“Pulte built our current home in Newell Creek in Mentor, OH, my husband and I moved in on 5/6/16. Pulte touts quality home building but ours was less than perfect. Three times within the past 4 years that we have been living in our home, strong winds have knocked the siding off above the garage and on both sides of our house (at separate times), we had to pay an outside service to get it fixed because we were no longer under warranty. The third most recent incident was 11/14/20 when the winds were blowing at 40-50 mph. Yet again we are having to pay someone to fix the damage. So if you have a choice to go elsewhere to build and buy a home, just think twice about letting Pulte do it.”
“Pulte was made aware of a problem with a leaking window which was reported within the five year warranty period. Rather than taking the lead on the issue as general contractor we were entrusted with solving the problem. No window has arrived after 8 months. Contact with Pulte to take over the problem has gone with no response.”
“We closed on a new home- late due to building issues not COVID related. We have not moved in because we are selling another home and the tile in the master shower is yellowing because the water pools after a shower. We also have over 10 areas on our wood floors that have splintering problems. A call back would be nice, but yes they have our money.”
“My walkthrough noted numerous issues not completed. Field Manager was not ready, nor the house for this. Painters painted ceiling and now I am on my hands and knees scraping up paint they left! Their customer service stops and you close. I should have delayed it due to unfinished issues. Dryer vent not hooked up, cabinets out of alignment, horrible tile job. They are interested in money only and could care less if you complain! Executives don’t answer consumer emails. No mailboxes, I must drive 1/4 mile to a bank of mailboxes. They hire the worst subs in the industry and none speak English! I have built 4 homes in south Florida and Pulte is by far the very worst. Can’t sue them, contract says arbitration only. Caveat Emptor”
“Our original date to close was told to us at the time we put our deposit down and was supposed to be after November. In July we were told it will be in September. We did our walk through and noted lots of items that needed repair and they had a week to fix them. We got our keys a week later and moved in at 5 pm. There was trash in our yard, water bottles soda cans food wrappers and even chicken bones from workers just left on our property. The yard had lots of nails and our floors, widows and counters were filthy. We started cleaning when we should have been moving.
I reported this to Pulte and was told they only do a construction clean. The quality of work is so poor. The workers take no pride in building these homes. We were rushed into moving into a home and you can see the finish of this home was rushed. Paint was all over tiles, holes in the grout, the grout color is not the same as we ordered, insulation stuck on the baseboards painted. Our a/c was not working right, mirrors are scratched, paint runs all over the walls, cabinets were chipped and paint all over them. Our lights flicker constantly and now we are getting little shocks at times when we touch the light switches. We have been in the house for 7 weeks and still have multiple issues. We have called supervisors and they just don’t care! Everyday we find more issues and now we are told there is only a 30 days to report home issues but each day we find something new and Pulte is rude when you call to report anything. These homes look beautiful but are poor quality and poor customer service from the builder. I would never recommend this builder.”
“Horrible warranty service. This warranty manager TONY IS A SEXIST pig towards women! I have had my house since 7/7/2020 and since moving in I am throwing away shirts that have mysterious tiny holes. I buy five new ones and boom more holes. I finally had two granite companies out who said their are microchips in the granite along the edges. This is catching on my shirts as I cook, clean, and put on makeup at the counters. I made a warranty claim and this donkey is refusing to fix my counters because he don’t feel it, even though two other companies have! This idiot Tony even told me I was crazy because he can’t feel it and if he has to use a fingernail to feel it they ain’t fixing it. Really!”
“We recently moved in to a Pulte Homes, last Feb. 2020. My wife & I are very dissapointed, when we are on the process of buying the house, everyone were very nice. We were told, if there is a problem once we moved in, they will fix it. Our first day the house got flooded, second day the toilet flush was clogged, they came & fix the flood, but the toilet, is never fixed, we have to pump the toilet 2 times a wk. On the walkthru, we found problems, we were told to write down everything that needs to be fix, but no one want to come and fix it. So many problems in the house nobody want to return my calls and emails. I will never recoment Pulte Homes to anyone.”
“The worst experience I've ever had. No one answers your calls or emails. Once they get your deposit they don't care what happens. Wish i never bought from them. Would never recommend them to anyone.”
“Do not build your home with this company. We moved in November and still do not have shutters on our windows. Poor communication and already have cracks in our walls and concrete. Not to mention the HOA IS HORRIBLE AS WELL. They pressure you to get things done on your end but when you need things done from them they are a no show. I would definitely not have bought our home if I had known this in the beginning. Looking to sell in the next year or two.”
“We completed our walk through six months ago. Unfortunately, we missed the fact that they failed to paint a portion of the exterior. But since we did not get it on the pre-closing list, it is now our problem. They won't write a repair ticket. It would cost me $200 to do this myself. I just paid my attorney a $500 retainer. We'll see what happens in court.”
“The tray ceiling in my master bedroom has had issues since day one. and they are now refusing to fix it. "My warrenty period" expired. I am not even in my home two years literally the plaster above my bed is falling off the wall and today I was told they would not repair it. The community is a mess. Many of it's residents are NOT HAPPY. They planted the wrong trees throughout trying to cut corners. Most of the vegetation is dead or dying. DO NOT BUY A PULTE HOME!”

They make no attempt to fix any issues. You have been warned. Do not get suckered because you viewed a nice model home and talked to a nice lady at the office...once they have you locked in, they leave you to the wolves.”
“STAY AWAY FROM PULTE !!! They trick the buyers with incentives delivering them low quality home with Shoddy workmanship. Their 10 year warranty is to just get the buyer in and then they don’t honor it. Bad investment. Rather buy old house and renovate it than buy new construction from Pulte and keep plugging in money from your pocket. Don’t fall for their fake SOLD boards in the community. “We are located in Plymouth Minnesota. Here is the thing about Pulte unless you go in from ground up and decide what to add on your home, pulte uses the cheapest material possible. Home is falling a part already and I been living here for a MONTH!! Sliding doors to cabinets to door knobs to electric outlets the cheapest!! Ooo and laminate are probably the dirt cheap. Scratched from one corner to another while moving into the home. I can only imagine what will happen in two years..”
“I live in West Cypress Hills subdivision. Pulte doesn’t care about the neighborhoods they build in. For the past month they have started construction before 8:00am on Saturday. This past Saturday it was before 7:00am! During the week they arrive at the job site before 6:00am. They keep apologizing but nothing has changed. This is absolutely ridiculous!!! Stay away from Pulte. Go buy a Highland Home instead.”
“Great floor plans and nice looking house; however the craftsmanship Is terrible. I have 9 cracked tiles above my stove that will be a huge pain to replace. My house is now 3 years old and I have already fixed nailpops one time.
They have already come back in every room plus some. My bathroom alone has 9 nail pops, 9! My kitchen floors freak as if this house is from the 1800’s. And it does not change w the season like the manager told me it would when I complained about it.
My neighbors are all having the same issues as well so this isn’t an isolated incident.
