Repaircare are an appallingly dysfunctional organisation. They have no engineers or technical staff themselves but act solely as a call centre, farming out jobs to other companies. This farming out has obvious problems particularly if customers attempt to contact any of the various partners when work has not been done. Our complaint is based on the following. On March 13th our 18 month old Hotpoint HUE61GS cooker shorted out the house electrical system when the oven was switched on. I contacted Repaircare and was originally told that an engineer would call on March 30th under Job No. C6004373. However, after explaining that we are in our 80s and have no other means of cooking, that date was brought forward to the 22nd. However again, on the morning of the 19th we were told that, due to a cancellation, an engineer would arrive that afternoon. He did and looked at the cooker, saying that the fan motor wire had been wrongly fitted during Hotpoint’s manufacture and that this was causing a short circuit. He left at around 16:00 and at 18:15 we started to prepare dinner. But, when the oven was switched on the trip switch was again triggered - i.e. the “repair” had been a failure. I then received a “Call Completion” email, not from Repaircare but from Whirlpool, to which I replied at 1839, receiving a response to say that I should contact Hotpoint ( yes – this is becoming ridiculous ) the following day. I did this - spending more than three hours on the telephone and Hotpoint “Live Chat” ( ? ) - and eventually received a text from Hotpoint - not Repaircare, who seemed less than interested now that they had taken our money. This text said that one of the Hotpoint engineers would attend on the afternoon of the 22nd March. No-one arrived or messaged so I contacted Hotpoint and Repaircare again. Hotpoint texted to say that an engineer would attend “ between 13:02 and 16:02 on the 23rd. Again no-one came. I spent hour another hour talking to a Repaircare representative this morning after a wasted hour on two blanked “Live Chat” sessions with Hotpoint . Note that it is impossible to speak to Hotpoint by telephone with respect to complaints. Repaircare tell me that their communications with Hotpoint, Whirlpool, Indesit, etc., are always poor and that relevant information very often gets lost in transit. They say that, so far as they were concerned, the job had been satisfactorilly completed regardless of Hotpoint’s engineer bookings . They now say that it will take another full day before they can find what went wrong with cooker and the work for which they have taken my money and much longer before they can get someone to fix our oven. As stated, we are an elderly couple in our 80s and totally reliant on electricity for cooking and heating. We have copies of all the relevant Live Chat and texts with dates and times.

I accepted the fixed price quote (AEG washer/dryer) The fault was fully declared. Engineer cam and cleaned a filter. As the machine dried ok on a drying only programme, but on a wash/dry programme didn't a filter common to both seemed an unlikely cause. But I'm not an expert. Eventually got a recall, after many waits on the phone (only got when I found email) the engineer made a second call and said it could be the programmer but he'd change the water valve coil and to see how it went. I tested 5 cycles and the original fault was the same. War refused 3rd call as my 90 days were expired. The 90 days are stated as "after the repair" and I never got a repair. But repaircare said if I wanted it fixed to pay again. AVOID this company it has a bad rating (and about the lowest 121 out of 123 on trustpilot as I found out afterwards)

Avoid, avoid, avoid Placed an order for an oven repair last year and eventually got a booking confirmation for a date just before Xmas - no engineer arrived and didn't receive a message until 4pm saying due to high demand it would be after Xmas. That was Xmas lunch made difficult! Repaircare didn't care! Severely let down. Had to prompt for a date. Very poor communications, engineer overworked & didn't seem to care and gave only minutes warning before visit in February!. Two months to get a visit - at which he refused to work on the cooker because the supply pipe installation done 25 years ago wasn't quite to regulations. Could have repaired the cooker - previous engineers have had no issues. I had been warned that they look for any issue to claim the £45 and do no work. Avoid this company.

Absolutely disgraceful company and fraudulent, AVOID AVOID AVOID!! Paid £175 to this company to repair my fridge as it broke down the week before Christmas. Firstly the engineer never showed up when I spent a wasted a work day waiting for him to arrive at my house, never rang or notified that he would not show up. Due to this I cancelled within the applicable timeframe yet I still have not received my money back. I call every day regarding my £175 refund, they put the phone down or give me a load of false excuses. I've waited over 3 weeks now and have contacted my bank fraud department. I would strongly recommend not using this company, they are a scam and will not provide you the service they are offering but will take your money straight away. I am writing on every possible review site about this company because they are fraudulent. Thanks for taking the £175 from my account, as a single mother that meant I couldn't pay for essentials over Christmas. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Probably a scam. The only thing they certainly did was to take money from my bank account. The engineer didn't come to do the repair on the agreed date. I gave them a second chance and no engineer showed up either. I'm now waiting for a refund. 5 star reviews below are probably fake: "Very good working", "Good working", "Excellent working". Really?

Avoid this company at all costs. Paid £99 for my vacuum to be repaired and received an email stating that an engineer was booked in. I then received a phone call from a rude and abrupt lady to arrange for me to post my vacuum cleaner to them ( really????). She stated under no circumstances would an engineer be attending; despite the fact this is what we paid for. I asked for a full refund which, to be fair, she agreed to. I would not under any circumstances give this company any money until they provided the service they have charged for. I would personally go further and avoid this company at all costs....

Waited in all day on the day of the repair - nothing, when I called they said they couldn’t come out until the error code was checked and they were still waiting for that information - all it takes is a call to let your customer know. Absolutely rubbish service, just don’t bother

Check out the 5* reviews, totally fake! This company is a scam, please save your money. They take your money upfront, do not repair, then keep your money. The no repair, no fee is utter rubbish because they have already taken your money and run. Do not be fooled by the trusted shops logo either, they are just as bad, allowing a company with so many poor reviews to operate under their logo. Please take notice of the poor reviews and don’t be an idiot like me and hand over your money. Any reputable company would only take a call out fee upfront, not demand payment in full before so much as booking an appointment

DO NOT USE!! original booking cancelled then rebooked for 2 days later. The engineer came and was here for 30 seconds. Needed part that they don't ever carry. Then nothing. No callbacks. No emails until I threatened legal action. It was decided that my repair was too costly but nobody informed me. Now waiting for a refund!

The most appalling customer care I have received in a very long time. I suspect the 5* reviews below are from RepairCare employees. Total indifference and inefficiency and the word Care should not be in the company name.

So much for 'No fix; no fee'. In fact, Repaircare takes payment upfront, 'books' the repair for the very next day! and then says the householder wasn't at home so they'll only refund less a 'call-out charge'. Stay away from them.

Vey unethical and cheats customers with confusing customer with false explanation of the issue. Never use their service. I had an issue with my Bosch Dish washer and got the service from repaircare in the month of January, 2020. They had taken the dish washer to their service center and took more than a month to return it back. I again got a problem today and this time I called a service person from Bosch company and got shocked when he mentioned that the repair and replacement which was done by the repaircare service person was not at all required and they basically have replaced my original equipment with some improper equipment. Also that the repaircare has charged more than double the price of the equipments. I have the receipts and other document to prove my review. Very unethical practice by repaircare and I request all the reviewers whoever is reading my review to never use repaircare for any sort of service.

Upon having been lied to by Repaircare I have found this page, wish I’d looked a bit better first. As all the others on here the company’s business model is a scam designed for them to pick and choose which jobs they take, when they find out it costs more than the fixed fee they pretend the part is no longer available so appliance is unrepairable! They take the money, sit on it for weeks gaining interest. If I could give zero or negative stars I would.

Disgrace. Awful company. Took down wrong post code even though i called immediately to rectify. Then cancelled appointment due to wrong post code. Then cancelled again due to part not arriving. Then can cancelled again due to customer service agent not confirming my appointmen even though i have mobile records proving i called to confirm. I have been waiting over 1 month for a repair. USELESS COMPANY WITH INCOMPETANT STAFF AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

The engineer 'missed' two problems with my double-oven cooker; said it needed a new fan & he would order it that day on his return to their office. He did neither and their pen-pushers in the office still wont tell me when the part is likely to be received or when i can expect a return visit. If I dont here back by the end of Thursday working time end. I will lodge a dispute claim with my debit card that was charged.

Avoid at all cost, just trust the experiences of other people!! Repair Care treated me, their customer, as a joke. Their engineer came last friday to confirm the problem with our fridge freezer and today because I called them and insisted to find out what is going on I was served lies and disrespect. I had to contact their contractor to find out what is happening with the piece they had to order, I spoke with everybody because nobody is giving a straight answer, a reason, nobody even kept in touch with me during this time. To find out at the end of it that the piece is over their repair limit so they will charge me the call out fee. The piece is not over their repair limit, i confirmed the price of the piece with Panasonic and the only reason I chose Repair care is because Panasonic recommended and said they are giving the pieces only to them in my area. So I am stuck with a 6 years old expensive fridge freezer that could be repaired by replacing the pcb but simply won't. Avoid at all cost this company, they don't give a penny on their customers, they washed their hands on the whole process saying the contractor should have kept in touch, should have checked the piece, should have ordered the piece. I paid them!!!, not their contractor. I don't want a reply, all I wanted was this to be repaired, honesty and good customer service. It took 3 days for them to find out the piece number, I found it out in one minute speaking with Panasonic..it's just a joke...just give me my money back and leave me!

Booked a fixed price repair for a cooker oven. I was very clear about one of the potential reasons for the fault. The repair was accepted and an engineer arrived as planned. The actual fault was different to what I had suspected and the engineer requested the replacement parts. repaircare.co.uk refused to approve the repair and cancelled the job (without informing us, I had to chase them after hearing nothing for 3 weeks) - the reason given, they don't cover the fault that I listed in my request. They have refunded part of what I paid - they should have refunded the full amount. Firstly, they shouldn't have accepted the job in the first place; secondly they do actually cover the fault as described by the engineer and so they shouldn't have cancelled it. The cooker has now been repaired by another more reliable and honest company.
