Australians -- and quite likely buyers from most other countries -- should NOT use Reverb anymore. Period. Over the years I have had shaky experiences with Reverb. The last week has been a game-changer, and I will never buy from them again. This is not just a comment on my experience. This affects buyers everywhere. I bought a guitar from the USA. We know what that looks like. We see a price, we see a shipping price, we see a total price. We click, we pay. Apart from leaving positive feedback for the seller when it arrives, that should be the end of the buyer's involvement in the transaction. It is called buying something in "good faith". However, the seller advises that they now cannot proceed with the transaction using Reverb. They could get quotes for FedEx and DHL, which greatly exceeded the cost of the guitar (which in itself was not a cheap one). But they cannot see any UPS or USPS options. I have done this many times, so offer some advice, but there seems to be something wrong at Reverb's end. So I contact them in chat. This is the summary. If Reverb wants to counter these comments, they should remember that they have sent me the chat transcript, so I reserve the right to reveal those comments. The take-away from the chat session is this: *** Reverb do not now offer USPS or UPS shipping to Australia (and, presumably, elsewhere) *** They will not tell you this. They will not tell the seller this. You will simply see a shipping price which corresponds to the shipping rates for, say, USPS (to the dollar!), but they -- and only they -- are fully aware they cannot honour it. I mention that this amounts to fraud. They knowingly present a total cost that is WAAAAYYYYYYYYY cheaper than what they can offer. Acting in "good faith", we have already bought the item and paid for shipping. For Reverb, that "good faith" amounts to nothing. They got extremely detailed about how I could cancel the order. But I wanted the guitar. Yet cancellation seemed to be the favoured response from Reverb. But there's more. The dialogue with the rep revealed contradictions. First they said that Reverb no longer offers USPS or UPS. That sounds like a Reverb issue, right? Later in the discussion they said: "USPS no longer ship to Australia at this time". Ohhhhhh... So now it is a USPS (and, by implication) a UPS issue!!! It is, of course, an outrageous fabrication. When I point to the contradiction and ask which of these stories is true, they try and merge them, saying that Reverb no longer offer USPS/UPS services because those services are no longer provided by USPS/UPS. The deceit is getting worse. I also pointed out that this practice is fraudulent as they are making an item a lot cheaper than it is to buy -- AND -- the extra costs only appear AFTER the purchase has been made!!! They said they should probably change that! Oh? Ya think? Derr. But there is a final contradiction in the meandering story of why it is OK for them to perpetrate fraudulent pricing. The Reverb rep states that the seller should go to USPS and sort out their own shipping. Two things. First, I have already paid for the shipping. How has the buyer's role unexpectedly changed to one where the purchase marks the start of some hidden 2nd phase in the transaction? Second, this is yet another contradiction. The rep stated that USPS does not deliver to Australia at this time. BUT then suggests that the seller go to USPS to negotiate shipping to Australia!!! This can only be incompetence or fraud. Actually, no. The reality is that it appears to be *both*. My guess is that Reverb has some beef with UPS and USPS and so have refused to offer their services. But they still use their rates to make sales appear more attractive. The buyer proceeds in "good faith". All we know is that we are buying something, shipping costs added to the total. The seller is also acting in "good faith". They are simply using what Reverb provides as tools for the seller. Reverb is the only party that seems to think that acting in "good faith" is a meaningless concept. The entire job of Reverb is to be an intermediary. But they stink at it. Clearly. Why would anyone use an intermediary that makes things more difficult (and more expensive) for buyers and sellers all acting in "good faith"? This started a few days ago, and the lure of cheap, unavailable shipping rates has not been addressed. They have also failed to advise buyers and sellers of the mess they have created for them. You buy and you sell, and THEN you are thrown into this stew of indefensible nonsense -- but only AFTER the fact. Two weeks prior I bought another guitar from an online shop in the USA. Shipping was calculated automatically and was a very reasonable price. I pressed the right buttons, the sale went through and shipping honoured. REVERB CANNOT DO THIS! But will charge extra for it anyway!!! Do as you wish, but I would suggest buying elsewhere. Without their exorbitant fees which they charge for stuffing everything up, you will probably get a better price anyway, and the service will most likely be perfect -- as I have found quite a few times. End result? Sale cancelled. No response from Reverb yet. They don't really care anyway, obviously. Reverb abondoned us. And they seem content in that decision. It's time to return the sentiment and go elsewhere. Direct-to-store/seller works for me. There is also eBay (Reverb took off from being better than eBay but now the roles have switched), craigslist, various forums (have used Facebook Marketplace a few times), Gumtree...

DO NOT HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH THIS COMPANY. I signed up to sell only. Needed to change details of item and my credit card. Impossible to do on line and despite multiple requests for them to do this they refused. All I get is emails asking me for another credit card. I intend to report them as fraudulent.

Reverb.com are like Russian communists! They suspended my account with no specific reason. I was a buyer who has spent thousands of dollars. One of my last purchases they protected the crooked seller K&B discount in Chicago IL. Sold me a dbx unit with no rack ears that was not written in the description. K&B offered to sell me the rack ears for an additional 30.00. Then told they couldn't find them after being stroked around waiting for weeks. Tyler from reverb.com was suppose to credit me 30.00 and rudely hung up on me. Never got the 30.00 credit. Reverb sends me an email say they are blocking me from phone support which they have none. The real bad news is all the gear I bought from reverb.com communists there is no way to retrieve any proof and receipts of all my purchases throughout the years. DO NOT SHOP THRU REVERB.COM. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Wait until you need to return and need a refund. They are far and the opposite of Amazon.com. I have better shopping experiences shopping thru Aliexpress in China. Reverb.com thinks they own you and your gear. Try making a local deal with a local seller to avoid the middle man, shipping fees, taxes. A seller to me they fined him like a cop issuing a speeding without trial. Hope this helps folks. Peace

Never use Reverb to sell anything. Over a month and they still haven't paid me for selling my guitar and they have no phone numbers to contact, Talk to a robot dial automaton that is in a circular cycle basically saying the ball is always in your hand that you did something wrong when you didn't and each day they ask the same questions again because you never get the same person and they always pass the buck with no recourse but to file a dispute all the while never talking to one customer representative and they will not even believe your bank saying they never received a transfer. This has been going on since January 4th after I paid my own money to ship it to the buyer and counting on reverb to pay my money after they take their huge cut. It is better to use a rip-off artist pawn shop!

Selling with Reverb has been a terrible experience. I was reluctant to sell with them after they removed Paypal as a payout option. I have had nothing but problems with trying to link my bank account to their website. After the account was finally linked, I sold two items and they claim that they were unable to pay me because there was a problem with my bank account. I fixed that a second time and they said I would receive payment in a few days. My bank account statements show that there were deposits made from Reverb to my bank account but they were then reversed. However, Reverb has not contacted me to let me know that they took the money back. I only found out because I checked my bank statement. They only communicate through chat or email so if you have any problems expect a lot of your time to go towards resolving issues. It is not worth selling on the site because you do not keep much after all fees are applied. You are better off selling locally or on a different platform. Stay away.

Reverb.com supports crooks. Bad experience k & b discount in Chicago. No rack ears were not in description, tightly cropped trickery pictures. Samuel said all he could do was slap me in the face with a 30.00 credit and didn't even get that. He rudely hung up on me denying the facts in black and white in the description. When has a tightly cropped picture become a description? And I gave this k & b discount crook place one star which Reverb.com somehow changed it to 5 stars?! They also read all private messages like peeping tom's. DON'T BUY THRU THEM. NO DIRECT PHONE NUMBER, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Buyers Beware, I purchased a used version of Ableton Live 11 Suite from the Reverb site. I ended up getting a pirated version of the software without any activation key. On top of that I believe that the software I downloaded had a virus! I will never, ever purchase anything from Reverb again! I did receive my money back because I purchased it through PayPal but Reverb did nothing to assist me in the process of getting my money back and they didn't offer any kind of apologies.

I recently sold several items on Reverb and was totally shocked and dismayed by the amount of fees and charges that are hidden and they deduct from the sale of your gear!!!!! I sold an item for over $600 and walked away with less than $500!!!! And all they reference is a 5% fee!!! Total rip-off plus takes 4-5 days to get your money! So disappointed!

Despite receiving damaged item, supplying several pictures of clear damage, and messages from seller admitting it was damaged, Reverb ignored their own policies and did not honor a return. Buyer beware when dealing with large sellers that Reverb profits greatly from.

I have a been a seller and buyer on Reverb for year with no issues ever! My companyLefTropolis Guitars has nothing but 5 star reviews on Reverb. I have been consistentlyharassed by scammers trying to setup meeting with me to purchase outside of reverb. These are attempts to set users up for theft which could potential result in bodily harm.Reverb collects millions of dollars form users but fails to protect their privacy and safetyfrom scammers. After being consistently harassed by a scammer, seeking to defraud me by setting up a in person meeting to steal my equipment that I had for sale. I respondedto the criminal using the fake account, stating his actions were stupid that i and any oneelse would defend themselves against theft. For this I was permanently banned. Reverballows fake user accounts and sellers to be harassed and then they cancel the accountsof legitimate users when they respond or complain to Reverb. This is an abuse of myrights as a user to be able to use the platform is safe and fraud free environment. However Reverb has no loyalty to its loyal customers who earned them money as long as everything stays quit and no one know the number of thefts and crimes committed across the country because of their inability to protect their users. Please see the attached files from scammers trying to get me to email them outside of the platform or meet them in public. I have faced and had to deal with on a almost daily basis. There ares several others. these are just some of them from the past 60 days. I have not violated any polices against a real Reverb User or staff. I was banned for responding to a FAKE user with a Fake account who Reverb themselves banned from the site. Reverbs communication policy applies to staff and active legitimate user accounts on Reverb. I violated no policy for legitimate or active users. i was responding to scammers who were a threat to me and my property. i have the legal right to do that.

Absolutely horrible company. Bot-based customer service, the most maddening experience I have ever had buying something online. The idiots running Reverb.com aren't going to have any customers running a site based on selling items to artistic people with no human interaction. Their business model is just as dumb as the day is long. Talk about being out of touch with your customers. If you expect to chat or email with an actual human, expect the lag time to be about a week or so. 0 stars. Zero.
