About Outback Equipment:

Outback Equipment was born from a couple of mates with a big idea and an even bigger love for the outdoors. What started in the back of a garage quickly moved to a warehouse corner and now, over 10 years later, we’re running our own full-scale warehouse and showroom storefront in Acacia Ridge, Brisbane.

We kicked off with a fascination for light bars, but it didn’t take long to realise there was a lot more gear to get excited about. Outback Equipment has since grown into one of the largest online ranges of 4x4, camping, marine, and caravanning accessories in Australia. Driven by our customers’ passion for exploring the great outdoors, we’ve expanded our space, our range, and our mission.

While the customer service on both times that we purchased from Outback Equipment was great, on both occasions the products that we bought were damaged. Considering we were purchasing a quality brand (Thule), it is disappointing that these items have defects and a slow/non-response from OE customer support.

Dispatch took almost two weeks. Product didn’t work for my application so I need to return it, however I’ve sent an email and contacted via the website with no reply for over a fortnight. Unable to get through on the phone either.

Order took just over seven weeks to arrive. I sent a number of emails to request an update and each time the only thing I received back was a new tracking number and another copy of my invoice no other information. Over all the products from outback equipment are great but customer service/communication is poor.

The only problem I have is the 7 Weeks total, spent waiting for the 2 purchased items to arrive I've had items purchased from the US, EU and China that have arrived faster. I doubt I'll be making any further purchase's from Outback Equipment

No comment at this stage as the product we ordered did not come complete. Initial response was excellent but have heard nothing now for over a month - sent another prompt email actually last night so hopefully I get a response!

Prices are great but service is poor. I ended up cancelling my last order with them after I had not received delivery advice after 5 days and when I rang them was told item was in stock and it "might" leave in another 4 days. When I can get the same thing next day from another well known site that to me is not acceptable

Product took 8 weeks to arrive. Your website did not make it clear that the Clearview mirror I was ordering was not in stock and that you had to order it to be made. I only found this out when I phoned you after no one responded to my online inquiry as to the whereabouts of the mirrors. If I knew you didn’t actually have it in stock, I would have bought locally from my local dealer who actually had some in stock rather than wait 2 months to receive it from you.

Goods are great but the handling time was ridiculous, had to chase up twice for a couple of brackets and roof rack legs.

Ordered on the 6th October the towbar was listed as in stock. Waited for delivery. Heard nothing for 2 weeks. Made contact with the store. The girl said it had only just been dispatched and should be there Tuesday (in 3 days time). Still nothing. Rang up again. Got told this time that it had never left and they didn't have any in stock and there was one left with the supplier and they would order it now for delivery early next week (this was Friday) left it all of the following week with still no towbar. Rang up again and this got someone who seemed to know what they were doing and was determined to get it sorted. He apologised and explained that the towbar had forgotten to be sent and got it on its way. It finally turned up today 16th November. Biggest issue was lack of communication as each time I called I was promised a call back with an update but not one call back.

I bought one of the underbody 15L water tank. Quality wasn’t the best, the o-ring that seals the filler hole bung is twisted and doesn’t seal and it also leaks from the brass fitting that the tap screws into. Not from the thread but where it is presses into the tank. Very disappointed in this product considering the price.

An item I purchased was backordered. Was emailed to say it was backordered with no ETA. I emailed a week later to find out when I would receive my backordered item and had no reply. Emailed again a week later and again no reply. Backordered item turned up a few weeks later.

I have had really good experiences in the past however my last experience was really poor, delivery timelines blew out by months so I was calling weekly to get updates. On three occasions I was informed that the product was coming from the wholesaler and would be sent out in a few days. I ended up finding another stockist who delivered the same product I was waiting on for months, in days.

First time was oversold product but communication was good. Second time apparently product in stock and dispatched but haven’t received product or heard from courier company besides the initial “we have received your parcel and will be dispatched on our next cycle”.

On website it was stated order would be sent within a week, received 2 emails stating order would be sent after another week. Finally phoned and was told the company didn't actually have what was ordered and it wouldn't be sent for at least 3 wks because there were none in Australia. Placed an order with a Sydney company that afternoon and received item 3 days later. You did at least refund my money. Poor service.

I got the fans and water tank gauge I ordered but was missing the gauge extension cable. After 2 weeks still no cable so I called. It was on back order with NO email so I requested a refund. I also asked why I wasn't contacted and told about the unsupported extension cable. 3 time I've purchased of your team, a problem each time with no communication from your team. At least you herd me and my freight was Australia Post instead of Aramex Over all very poor customer service

I have ordered several items in 1 order. Some items have been delivered, however one item is not in stock and is delaying shipment of the other 2 remaining items which are in stock. No delivery date is available for the item not in stock and I have asked twice for the 2 items in stock to be shipped, however that has not happened after 2 weeks. Disappointing service!
