Overall: This place was amazing on all fronts especially with Tony the owner there to help us. He went above and beyond for us even driving us to dinner one night and grocery shopping for us. The views are breathtaking and the home was clean and had everything we needed. Could not say enough about it. Enjoyed Most: Tony and the view! Plus a Michelin 2 star restaurant that was within walking distance and Tony set up an amazing dinner for us! Enjoyed Least: I'm stretching since we all loved it, but the walk to the beach was a bit farther than expected. It was really hot so that made it feel longer. Very minor though. Surrounding Area: The views, beaches, ability to take a boat to Amalfi, Positano, and Capri. Nearby Events or Locales: Nerano. Yes. Tips or Restaurants: Quatro Passi is a must! Also the beach and restaurant at Conca del Sogno. Directions: We didn't drive. Also, not sure you really need a car. All is accessible by boat, bus or Tony! Check In Out: Although check in and check out are at certain times, check in with Tony as he will do his best to coordinate with the times of your flights for early or late check out.

Overall: This trip was wonderful. The villa was really spacious, we were eight adults. Located just a few miles outside of town, it was really easy to get anywhere we wanted to go. The town of Xabia was beautiful and of course the Mediterranean was perfect. This property fit our needs perfectly. Enjoyed Most: We spent most of our time at the villa on the veranda. We started everyday out there for breakfast and ended our evenings with a glass of wine, with just the pool lights on. Very relaxing. Enjoyed Least: The pool was out of commission for most of our week. We missed spending time in the water. There was no guest book on site. We have always found that helpful in getting to know the quirks of the individual villa, re how to turn the gas on, etc. Surrounding Area: The scenery was beautiful. There were beautiful beaches, both sandy and rocky. People were very friendly and helpful, even though our Spanish was somewhat limited. Nearby Events or Locales: We were just a few miles outside the town of Xabia (Javea). The villa was located on a steep hill, not really an area for walking. Tips or Restaurants: We didn't realize you could rent fans from the local villa rental agency. We bought fans and left them there. They may still be there. They probably also offer umbrellas for by the pool, which gets a lot of sun. We ate out every night and the food was always wonderful. Our favorite restaurants were closer to the marina. It was a more relaxed atmosphere than the main strip, L'Arendel. There was a great marketplace in the old town every Thursday. The nearby town of Altea is definitely worth a trip. More beautiful views and delicious food. Directions: The directions to get to the villa were very easy to follow. We did use GPS to get around town and to return to the villa at night. Highly recommend this. At night it's easy to miss the turn into the neighborhood. Check In Out: Everyone we worked with was wonderful. I do wish we'd been told at check-in that renting fans and umbrellas was possible. They assumed we knew. It's possible this is common practice here, but we didn't know this.

Overall: We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this villa. We made good use of the swimming pool, the outdoor bbq, and the kitchen. Enjoyed Most: This villa is a charming mix of comfort and character, with a beautiful view, lovely swimming pool and close proximity to a quaint and welcoming village. The owners were very warm and helpful. The villa had a number of stunning hand painted icons on the walls. Enjoyed Least: Not much, really. Maybe the fact that the hot water was somewhat limited for the seven of us. Surrounding Area: Warm, lovely people in the nearby village who served us with welcoming smiles and delicious food at The Gorge restaurant! Nearby Events or Locales: We were within 5 mins walk of Deliana. Tips or Restaurants: Pool toys if you are traveling with children. "The Gorge" in Deliana. Directions: Directions were fine for us. We used a GPS but were traveling with a young couple who have a keen sense of direction. Check In Out: Most accommodating to our "outside of the specified hours" needs.

Overall: Fantastic. Enjoyed Most: Clean and quiet. Surrounding Area: Close to a lot of different small villages. Tips or Restaurants: Great close by restaurants listed in the owner's house book. Directions: Directions were great. Check In Out: Sandro the owner made those processes easy. He is terrific.

Overall: Anna and Alessandro could not have been more gracious to us. They were very responsive to every need and even gave us some of their own fresh olive oil made from the 1700 trees on their property. We had a wonderful time. Enjoyed Most: The house is beautiful and the grounds were incredible. Everything you could ask for in a Tuscan experience. The pictures do not do it justice. It is much grander and more beautiful than the pictures show. Enjoyed Least: It is on a very narrow road and that was not my favorite road by far. But, it is so rarely traveled that we only came upon another car maybe three times and never on the last road to the house. Surrounding Area: It is very quiet and the views are stunning. It looks like a post card it is so beautiful. Nearby Events or Locales: You need a car here for any hope of getting to town as it is too far to walk. We went into Montecatini Terme many time and explored. A great little town. Tips or Restaurants: We had a fabulous dinner (twice, and we never repeat restaurants but we broke our own rule) at a place in town called the "American Bar". The restaurant is actually called La Cascina. It has outside lighting and sofa and chairs on fine gravel. The drinks were great and the ambiance wonderful. We stayed for dinner and it was the best salmon and lamb we had on our trip, thus the return dinner on our last night. It is at 43 Viale Giuseppe Verdi and the website is www.incascina.it Directions: If you print a picture of the gates from the entry you will be able to use GPS to find it easily and recognize the gates. It is much bigger than the pictures show with two different entrances. Anna was watching for us and immediately came out when she saw us. Check In Out: Our hosts were gracious and lovely. We had no problem at all with the check out and they returned our deposit minus the amount for the cleaning. We tried hard not to overuse the electricity and they did not charge us for extra use.

Overall: Best vacation I ever had. Enjoyed Most: Everything. See above. Particularly the outdoor eating terrace for meals--beautiful sunsets, too, from there. Also you can walk down a hill to swim - bit of a hike back up but it's good exercise. Also could walk to a nearby marina to rent boats. Surrounding Area: The sea. Easy to go out on a boat. Also easy access to Pompeii, which is a must-see. Nearby Events or Locales: Massa Lubrense. Yes, it's within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: In summer only need shorts and bathing suits. As for restaurants, get advice from Carmine, the property manager. He's AMAZING and knows everything. Also a great chef and will prepare meals at the villa. Directions: VERY difficult to find this villa alone the first time. Don't try. Let Carmine show the way. Check In Out: Easy and comfortable.

Overall: We had a great time at this property. Enjoyed Most: The views. The caretaker was delightful even though her English was limited. She had provisioned the refrigerator with bottled water, eggs, butter, a couple of beers and cokes which had we known about we wouldn't have bought for ourselves prior to our arrival. She also had a lovely bowl of fruit for us as well. Terraces were great, plenty of seating a table and the views! Enjoyed Least: the train. we got used to it by the end of our stay but it took awhile. I was glad I had earplugs for sleeping. It is something we noticed everywhere we went. The trains are excellent and well used because they are conveniently located and run through towns so lots of people live within earshot of the train. I suppose it's part of being there. Surrounding Area: The nearby towns of Lesa, Stresa, Arona, Meina were all lovely. In Stresa we went to Isola Bella, an island with a palace and beautiful gardens. North of Stresa we found another garden, Giardini di Villa Taranto, which we had been to 25 years ago. We spent some time in Como, near Turin and in Milano as we ventured out from our immediate surroundings a lot. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town was Lesa, downhill toward the lake or uphill to Massino Visconti, neither really within walking distance unless you have a lot of time. Tips or Restaurants: Property was well equipped. Directions: It is a windy ride with lots of twists and sharp turns which we mastered by the end of our stay but it posed quite the challenge in the beginning. We did not have GPS. Check In Out: Check in and check out worked fine for us.

Overall: Where can we begin! My wife and I had a really wonderful experience in Skopelos at Villa Adonis. It was situated on the hill overlooking the Mediterranean. It was truly a dream honeymoon. We were in a private and secluded area but close enough to be near society. Enjoyed Most: We loved the spaciousness, the pool, the view of the sea and the town, the flowers and landscape. We loved the architecture of the house. It gave us a sense of a real Greek property with high ceilings, tones of blue, open kitchen, open living room, breakfast and dinner balconies, and oh... did I mention the view?!?!!! Absolutely loved it! Enjoyed Least: Not much. It did not have the internet but if you are a person that wants to totally be disconnected, this is the place for you. Surrounding Area: The town had everything you needed. You could walk to town if you really wanted to (we did). We also drove around the island. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town is Skopelos. About 30 minute walk. Tips or Restaurants: Be prepared for total seclusion! Great for families and couples. The best restaurant is the one inside your own kitchen. We cooked most of our own foods. Directions: Thank God for our greeter! The directions were not that great. We followed him there. By the way, make sure you can drive a stick and have an international driver's license if you are from the States.

Overall: Exceeded expectations and resulted in a magical experience overall. Enjoyed Most: The seclusion of this property was our favorite part. Literally tucked away among olive trees and vineyards at the end of a dirt road. However, it's on the side of a hill so you still have a great view and don't feel confined. Didn't see anyone during our entire visit except, of course, the villa owner who was wonderfully nice. Enjoyed Least: Kitchen was smaller than I would have liked, but was entirely functional. Surrounding Area: The final 2 - 3 km of roads (paved and dirt) that lead up to the villa feel like you are being transported to another time. Nearby Events or Locales: Nothing within walking distance, but that's a bonus in my view. Both Cortona and Camucia are within 6 km and serve very different purposes. Camucia has well stocked grocery stores, pharmacy, etc. Cortona is an ancient walled city with everything you go to Tuscany for - food, sites, etc. Tips or Restaurants: Rental car is a must-have. While I'm sure there are taxis, it's 6km (actual road miles) to Cortona part of which is on tiny roads and behind the villa's private gate. Having to rely on taxis would be very hard. There are at least 2 nice, large grocery stores in Camucia which is only a few kilometers away. But, they close at 1:00 on Sundays. The other days of the week it looked like they were open until 8:00pm. Best restaurant finds were in CortonaOsteria del Teatro - gorgeous little terrace and incredible food.La Loggetta - overlooks main piazza and also fabulous food.

Overall: Wonderful. Great place to stay. Enjoyed Most: The location was fantastic. Near Greve. Beautiful drive. Great views of the vineyards and olive trees. Enjoyed Least: Nothing to dislike. Surrounding Area: The entire area is beautiful. Nearby Events or Locales: Lucolena was the nearest town. It really wasn't within walking distance. However, you will probably have a car while touring Tuscany so it really isn't a problem. Tips or Restaurants: Everything was provided. While checking in, please ask questions about scenic drives, places to eat, etc. They gave great advice.

Overall: Very positive. Everything was just as described. Great location, large bedrooms, functioning washing machine. Very clean and friendly. The living room was loaded with travel books, restaurant recommendations, sample itineraries etc. Enjoyed Most: The location. I can't think of an area I would rather have been in in Rome. Enjoyed Least: It was a bit noisy. I'm not complaining however. We knew it would be being that close to the Campo di Fiori. Surrounding Area: We concentrated on Rome from this property, we didn't visit any surrounding areas. The location was ideal. We walked, literally, to everything we wanted to see. Nearby Events or Locales: Vatican City was the nearest small town and yes, it was within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: The farmers market on the Campo every morning except Sunday is phenomenal. Make a point of shopping there and eating in a night or two. Per Luigi is a nearby restaurant that we enjoyed. Expensive but worth the splurge. Get a reservation after 9 so you don't look like a tourist. Directions: Take a cab when coming in. Yes we did use GPS to find our way. Check In Out: Everything worked very smoothly. Roberto was right on time and gave us a very nice tour of the property. His English is excellent.

Overall: We absolutely loved the place. It was extremely remote and quiet and provided a relaxing vacation. We were able to experience the quieter side of the island, which we loved! The escort to the property was excellent. She helped us find the grocery store and even waited while we purchased a few essentials. She showed us the gas station and then escorted us out to our remote property. Upon arrival, she reviewed all of the essential items necessary. Enjoyed Most: The remote location and the views. We loved everything about the property. Enjoyed Least: The only negative was the refrigerator. The freezer was not shutting properly and would occasionally melt if not shut properly. The accessible beach/bay was not as easy to reach as we thought it might be. You do need to be in fairly good athletic shape to reach the beach. Surrounding Area: The remote, quiet location. The description of the property did give some warning that there was a property under consruction next door but we did not notice it and we could almost not see the property at all. Nearby Events or Locales: Coral Bay was the closest area to us from the house. It was not within walking distance but was a short drive. Tips or Restaurants: I do recommend making reservations for any of the restaurants in this more remote area. The food was excellent in every restaurant we dined at towards the east end of the island. However, we did find that having a reservation was necessary so they could prepare an adequate amount of food. Restaurant owners seemed to be much more accommodating to diners with a reservation. Directions: There are only a few roads on St. John. It is not difficult to navigate. Check In Out: None! Loved the island and absolutely loved this property. I hope to return some time soon!

Overall: Truly an amazing experience. The property, location, and amenities were incredible. I'd recommend it highly to anyone. Enjoyed Most: The view. Enjoyed Least: Lack of hot water in the showers. Surrounding Area: Local beaches were great. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town was not within walking distance. It is not feasible to stay at this property without transportation. Tips or Restaurants: Must have a rental car. Must practice driving on the "wrong" side of the road. It should be a mid-size auto or smaller. Directions: You might want to ensure the property is registered with the Waze application; we found this helpful for navigation. Check In Out: Corinna was great - very helpful.

Overall: We were delighted. A lovely experience. Enjoyed Most: It was sort of a fairyland-a "peaceable kingdom" Surrounding Area: The historic beaches, museums, etc. The Normandy countryside is exquisite. Lots of horse farms, cabbage, and onions (seasonal). Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town is Valognes, a good-sized town but not particularly attractive. It's a couple of miles from the property. Tips or Restaurants: Bring music. Some great restaurants: La Marine in Carteret-formal, extremely expensive-worth it.La Cap in Carteret. Seaside, informal. Excellent food. Moderate.Le Chasse Maree in Saint-Vaast-La-Hogue. Charming, great seafood. Moderate Directions: It was somewhat difficult to find.

Overall: We could not have asked for a better experience. The setting is breathtaking and relaxing. The owners were extremely accommodating and very friendly. They were always very willing to provide suggestions and directions when asked. It was an absolutely perfect week. Enjoyed Most: We enjoyed the remote location, allowing us to truly relax and enjoy the surroundings. While remote you were never more than a short drive to a village, small town, or city. Surrounding Area: The countryside and the scents of the region. The jasmine was in full bloom and intoxicating. A smell I will remember for a long time. The people were very friendly. Nearby Events or Locales: San Polo. It was not within walking distance but just a short ride by car. Tips or Restaurants: We ate at the restaurant on sight at the villa and had a fabulous meal both times. It did get chilly at night even for late June. Warm days and cool nights Directions: We used a GPS to get to San Polo and then used the directions provided from that point on. The directions were adequate. My suggestion would be to be patient - the distance is difficult to judge due to the winding nature of the roads. Check In Out: Went very smoothly.

Overall: This was a perfect place to spend a relaxing week. Close enough to places we wanted to visit, but also lovely to just stay "home" and enjoy the lovely setting! We wanted to just unwind and do a few little day trips - and this was a perfect location for both. The very charming owners live on the property and had stocked the kitchen with basic necessities and enough food for a couple days, as well as some of their wonderful wine, olive oil, and lavender products. Enjoyed Most: The house, setting, and view! The house is very tastefully decorated with antiques, comfortable furniture, a great bed and linens. The kitchen was also very well stocked. The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed walking around them a bit. The little patio off the bedroom overlooking the valley was our favorite spot for a glass or two of wine each evening. The resident cats and dogs are very well behaved and quiet. They knew we liked them and greeted us every time we returned "home"; the kitties joined us for "happy hour" on our patio. (The cats are not allowed in the house, BTW). Also there was no TV! But great WiFi and a CD player with a wide selection of music. Perfect for relaxing. Enjoyed Least: Nothing!! Just a warning that the last 3 miles to the house are an unpaved road and it is quite bumpy. We didn't mind and took it slow, but tried to get home each evening before it got too dark. Surrounding Area: This area of Umbria has gorgeous hills and valleys with lots of tiny ancient towns. Assisi and Perugia is an easy drive away - and we spent 2 days in and around Assisi. We also visited to Cortona (of "Under the Tuscan Sun" fame). Locally we enjoyed Umbertide and Montone. Actually the landscape was so lovely that we tried to take small, back roads around the area just to go slow and absorb the beauty of the area. (However, if you don't like hilly, curvy road, this would not be for you.) Nearby Events or Locales: Montone is the closest small town, and it is not within walking distance unless really like to hike a ways (5 - 6 miles). It is a medieval hill town you can't really drive into the town. Umbertide is a little farther away and has several "supermarkets" with easy parking. There is a handy notebook in the house that lists places like shops, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Tips or Restaurants: The house was very well stocked. And there was even food there when we arrived! No need to bring a kitchen sponge, dish soap, etc. Restaurants. We didn't eat out at all! We like to cook and stocked up on wonderful pastas, cold cuts, meats, and fresh veggies. The owners have an organic garden available - so we had their fresh tomatoes with fresh mozzarella we bought. Perfect! Directions: Directions on the GPS address brought us right to the gate! Owners supply a remote control for the gate at check-in. Check In Out: Check-in and check-out went very smoothly. The owners are lovely, and we only saw them a couple of times when we were arriving or leaving at the same time. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with them. They both speak excellent English, so no problem there.

Overall: Our overall experience with the property was wonderful. I needed a place that would accommodate our whole family, immediate and extended family. The property was well kept and cared for. This place was large and private enough for our family gathering that it gave each of us enough time and space to gather together while still being able to have some privacy. Enjoyed Most: There is so much to like about this property it is difficult to highlight one thing. The individual apartments, the landscaping, the pools, the location and our host was so gracious and accommodating. Surrounding Area: The Tuscan countryside is so beautiful and charming. So much to do and see, not to mention just sit back and relax and enjoy the scenery and wine. Nearby Events or Locales: Certaldo was the nearest town. It was not within walking distance but it was a short drive away. The train station there provided ample parking with train service to many areas such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, etc...d Tips or Restaurants: We had an incredible meal at Osteria La Saletta which is one of the places our host had recommended. Excellent family run restaurant. Would highly recommend anyone staying here to go to. Plenty of local tours. I recommend the olive oil tasting. We booked through Viator. Directions: GPS did send us to the wrong location. Google maps was a better resource. Check In Out: Smooth check in and check out.

Overall: Wonderful. Enjoyed Most: The view. Enjoyed Least: Needing a car, even though we took the train for day trips. Surrounding Area: Certaldo Alto was a surprise and wonderful. Nearby Events or Locales: Nothing was walking distance, although we did walk to Scione and then called a taxi to get back to the villa. Tips or Restaurants: Certaldo and most small towns in Italy shut down from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, so go shopping early or late; there's nothing going on in this area during these hours.

Overall: Place was idyllic, perfect. Complete privacy, lovely pool, great for a couple. And the price was most reasonable! Views fantastic. Enjoyed Most: All of the above, plus the fact that there were no glitches. Everything worked, the place was nicely equipped, and we never had to make a call about anything. Surrounding Area: The views, and the ability to drive all over St. Thomas from our location for beaches and dinners out. Nearby Events or Locales: Charlotte Amalie, which is definitely not a walk down the mountain. Tips or Restaurants: Don't bring a lot of extra stuff. Rent a small car and feel comfortable driving on the left on narrow roads. Very good restaurants include Ma Jolie nearby, Thirteen, Amalia Cafe, Oceana, Enkai. Directions: We were met at the airport and escorted to the house, after making a stop for first-day groceries.
