I would have known this prior to purchase, it would have swayed my decision to order from them. After receiving my loupes in the mail, I spent hours adjusting them in order to see clearly. The initial measurements taken by the rep were incorrect by 7 inches which compromised my ergonomics. I spent over an hour troubleshooting over video chat, even though this was something I was unable to fix myself. They told me I would receive a shipping label via email and I never did. I had to reach out to initiate the process and follow up multiple times to receive updates. I ended up sending them in for a month-long repair — just to get them functional. Even then, they came back damaged and they had completely ignored some of my other my requests via email. Now, just a few months later, both oculars are loose in the lenses — one is nearly falling out — and I’m completely unable to use my loupes because all I see is double vision. I’ve had them for less than a year, I use them twice a week at most, and I’ve taken great care of them. They should not be falling apart already. Throughout this whole process, customer service was not helpful at all and only focused on repair, but I made it clear (more than once) that I would feel more comfortable returning them for a refund in which they refuse. I appreciate their efforts to repair the loupes, but this is a crucial tool I rely on for school and my future career. The quality has been extremely disappointing, and if I’m already experiencing issues now, I can’t trust they’ll hold up with the increased, regular use ahead. I’ve been unhappy with both the product and the support I received, and as a student, I can’t afford to keep wasting time and money on equipment I can’t rely on. I understand companies have return policies, but Lumadent has not been willing to work with me at all. I regret choosing them and would not recommend them to anyone. I wish I would have chosen a different company from the beginning, but now - not even a year later - I have to pay an additional $2000 just for a functional pair of loupes.

All my friends who bought lumadent have problems with light flickering. Avoid. I purchased a light D4 year. Light flickered pretty much from the get-go. Had the LED module and battery repaired after a year. 7 months later, blinking again. Lumadent wants me to buy a new battery now. $400 worth of repairs within 2 years. Horrible.

I bought a loupe light from this company during my D1 year. By early D4 year, the light already starting flickering and stopped changing intensities. The rep assured me that the repair would take a week, but they held onto my batteries for almost two weeks. On top of it all, they shipped it to the wrong address when trying to return the repaired batteries to me. I’m on week 3 of working on patients without a light and it will probably be longer now. Not only is their product poor in quality, the customer service is incompetent. If it weren’t for me still being in dental school, they wouldn’t have repaired the batteries. There are better products/ companies out there

Terrible product. I bought the prolux package and a year and half later the battery started to flicker. Called customer service and they said it only had a year warranty, bought another battery and the same thing happened about a year and half later just after the warranty expired. DO NOT RECOMMEND unless you enjoy having issues.

Bad customer service. I had struggle getting used to the loupes and finally I was able to get my frame set, my lights weren’t usable since the sensor was too sensitive. When I reached out they said it was past 45 days. I had raised ticket was before 45 days about the discomfort. Never shopping again. Orascoptic customer service is way better.

This company is absolutely terrible. The loops are so low quality. Not to mention, you pay a lot of money for the loops and they make excuses to not repair them . Ordered a pair of loops one year ago and the lens started cracking on both eyes . Called and got customer service representative Bo Guest. He asked me to send pictures of my loops and what I clean them with And when I noticed the cracks in my lens, he told me that they were still under warranty. That he would review my email and get back with me . I did not receive a responding email so I called Bo Guest. He said he sent me an email days ago, denying that the loops will not be covered because of cleaning wipes and that the alcohol and the wipes will crack your lens. I told him I typically most cases clean them with soap and water was trying to argue with me and said that if I wanted the loop fixed, it would be $500. I’m shocked you pay that kind of money for loops and the lens start cracking after a year . Unacceptable. I have loops from orthoscopic that are eight years old and I’ve never had this problem. My advice don’t order from Lemadent .

Really poor customer service. Left Canada and when I tried to contact them they literally ignored my email. Not ideal after spending hundreds of dollars on their light. Very disrespectful.

I bought a pair of 6x prismatic loupes last year and within 6 months both ocular pieces came loose, and one fell out while I was working on a patient! The battery it came with also started malfunctioning and the light flickers on an off. They won't send a replacement battery for you to hold you over until your battery is diagnosed and repaired. And good luck getting anything back in a decent amount of time! I sent my loupes back over a month ago and I they still haven't been fixed. You have to send multiple emails to get a reply as well. I still have my original loupes from dental school that I am using as a replacement for now, and in over 15 years they have never had an issue. Buy at your own risk.

After 18 months, the battery pack becomes extremely hot and no longer receives a charge. Not a very good product considering the cost and length of time before failing.

I have been a loyal customer and user of Lumadent products since 2017, specifically their headlights that have served me well. In January this year, I placed an order for a new airlux battery to replace my prolux. The batteries had to be shipped for a 50 USD shipping fee, but I accepted that as due cost. one of the batteries fit well, the second one that came did not and was not functional. Upon contacting the Lumadent team, they helpfully agreed to send me a second replacements unit, but I would have to pay shipping again for another 50 USD. I was happy with the level of support, dead on arrivals happen, and it's unfortunate but I was happy to pay a second delivery fee . To my dismay, the replacement battery once more did not fit. At this point, 6 weeks of back and forth, 100 USD in shipping and I only had 1 functional airlux battery. Upon contacting the support team, they requested another 50 USD, and I had had enough. I requested another refund, but they informed me as per policy, they would not be able to refund the 100 USD delivery fee. After some negotiation, I received a text member from a seperate support member assuring me due to my poor experience they would offer me the full 100 USD refund. I found the team to be quite understanding of the situation and helpful to me. What followed next was over 4 months of back and forth with no sight of the promised refund. As shown in the picture attached to the review, I would politely enquire about the refund every 2-4 weeks, different support members would reply back apologizing for the delay and promising the refund would appear soon before radio silence until I enquired again afew weeks later. As of July, it has been 7 months since I initially purchased the batteries, no refund in sight. I have lost hope of ever receiving my refund. As a long time user of Lumadent, I can no longer support this poor business ethic or recommend them to my peers in Australia. I would counsel potential customers to be very wary of purchasing from them, you will not receive good support post purchase if any mistakes or errors in the product occur.

Horrible customer service. I have tried calling multiple times over a few days span and no one has gotten back to me. When I use the chat option available, they also were not helpful and told me that someone will be in touch with me via email in the next day, and I still have not heard anything back 4 days later.

I bought my proLUX control cable slong with the package that included my safety wear as well as my headlight HL360 etc. Within the year my cable started to deteriorate along the junction of the cable to the bud of the cord. I had trouble finding my receipt on my email and by the time I contacted them not only did the cable finally stop working but the wiring was exposed and you could see that it finally separated. I use them everyday. Clean them before I start and after I’m done with my day and ALWAYS between patients Same way every time alcohol with gauze on the lenses, Frame and sometimes any exposed wire When In use I west underneath scrub top and clip on my hip band when not in use I set them aside (UNWRAPPED) in anyway when packaged to go home I use a medium size case with well enough storage to keep contained and clear of and possible pinching. MY POINT this I can tell was simply product quality I’m sorry but that’s not even what gives them that low of a rating it’s the customer service I bought them when I was in school with insurance and because I’m no longer in school they cannot fix the cord free of charged. This should have been as simple as a swap out for a new one. Like most warranties or quality places.

Tools that get used every day wear over time and Loupes+Headilght are no different. We are never okay with an unhappy customer but we would like to point out that all of our Loupes and Headlight products include a warranty (which is extended and discounted for students). We believe our warranty is comprehensive and fair - especially for students. While we understand it can be frustrating to have a part break down over time, it's worth noting that our instructions clearly state to not use alcohol to clean our products. Therefore, even if this product had still been within the warranty period (which it was not), the warranty would have been voided for using chemicals that we list on our "do not use" list.

I bought the Prolux Headlight system and have loved it until...There is a screw and nut on the headlight that keeps the headlight inclined to your specifications. The nut is about 3mm in diameter and 1/2 mm thick. It fell off and now my light won't stay where I point it at. Lumadent will only charge me FORTY dollars to replace the 3 cent piece. Consider this before you buy.

I bought their flip up prism loupes in November 2021. The crossbar bar on that version was horrible and virtually impossible to accurately adjust the IPD. I see they have changed it to a new crossbar now having realised how horrible the previous model was. I contacted them and they promise send me a new crossbar. They sent a cheap plastic crossbar which did not fit the loupes that I had ordered. They then promised to send the newly designed crossbar and after 6 months, I still don’t haven’t received anything. Their customer service is horrible with no updates unless you contact them repeatedly. I am now stuck with a more that $1000 loupes that is totally useless!!!! This has to be the worst customer service experience I have experienced!

I received my loupes and unfortunately, I see double with them. I contacted customer service and they have been emailing back and despite my request to see a live person to help with the issue or refund my money nothing has been addressed. Just keep getting emails asking what I am seeing and for various photos and measurements. To the point where I just don't know what is needed or what I am seeing. I never received the mount for my current loupes to use the new light with.
