About Outback Equipment:

Outback Equipment was born from a couple of mates with a big idea and an even bigger love for the outdoors. What started in the back of a garage quickly moved to a warehouse corner and now, over 10 years later, we’re running our own full-scale warehouse and showroom storefront in Acacia Ridge, Brisbane.

We kicked off with a fascination for light bars, but it didn’t take long to realise there was a lot more gear to get excited about. Outback Equipment has since grown into one of the largest online ranges of 4x4, camping, marine, and caravanning accessories in Australia. Driven by our customers’ passion for exploring the great outdoors, we’ve expanded our space, our range, and our mission.

I ordered a item for delivery to Perth WA within 2 weeks but after I placed the order I was told I was unable to get faster delivery as they used Australia Post and the item was too large for express delivery and they were not prepared to have it couriered at my cost or provide a refund as I had failed to read their dispatch rules carefully enough but they would offer a in store credit. Very unhelpful attitude on the phone and apparently it was my fault!!

Brought a redarc BCBC charger failed after 9months contacted outback which you can only do by email it takes 3 days for them to response asking for proof of purchase etc which was done then asked for picture and of unit and proof of purchase so sent copy of invoice with picture of unit plus letter from Auto Elect. stating that unit was faulty and he gave mob number if they had any concerns remembering that it takes days for them to reply it took 3 weeks to get to this stage THEY then wanted serial no. AFTER a couple of days They then wanted to know what battery i had in vehicle .Finally they said they would send it to Redarc when i send it to them they paid postage. after2 weeks no response. I then emailed them Response we will contact you in 3 days I Then contacted REDARC They told me if i contacted them i would have had a replacement in 5 days they sent me a new one straight away it took 6 weeks dealing with this mob and i had to contact redarc myself I wouldn't buy anything from them

The lack of communication very poor, the fact its taken so far 9 weeks (apparently on its way) for a delivery is out the gate. Its been me thats constantly tried to chase this up The phones were turned off So only way of communication was email We needed items for a caravan trip that has been & gone

Terrible experience, they don't seem to actually have items in stock even when they say so on their website. I waited weeks for my order that I paid express shipping for. In the end they cancelled the main sleeping bag I wanted and only sent the cheapo chair...still charged me for the express post!

I'm pretty sure now they are just an online shop front for a lot of products. They don't seem to have items actually in stock. 3wks plus waiting for our Hardkoor light strip meant we had to leave on out trip without it :( Couldn't contact them by phone and they took days to respond by email with a generic reply. We had to buy it elsewhere and it arrived at our destination in 4days. Won't be buying from them again as this was the second time they stitched us up.

My order was so poorly wrapped that the hitch fell out of the box when I collected it from the post office. This made me think part of my order had been lost in transit, but apparently the locking pin, tow ball and caravan feet had just not been sent yet. When I followed up with OBE, I was told the pin and ball should have come with the kit in a sealed plastic pack, but that was not the case, so they arranged to send them finally. The caravan feet were on back order, and I was not informed; all communication indicated the full order had been filled, which was not the case. Very disappointed with the communication, slow freight and poor packaging.

Worst experience I’ve ever had of ordering online and of customer service - ordered Max Fan Delux for my van, bit cheaper than elsewhere. Delivery said within 6 days. This turned out to be to their factory! I was in Northern Rivers and they were in Brisbane, how hard could it be! Nothing after a few weeks - I rang and was told politely about the 6 days being only to them (so misleading) and given a possible delivery date. I changed the delivery address because by that time the van would be getting worked on and not at my home. Nothing arrived, I tried calling Outback again and a recorded message said they were so busy they couldn’t answer the phones and to send an email which I did. This was answered a few days later. Still nothing arrived and calls went to same message and email answered again a few days later but still fan didn’t arrive. The installation was time sensitive as the roof needed respraying Eventually the fan arrived after FORTY EIGHT DAYS when the van was at a different address being worked on as I could no longer delay and had given up about the fan and finally had to go ahead with the work. So that required two hours of driving to get the fan to the new location. I eventually left on my trip well over a month late because of Outback Equipment’s misleading advertising. And now I will miss the whale shark migration. Pay the extra and use a different company. They are way understaffed and while the staff are polite and try to be helpful it’s not good enough!!! I may now never get to swim with the whale sharks as it was wish I made while undergoing cancer treatment.

After waiting months for our solar screens, we were told that they forgot to order it. We were offered a refund but we are still waiting weeks later to see our money.

It took over 2 weeks to be told my item wasn't in stock. And then after being offered an equivalent product, which I had questions about, noone responded to me for 3 weeks despite multiple follow up emails. My product has finally shipped. Two months later. Oh and then they finally responded to me after my order had shipped...

Items I paid for never ended up receiving. 4 weeks it took for this company to agree to refunding me. After over 15 emails only today they agreed to refund my money. Their phone number on their website is never answered recording service they tell you to email the enquiries so phone is useless. I am still shocked how it could take over 4 weeks to track a parcel which they claimed they did. I don’t recommend this company best to buy the product from the supplier/ manufacturer directly. I ordered the same items from Quadlock and my order was delivered same week. Whole situation was so mishandled. There is no management looks like only one person tries to do everything. Disgusting experience. They told me my refund will be processed in 7 to 10 days. Wow more waiting.

Once an order is with the courier, delays or investigations can unfortunately occur that are outside of our direct control, including situations where parcels are delayed or lost in transit. In these cases, we do need to follow the courier’s process before a refund can be formally confirmed and processed.
