“I had a very disappointing experience using Off The Record (OTR) for a traffic case in Cook County. I hired an attorney through the platform specifically to represent me in court, and while there was some initial communication, the attorney failed to appear on time for my scheduled court hearing. My case was called at the exact time it was scheduled (9:00 AM), and the attorney didn't show up until after it had already been processed. I was left to handle the entire matter on my own — exactly what I paid to avoid. Despite this failure, OTR claimed that the attorney “met their obligations” and refused to offer a full refund, even though the primary service I paid for — in-court representation — was not delivered. The attorney eventually offered a 50% refund, but only on the condition that I sign a non-disparagement agreement. That felt more like an attempt to silence my honest feedback than to take responsibility for what went wrong. I also found OTR's support unhelpful and dismissive. Their refund policy seems to protect the platform and attorneys more than it protects the clients who rely on their services. There’s no real accountability if things go wrong — which is a serious concern when it comes to legal matters. If you're thinking about using Off The Record, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. You’re taking a big risk if your case depends on someone actually showing up on time and advocating for you. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this platform.”

“I received a speeding ticket and decided to get a lawyer to fight it. I found off the record through a google search and was paired with a lawyer. The most I had to do was download the app to my phone. The lawyer communicated each time the case was postponed, I never had to go to court and I received an email notification that I was found not guilty. All for less than $140. Hire a lawyer through Off The Record! They are affordable and get results”
