Overall: Amazing, the property was more than expected. The Pool and facilities at the pool where outstanding. The ambience of the house and the setting are difficult to describe, very tranquil. Enjoyed Most: Pool side facilities and the large dining room. When we arrived it was very clean. Enjoyed Least: Nothing was unsatisfactory, probably the distance to the trash cans. The drive up to the Villa. Surrounding Area: Tranquil. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town was Volterra and no, you could not walk. The Villa is very secluded, which has advantages, but also made ensuring that we had the basics, etc, an art in planning. Tips or Restaurants: Be aware that it takes a good 20 - 30 mins to get to the nearest supermarket. However the Villa is very well stocked and you will find everything you need. Directions: The only comment is once you follow the directions and find the road, do not loose confidence - it's just higher and longer than expected. Check In Out: The check in time is 5:00pm, which is understandable with a check out of 10:00 am, and the property was immaculate when we arrived. The only downside was for those guest arriving from America that morning who were very tired by check in.

Overall: Fantastic, views amazing. Enjoyed Most: The view. I could sit there for hours looking at the lake, hills and towns across from the villa. Enjoyed Least: Not one thing. Surrounding Area: Towns very friendly. Nearby Events or Locales: Leveno Tips or Restaurants: Good walking shoes. Directions: Use the taxi service and ask the local people in town for recommendations. Check In Out: Very easy; this was truly a great experience.

Overall: We were a group of 11 and enjoyed our breakfast and before dinner cocktails on the terrace. Enjoyed Most: The location was perfect. Enjoyed Least: The stairs were challenging but we got the hang of it and were in better shape by the end of the week! Surrounding Area: Many restaurants and shops easily accessible. Nearby Events or Locales: Positano and yes, we walked down to the center many times. Directions: We had a driver so we had no problem Check In Out: Definitely enlist the aid of a porter to help with the luggage checking in and out because of the stairs.

Overall: Wonderful! The property manager was excellent and a great resource. The experience exceeded our expectations. Enjoyed Most: Individual bathrooms and AC units. Pool, Loggia, and views were spectacular. Very private. Enjoyed Least: Kitchen set-up was a bit awkward and small, but functional. Surrounding Area: Quiet. Beautiful view. Nearby Events or Locales: Castelfiorentino and Montione within 6km but not walking distance. Castelfiorentino did have a train station which was most convenient. Tips or Restaurants: Use local chef that the manager can provide. Casa Masi outsde of Montione was a great restaurant. Directions: GPS highly recommended. Check In Out: Check in was great, we should have done check out the night before.

Overall: More than we hoped for!! It sleeps 6 but we were just 2 so we felt like we were in a castle up on a mountain. Enjoyed Most: All the surroundings, the views, the pool, The outdoor wood burning stove plus a wood burning pizza oven! Enjoyed Least: That I didn't bring 4 other people to enjoy it. Surrounding Area: All the small towns in the area were like time traveling back hundreds of years ago, but with modern conveniences. No matter which way you went it was an adventure with breathtaking views. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest Town was Santa Lucia. You could walk it but the car on the winding mountain roads is the way to go. Tips or Restaurants: Every restautant is a good one as far as we found but we only went for lunches during our daytrips. Mostly we cooked out doors on an open fire. This is what I love to do. Directions: I had a GPS and was able to get to Santa Lucia where I met the Keyholder. Check In Out: Anna, Pepe, and Davide made it an easy check in and check out process.

Overall: We had a terrific time at Villa Cernobbio! We would stay there again. Enjoyed Most: The villa is special, the garden very special, and the location central. Stefano was MORE THAN accommodating. Always there to help. Enjoyed Least: There needs to be a House Book on how to use the appliances. The kitchen needs more utensils. I bought a wisk, but the kitchen needed sharp knives, colander, small frying pan, large water pitchen.

Overall: Lovely place on the mountainside. The view was amazing and the villa was very comfortable. It was a perfect location for all our side trips to hill towns. We traveled to Florence twice on the train. The Conad grocery was well stocked and even carried many GF foods. Enjoyed Most: It was secluded. It was rebuilt from the stones left there from years ago. The inside had modern bathrooms and kitchen. The king beds were comfortable.Beautiful views of the valley. We were surrounded by olive trees. The large rosemary plant in front of the villa was a bonus. Enjoyed Least: The living room was tiny even for the four of us. Need more seating. The upstairs bath only had a hand shower in the tub. Surrounding Area: The roosters in the morning, the view of the Under the Tuscan Sun movie house and the beautiful palace above us. (which is now an art school. ) We were within an hour of several hill towns. The train was close by in Camucia. People are friendly and the food and wines are fabulous Nearby Events or Locales: We were in Cortona. It was a 30 minute walk uphill. We walked into town twice. Many restaurants, churches and shops. Tips or Restaurants: The restaurants in Cortona were all good. You need reservations on the weekend. We usually had lunch in another hill town and either had dinner in Cortona or prepared dinner in the villa. The first couple of days when it was warmer we ate outside. There is a washing machine so you don't need to bring as many clothes.Wear comfortable walking shoes for the hills and steps everywhere. Directions: Someone met us in Camucia and lead us to the villa. This villa is off the beaten path down a walled road in the countryside. Our GPS helped us after that. I would advise getting a GPS for Italy before you go or rent a car with one. Check In Out: It was easy. Sauro was the owner. He knew we were seasoned travelers and left us alone.

Overall: Wonderful, peaceful, with a true Tuscan experience. The hosts/owners were very responsive to any requests and on top of everything. The absolute large size of the villa ensured many small nooks for all to have solitude, if needed. Excellent experience. Enjoyed Most: The size, location, views, interior courtyard and pool area. Enjoyed Least: The kitchen was basic but worked. Surrounding Area: The many small historic towns were great to explore. Nearby Events or Locales: Nothing was within walking distance. A car is mandatory, but not a problem. Directions: Dropped pinnear Castellina in Chianti, Siena. We used the coordinates for the owner's home, which is right beside the villa. Some in our group were unable to input the property coordinates provided on the voucher.

Overall: Villa Carmina is wonderful. There were 13 adults in our party and the villa easily accommodated a group of that size. Enjoyed Most: We were able to return to the villa after excursions to Florence or other Tuscan sites and cool off in the terrific pool. Each of the bedrooms was comfortable and had its own bathroom. Enjoyed Least: One of the bedroom's air conditioner was not working. Editor's Note: The air conditioner is now fully functional. July, 2016. Surrounding Area: The villa is set among vineyards and olive orchards even though it is only a few minutes from the Florence to Siena highway. Nearby Events or Locales: Tavarnelle Val di Pesa is the nearby town - very pleasant to visit, but not walking distance Directions: Since we had multiple cars, we used different GPS systems to find the house. One system (Garmin) did not find the address initially. Check In Out: The owners of the villa are wonderful and helped make our stay very memorable.

Overall: The villa was wonderful and the views were stunning. Sitting on the back patio and looking out over the Mediterranean sea with the Isle of Capri in the background has created a special memory. Enjoyed Most: The views were wonderful, the orchard trees on the property provided apricots, figs, lemons, pears, and olives, and the serenity, peace, and quiet was totally relaxing. Enjoyed Least: Minor issue: There was only one key to the annex room and we got locked out one time when the door got closed inadvertently. Another set of keys would have been helpful. Surrounding Area: Everything! Spectacular views of the Mediterranean, easy access to Sorrento, Pompeii, the Isle of Capri, St. Agata, and close proximity to Massa Lubrense. Wonderful restaurants, cafes, and friendly town folks. Must go to Angelo's Bar down by the sea at the base of Massa Lubrense and Lo Stuzzichino Ristorante in St. Agata. Nearby Events or Locales: Massa Lubrense is within walking distance and a wonderful small town with cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores. Tips or Restaurants: Bring mosquito repellent if you're the type that attracts them. As noted above, in Massa Lubrense near the sea there is Angelo's Bar and Funiculi Funicula as well as several other great restaurants; in the town itself and in St. Agata there is Lo Stuzzichino Ristorante and many other wonderful restaurants. Directions: The villa is down a small road off the main road as you are driving into Massa Lubrense. We used GPS, but the best recommendation is to call the key holder or property manager 30 minutes before you arrive to Massa Lubrense and have them meet you in town so they can take you to the villa. They both live in St. Agata, which is about a 20 minute drive, so call enough time in advance so you're not waiting long. Check In Out: The process was very easy and both Gianni and Lucia were very helpful. Gianni checked in on us daily and gave us many great recommendations for restaurants. He also booked our full day boat trip to the Isle of Capri. We celebrated his Saint Day in St. Agata at a restaurant with him and he covered several courses of food and an endless flow of red and white wine for all in attendance. Just an all around wonderful gentleman!

Overall: We loved the house - perfect for 2 people. Would be cozy for 4. Cleaner comes in twice weekly. Very comfortably furnished with character antiques. Light and bright, very clean. Great place to use as a base for the surrounding area as well as to rest, relax and cook in. Pool is really just a plunge pool, rather than a swimming pool, but perfect for that. Very friendly owners. Enjoyed Most: The comfort, attention to detail, the light, the surrounding greenery, location. Enjoyed Least: It took us a while to get comfortable with the closeness of the owners' house. This place is literally a stone's throw away - but they did everything to maximize our privacy.Mosquitos are bad between 6-9pm and in order to sit/eat outdoors you definitely need coils and citronella candles. Surrounding Area: Wonderful sleepy and friendly town of Monte Marcello. Tellaro is a fabulous local fishing village. Sarzana is a wonderful thriving little town. Nicola is a lovely hill town to visit. Bocca Di Magra Ameglia, too. The area has exquisite views of the Ligurian coastline, surrounding hills and awe inspiring Carrara marble mountains.Cinque Terre, Lucca, Pisa and Florence within easy driving distance for those who want more action and bustle. Nearby Events or Locales: The house is on the edge of Monte Marcello. Terrible restaurants, great cafes, wonderful, very strenuous walk down and up to a black sand beach, otherwise only accessible by boat.Picturesque Bocca di Magra 5 mins by car - yacht millionaires paradise with restaurants overlooking the river.Nearest supermarket is Ameglia - 10 mins by car. You can get basics at the tiny grocery store in Monte Marcello. Tips or Restaurants: I Capetelli in Sarzana - best dining experience so far. Ottone Primo also good. Lucerno di Ferro on Bocca di Magra. La Lanterna in Riomaggiore.Bring a pocket-sized flashlight to light the pathway home at night. Directions: GPS essential. Check In Out: The owners were very accommodating and friendly.

Overall: Great! The owner lives on the property and was very friendly and helpful. She gave us lots of "local" tips and went out of her way to make our stay a dream vacation. Enjoyed Most: It was located on the quieter end of the island above Kamari beach, so it was really nice for those of us who wanted to be out of the mainstream. The villa was beautiful and well-equipped, clean and charming. It had a great territorial view of the Kamari area and sea, as well as up the hillside towards Pyrgos. Enjoyed Least: The one bedroom has stairs, so just be aware if you travel with someone with mobility issues. Surrounding Area: Kamari beach was very close, as was Pyrgos. A winery and brewery were within walking distance. The island was easily accessible by car, so we were able to see the entire island at our leisure. For those who enjoy hiking, there were several paths from the villa either up hill or down to the beach area. Nearby Events or Locales: The little town below was just a small residential area, but had some beautiful walking paths up the hill with great views. Tips or Restaurants: Rent a car and see the island--it's fantastic and you can travel in and around the cruise ship groups!! We took a catamaran trip off-island and it was well worth the extra expense. Directions: The owner, Lianne, met us at the airport and drove us back to the villa. It was perfect and greatly appreciated. The villa is just 5 minutes from the airport. Check In Out: Lianne was a great hostess and was incredibly helpful without being intrusive. She made the visit that much better by offering insights on places to eat, visit, tips on dealing with the locals, etc.

Overall: The property was as advertised or even better. It was spacious, well equipped with plenty of dishes and cookware, modern appliances and nicely decorated. The location was excellent for touring other areas of Provence. Enjoyed Most: The spaciousness, comfort of the bedrooms and location in a lovely small town which we would have otherwise been unlikely to visit. Enjoyed Least: We had some difficulty initially with the WiFi and had to hook up directly to the box instead of just using the password. There were no directions for the appliances or what to do with the trash and recycling. Surrounding Area: The towns of St. Saturnin les Apt and nearby Saignon were delightful with ancient ruins that were fun to explore. St Nearby Events or Locales: St. Saturnin les Apt. We did not choose to walk there. If you were a hiker and don't mind hills I suppose you could walk there. Tips or Restaurants: You will need to bring all spices and cooking supplies, bath, laundry and shower supplies. There was an initial supply of toilet paper and paper towels but more were needed. They did supply dish soap and dishwasher tablets (one per day). Sheets and towels were provided. The Saint Hubert Hotel was an excellent choice for dinner. Directions: Our GPS got us to the neighborhood but not the house as it did not recognize the street address. There is an olive oil mill (moulin de huile, I think) where you need to make a left turn before you find the street. There are also 2 sets of gates (one open and one needing to be opened for you) before you get to the house. We called the key holder who came and found where we were and guided us to the house. Check In Out: The key holder spoke very little English and we spoke only a little French so her explanation of how to use the appliances wasn't as helpful as it could be. The washer/dryer was most confusing and ran for hours (probably because of how we set it the first time). Wound up just washing in the machine and using outdoor drying rack.

Overall: All of us are seasoned travelers, some having traveled to Europe over 25 times. We agree that this was as close to perfect as any accommodation any of us have ever had. The building, furnishings, pool, and grounds were exceptionally beautiful. As much as we enjoyed traveling to medieval towns and wineries, we equally enjoyed just sitting in the villa or on one of its patios and enjoying the serenity and each other's company. When I pay a premium price, I expected premium product. Honestly, in every way, my expectations were more than met. Enjoyed Most: Most of us had traveled to Tuscany several times. Consequently, we had very high expectations for our accommodations. Perhaps the best indication of how much we enjoyed the property can be seen in the fact that when we returned home and discussed a trip with friends, much of the discussion centered around the positive experience we had at the villa. The view from each window was a Tuscan postcard. Surrounding Area: There is a beautiful winery within walking distance of our villa. Within an hour drive there were many many medieval cities and wineries to explore. It is only an hour drive to Siena and a 2- hour drive to Florence. Nearby Events or Locales: Montepulciano is a medieval hill town that is about five kilometers from the villa. In addition to many find restaurants and other interesting sites, there was a co-op where we were able to buy all the provisions we needed. Tips or Restaurants: Although there are many interesting restaurants within driving distance of the Villa, we highly recommend that future renters consider engaging the services of Cinzia's Group of Chefs. Through Rentvillas we contracted for a meal to be prepared in the villa. Three chefs arrived and prepared an amazing authentic meal. Several afternoons later they returned to conduct a cooking class for five members of our group. Our friends prepared a five course meal for all ten of us that was delicious. Directions: All four cars as well as the chef had difficulty locating the villa. Perhaps adding the actual GPS coordinates would be of help. Check In Out: The check-in and checkout process went smoothly.

Overall: Awesome, peaceful, as well as relaxing. Enjoyed Most: The size of the villa with everyone having their own space, as well as the cleanliness. Also, the helpfulness of the gentleman on staff when needed. Enjoyed Least: Location was very close to Florence. Next time I would like to be higher up into the hills. And have a microwave available, as stated in the description. Surrounding Area: Close to main roads for traveling. Nearby Events or Locales: Yes, it was possible to get into Florence by bike. Tips or Restaurants: As far as things to bring, the house had everything possible. You may want to bring an adapter for electrical items. Directions: Definitely have a GPS. Check In Out: Everything was perfect and hassle-free.

Overall: Only one word to describe it...INCREDIBLE. Close to Cortona - walking distance (uphill) 5-7 mins. The villa is 2nd to none - has the Tuscany look on the outside and the inside is STATE of the ART and extremely comfortable. The bedrooms were awesome, bathrooms amazing. Inside eating area was perfect, kitchen quaint. The patio and outside area was absolutely perfect - shaded area that protected us from the rain. Although we didn't use the pool because of rain and temp - its a perfect setting. Enjoyed Most: Location near Cortona and the quality of the property - sleeping arrangements were perfect with plenty of space for everyone. Surrounding Area: Proximity to everything - walking to Cortona, driving to virtually everywhere. Nearby Events or Locales: Cortona - 5-7 min walk. Tips or Restaurants: I would recommend bathrobe and slippers. Rent a car.Sylvia will give you everything you need for recommendations. Definitely take a couple of day trips - we went to Assisi and several other small towns. A MUST is having Chef Francesco cook for you - best two meals in three weeks; we arranged these through RentVillas. Also the Del Brenna experience was unforgettable - ask Sylvia. Directions: Sylvia gives you everything you need - and meets you if you are lost. GPS was worthless- in general (not related to the villa) use your iPhone Maps - walking, driving works perfect. Check In Out: Sylvia was awesome!

Overall: We just had a marvelous time at the villa. It was a stunning building and the rooms were great. It was all very comfortable and the pool and cabana were especially fabulous. We had 4 days straight of 100 degree heat, so the air conditioning and pool were incredible. Enjoyed Most: The view. The pool. The cook. Enjoyed Least: The "farm" smell from the working farm. But, we just joked about it and knew that we were in a beautiful, but rural, area. Surrounding Area: The sunflower fields were such a surprise. We just missed the full-field blooms, but it was lovely. It was easy to get to many of the local towns and the views everywhere were just amazing. Nearby Events or Locales: Agello is a tiny local town about 1 mile away - all uphill! While my husband did walk up one day, it was really unsafe to do so on the tiny, narrow roadway. And, it really was all uphill, so you have to be in good shape to make the trek. Tips or Restaurants: Definitely bring mosquito repellent. We forgot ours and needed calamine lotion from the local pharmacy. If you are coming in the summer, you need lots of water. And, if you need ice, bring your own ice trays! The local restaurants recommended were fun, but having the cook was brilliant! Directions: Directions were really challenging, since there are few signs. We did rent an international GPS, but it often totally conflicted with the directions. We did find our way and then got the hang of it. More landmarks and clearer directions when you get off the exit would have helped. Check In Out: Martina, our hostess, could not have been more wonderful. She was welcoming, charming, and so kind. She is a local, so she knew exactly the winery we should visit and arranged for a tour of an olive orchard with a local family that was wonderful.

Overall: We could not imagine it to better than it was. Enjoyed Most: The large outdoor shaded seating areas with the stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the village. Surrounding Area: The picturesque village with all its restaurants. Nearby Events or Locales: A fifteen minute stroll downhill. Going back to the villas took a little longer. Tips or Restaurants: We visited many restaurants and they were all excellent. Some things are hard to find on the island, like fresh meat for barbecuing. Directions: The host of the property met us and dropped us off at the ferry Check In Out: The host made us feel extremely welcome and did a great job.
