“Overall: Simply outstanding! Lucca is a wonderful city and Operetta was a wonderful and charming place to stay. Enjoyed Most: Great location and roomy/comfortable apartment. Enjoyed Least: Nothing. Loved everything. Surrounding Area: Lucca is a charming city that immerses the visitor immediately into Italian life. Nearby Events or Locales: Operetta is in the town of Lucca which is wonderful and very walkable. Tips or Restaurants: Grocery store was around the corner and other food supplies easily obtained. Directions: No comment as we took a cab. Check In Out: The staff were incredible and helped us tremendously when British Airways took three days to deliver our baggage.”

“Overall: Overall, very good experience. Enjoyed Most: We liked how big it was and the privacy of the bedrooms. Enjoyed Least: The bathroom in the master bedroom needed repair. “Overall: Great experience. Enjoyed Most: Very modern and close--within a 15-minute walk to major sites. Surrounding Area: Close to restaurants, supermarkets, and touristic sites. Tips or Restaurants: Eat at any restaurant, never had a bad meal.Go to Campo di Fiori and eat at Ristocampo and try any panini on the menu. It is just off the piazza. The best paninis ever. Went back for a second time to grab a panini for the plane ride home. Directions: Very easy to get to from Termini Train Station. Only three blocks away. Easy walk Check In Out: We arrived about a half-hour early and the apartment of course was not ready. Went out to get something to eat and came back a few hours later. The owner of the apartment and hotel was great. Showed us around the apartment and how to use everything, showed us where the apartment was in relation to the sites of Rome. Angelo was wonderful!”

“Overall: This property fulfilled all of our images of what a Tuscan vacation would be. The family was incredibly gracious, hospitable and helpful. It was a stunning experience. Having been built on Etruscan ruins and having a history that can be traced to ca. 1100 A.D., this property was the perfect place for us - a group of teachers - to be.The pictures on the web site do not come close to doing justice to the estate. Enjoyed Most: Spaciousness and grandeur of the estate, and the family that owned it. It was stunning. I was responsible for finding the villa where our group of 30 would be staying. When I was asked what was the best part of our 2 weeks in Tuscany, I replied that it was the awed and stunned reaction of my colleagues when they arrived at the end of the cedar-lined drive at the villa. I am very happy that I took my Travel Advisor's recommendation and chose this property. The villa and the 2 dinners that the owners arranged for us where nothing short of magical. Enjoyed Least: nothing Surrounding Area: There were no urban or suburban developments nearby. It was convenient to all the major Tuscan cities and hill towns. Nearby Events or Locales: Monteriggioni was within a 30-45 minute walk. This walled town was the spectacular view from almost any place on the estate. It was magical. Tips or Restaurants: Don't be hesitant ask the owners about suggestions for restaurants they never steered us wrong.”

“Overall: I would and already have recommended the villa to anyone. My experience with your firm was excellent. When I return to Tuscany I intend to stay at the same location. Enjoyed Most: The ambiance, the history, and the location. Enjoyed Least: Swimming pool was not very convenient or useful. Surrounding Area: The view, convenience for grocery shopping, and convenience to the areas we were interested in touring. Nearby Events or Locales: Monteriggioni, yes Tips or Restaurants: Future guests should be aware of the presence of the large dogs, not an issue for us, but I would be surprised if it is not for some people. The restaurant at Monteriggioni was one of our best meals in Tuscany. The cooking class at the villa was a very good time for everyone.”

“Overall: The property was very comfortable. Enjoyed Most: It was spacious, and secure. The stereo and a great selection of music. Great place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. Enjoyed Least: No private outside areas for smoking or socialising. Surrounding Area: Close to groceries and patisseries. The 8 metro line is across the street, and will connect to anywhere you want to go. Nearby Events or Locales: The Bastille is a ten minute walk straight down rue Amelot. There is a fabulous market there on Sundays, and good places to shop and eat daily. Tips or Restaurants: Bring your coffee cup.”

“Overall: It was lovely -- very relaxing, we had everything we needed. The property is beautiful. A great vacation spot with family and friends! Enjoyed Most: Walking through the national park, winery next door, great kitchen, comfortable sitting areas, pool was lovely, ponds and fountains. It was an easy place for a large gathering, as people could mingle or sit quietly by themselves and read, as they wished. The staff were tremendously helpful. Enjoyed Least: It was terrific. Would have been nice to be able to go into the garden ourselves to pick vegetables, but that is such a minor point-- it was really fabulous. Surrounding Area: Going on long walks, the winery next door, strolling around Sitjes, their restaurant, easy train ride to Barcelona. Nearby Events or Locales: St. Pere de Ribas or Sitjes, neither were within walking distance. You had to drive everywhere. Tips or Restaurants: Be sure to visit the winery next door for a tasting! Directions: Some GPS worked but others couldn't locate the property. Directions were pretty good, but still easy to get lost. Some taxis got lost, others had no problem. Check In Out: They accommodated those of us arriving early by letting us hang out at the restaurant until the villa was ready--this made meeting up with everyone much easier, as flights arrived at different times.”

“Overall: A fabulous week. Enjoyed Most: The layout was absolutely perfect. Enjoyed Least: Couldn't find the silverware drawer! Surrounding Area: Different and beautiful. “Overall: Overall, we had a fabulous experience. The house and property were even more beautiful and spacious than advertised. The home was well equipped with linens, etc. We couldn't have asked for a nicer experience. Enjoyed Most: The lovely terraced grounds and gorgeous views. Enjoyed Least: Many of the bedroom windows did not have screens and had to be kept closed at night. Otherwise, no complaints. Surrounding Area: The surrounding area was beautiful. Lovely views, picturesque chateaux everywhere we turned, lots of interesting things to do nearby but very few tourists, and an abundant supply of great food and wine! Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town, Plazac, was really just a tiny village. It was about 5 minutes (driving) from the house. One could walk, but we did not as there were no sidewalks and we had a couple of small children along on the trip. Directions: We used the GPS coordinates provided to map out our journey. The last bit was tricky; it would have been helpful to have a few landmarks to help guide us. We found the right road through the process of elimination.”

“Overall: We had an absolutely wonderful time. The pool was perfect and the guys loved the creek with the water falls. Enjoyed Most: It was walking distance to an old town and a long walk to another town. The villa was lovely, the hosts were very helpful and kind. The pool was fantastic. The lavender and butterfly bushes were in full bloom. Enjoyed Least: That we had to leave after 2 weeks!! Surrounding Area: Close to many old walled towns. Ah,the patisserie was 4 min. away by car. Close to Nice, a wonderful sandy beach, and Grasse. A day trip from the Grande Canyon of Verdon. Nearby Events or Locales: Tourrettes was maybe 10 min. walking. Fayence was maybe another 10 min away from Tourrettes. Tips or Restaurants: Fayence has some good restaurants. Directions: A map with details on it would have been great to have! 23 of our party wandered around for awhile. Check In Out: The hosts were great!”

“Overall: The villa is just as we expected. The pictures posted on rentvillas.com were very accurate!Definitely should speak French to get around. Very helpful.I'm the only French-speaking person in the family, so we did OK.A car with GPS is a "must"The English couple, the local managers, are very nice and helpful with nice suggestions for restaurants and places to visitWe had a wonderful time driving around visiting chateaux, Lourdes, Toulouse, and San Sebastian in Spain. Went to the town Pau, a 45 min drive, to watch the Tour de France going by, very exciting! Plenty of things to do in 2 weeks! Brochures of places to visit are available at the villa, very handy. Enjoyed Most: 1. Clean bathrooms and nice bedrooms, mattresses were in good shape plenty of towels.2. Kitchen is sufficient Tupperwares are available for packing food for picnic or leftovers. Plenty of different size dishes, cups and glasses.3. Hair dryer and iron are provided, so less things to pack.4. TV has English Cable so you don't have to watch French TV.5. Phone calls within France are free. Enjoyed Least: TV is very small. But it's better than none.Having a laundry dryer would be nice. Editor's Note: A large flat screen TV and dryer have been installed. September, 2013 Surrounding Area: The front yard is well kept and nice looking.A bit inconvenient to get out of the car to open/close the front gate. But no big deal. Nearby Events or Locales: Vic en Bigorre is the nearest town (15-minute drive), with 3 grocery stores, Intermarche, Leader Price, and Carrefour. They close earlier than U.S. stores, 7:00 pm Mon-Fri, and 1:00 pm on Sat-Sun. Tips or Restaurants: 1. Must have a car with GPS and unlimited mlieage. We used AVIS, and got a Ford Focus using Diesel. Decent car.2. Reusable grocery bags for grocery. They charge for bags.3. Bring/buy laundry detergent, shampoo, etc.4. More restaurants to choose from in Tarbes - 30 min drive. In small town, most restaurants are only open for dinner, but there are always sandwich shops.5. Rent a car with Diesel instead of regular gas, since it is less expensive.6. Bring umbrellas and/or raincoats! It rained quite a bit in July.7. Most American credit/debit cards don't work at Gas Station, stores. However, you can get cash from Some ATMs. It's easier that way. Directions: GPS works. The given directions from the voucher is from Toulouse, and we drove from Paris.”

“Overall: Our stay was incredible. From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for something special. The pictures we had were nice, but no picture could capture the beauty of this place. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, the room felt Old World but had every modern appliance, and the view were some of the best Tuscany had to offer. Enjoyed Most: To pick one thing would be to absurd. If forced all I could say would be: My favorite thing about the property are the memories and stories it gave me. Enjoyed Least: While the windows had no screens and felt we were eaten alive by insects, I have to say there was no real negative experience. Surrounding Area: The location of the property was central to just about every major tourist attraction-town. Florence was a 20 minute drive... this made exploration of Tuscany easy and fun. Nearby Events or Locales: Bargino was the small town located nearby. It was within walking distance -we did in fact walk there. But the majority of the walk is up the steep road and not recommended for foot travel on a regular basis. Tips or Restaurants: Our room came fully stocked. The exploration of San Casciano is well worth the time. It came to be our favorite Tuscan town and was NOT considered to be a good tourist point by any travel book. Directions: Be patient. Once you start getting close to the property, the directions are perfect and easy to follow.”

“Overall: Very good. There were 6 adults and 2 children. My grandsons of 11 and 10 years of age loved the basket ball, Ping Pong, and swimming poool. Enjoyed Most: The location and the grounds. Enjoyed Least: We missed our dryer, but it's good to get to know other cultures! Nearby Events or Locales: Santa Maria del Giudice is within walking distance; it has a small super market, church, coffee house, restaurants, laundry. Tips or Restaurants: First, bring a car. Plan on purchasing supplies, including toilet paper, before you arrive.”

“Overall: We were extremely pleased with the property. Enjoyed Most: Right in the heart of the village. Enjoyed Least: After the first day we could not access the Internet, although we talked to the owners about it. Surrounding Area: Ease of getting to Lucca, Pisa, Florence and other areas. Nearby Events or Locales: Santa Maria del Giudice. We were right in heart of village. I could visit the church on my way to morning cafe and only walk about 2 minutes Tips or Restaurants: Everything was pretty informal. Bring a bathing suit, great pool. Great pastries and restaurants in village Directions: We rented a GPS; that got us nearby. Check In Out: You just hand the owner the voucher, she shows you the apartment, looks at passports, does not collect any additional money for fees, shows you where to park and then leaves you to enjoy yourself.”

“Overall: The location was outstanding. We felt very safe. Just 2 blocks from the Vatican and a fantastic pizza and gelato place just across the street. Also very close to the metro which will take you anywhere in the city. Enjoyed Most: One of the most fun things we did each day is to walk to the market just 2 blocks away and get fresh fruits and vegetables. The Italians were so friendly and helpful and even though none of us could speak each other's language, we communicated and enjoyed such fresh produce. You can even purchase wine if you bring your own container for 1.67 euros per liter! Enjoyed Least: No air conditioning but we were provided with 2 fans which made sleeping easy with the windows opened.”
