Scottish power emptied our account after breaking the contract Scottish power broke the fixed-rate 12-month contract we had, twice in the very same year! They then put us on a much dearer energy tariff, emptied our bank account, putting us in financial difficulty, all without notifying us at all. We only found out when they contacted us to notify about the price rise, but we were on a fix-rate contract! When we called them, they said we are not the only one, it happened to others too. The customer service agents are so incompetent, so unprofessional and lying continuously. They hang up the phone when they don't know what to do. The last straw was, when they closed our account, only to open another and without repaying the money they owed us, as they are incompetent to resolve the issue they caused without closing the account, again all without our knowledge. We spent 12 hours to resolve the issue to no avail. We are having a break down. They have no managers, so these incompetent, untrained, unmonitored and lying customer service agents are running wild, doing as they like, because they are not held accountable. The recorded calls are not listened even after we requested. When we called back, small world, we caught the man who promised to refund the money they scammed from our bank account, but then did not honour his promise. It is unbelievable how he spoke to us once he got confronted. He said, he may call back if he can, or may be not, and that they can change the contracts as they please, he closed the account without repaying the overcharge but he can't refund us now because he doesn't know how to. He then started talking to himself, singing, whistling, whilst we were on the line, crying out of frustration. We wasted another hour and ten minutes on the phone and he still did not resolve my problem. He promised to call us today at 11, we knew he is dishonest but we had no choice, he cheated us, again. Since I spoke to another customer service, who arrogantly questioned us as to why we do not claim the overcharges from our bank instead of bothering Scottish power. Please share your experience if you suffered the similar fate. That is, they put you in a fixed rate contract for a year, then cancel it a month after (11 months short), putting you on a strand rate which is three times more expensive and empty your account in your sleep, all without giving any notification. As they were bragging about, this happened to others, so we are not their only victims to be abuses financially emotionally and mentally. They manipulate your account, bills, live on the phone, close one account open another without your knowledge, no way to proof that you are scammed. Together, we need to appeal to their gross misconduct.

Avoid this company at all costs!! Have had an ongoing issue for 3 months, and still no further forward from when it was initially raised. Always trying to chase them up as they can't seem to call at agreed times. Rude advisors! Put bill up from £83 to £155 a month for electric on a small mid terraced house, with only two occupants, who are BOTH out of the house for 11 hours each day at work. Happy to take money, but not sort anything out when there is a problem! AVOID THIS COMPANY AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unbelievably bad service, engineer excuse for not turning up and was not informed till last minute, wasted whole day AGAIN, it seems they only ever do one appointment as never had engineer EVER turn up till end of day, can not believe they can't get here earlier, one more chance and I'll be hanging my supplier.

If you can switch away from them, do so immediately. They are not only incompetent, their practices appear quite sinister. Ofgem fined them £18 million in 2016 (see ofgem investigations page) for billing and customer service fiascos and failure to carry out ombudsman directives when ruling were in favour of the customer. These failings benefited Scottish Power financially. They erroneously connected me to my next door neighbours energy supplies and I was never able to pay for my own, despite 9 months of trying. They registered a default on my credit file for bills I could not pay. They are now blocking my complaint to the energy ombudsman. Advice, switch if yiu can, don't don't set up direct debits with them, confirm that your supply, meter, and account numbers (3 for each gas and electricity, 6 in total), all correspond with each other, communicate with them in writing so you have a record, ensure they give you complaint numbers....and if you can afford it, it might be worth just paying incorrect bills if this means you can switch to another company. Its worth saving your sanity.

Continuous harassment over an account that is not mine. The account was closed a year ago and was up to date yet they now say, nearly a year later, that I owe them £65. They even admitted at one stage that it was an error on their part. They won’t even discuss the matter unless I pass their security yet they continue to call. 15 calls in as many days. I won’t play their game by answering their security questions as doing so is tantamount to admitting you are responsible for the account. f..k off you scam Bas….s

People dealing with SP need to form a collective and get a smart solicitor to take up the case against them that might shake them a little there are hundreds of problem accounts as you can read txt me 07889296342

Nothing but stress stress stress with scottish power avoid them like the plague for 5yrs I've had Nothing but hassle and lies I've had all sorts of difficulties bills had one for £0.00 and they were sending collectors round if I didn't pay zero they are trying to say I used £3500 of gas in two months all they do is lie and say someone will call and no-one does had a complaints ope for 2yr trying to get an isolater switch apparently they couldn't find my house even though the postman finds it ok to bring their crazy bills they said I don't live in a house but Iam on the grid somewhere they also sent me an email saying I had left them for electricity I never changed to anyone and only found out today that I'm with ovo told scottish power this and they said it wasn't them ovo took it upon them to do it even though I've not had a single letter from ovo I could go on and on about them I would not recommend these bunch of robbing lying cowboys to my worst enemy even thinking about them hurts my head

Since moving to a new rented house, it has taken a year to finally move away from this god awful, thieving, lying bunch of idiots. AVOID this company like to plague. They will defraud YOU, LIE TO YOU AND GENERALLY MAKE YOUR LIFE HELL!

The staff at Scottish Power lack empathy, they read from a script that they cannot deviate from. They might as well make it a computer. I have dealt with utility companies before and they are of much of a muchness, Scottish Power have got to be the bottom of the pile. Rest assured I will never use them again. Thank you for making a widows experience so much better and not doing what you said you would do.

Put us in debt hiked bills up due to COVID and threatened bailiffs plus they can’t read smart meters. Thieving bunch of scammers

Here is my experience with Scottish Power. Please do your research before even thinking of joining 1. They consistently overcharge me 2. The customer service team relies on ignoring me for as long as possible 3. They attempt to take money from my bank account without permission when iam no longer a customer until i made my Bank class them as dangerous 4. Refund - months 5. Using the Ombudsman they attempted to delay, every single time 6. They then ignored the rulings of the Ombudsman and stalled for time by making 'errors' 7. They attempted to stop me changing suppliers by saying I was in debt until I proved otherwise I had written evidence on EVERYTHING. I never thought they would call me back which they never did I got ready for a long fight In researching Scottish Power and their workforce I was shocked and disgusted I am still waiting for them to adhere to the Ombudsman’s ruling. I have been waiting for them to settle the complaint since the beginning of February its now nearing the last week of July UPDATE: After taking Scottish Power to Civil Court and winning, they continue to ignore the issue, I will continue to take legal action

Thieving, lying scumbags who will happily falsify customer data and bills to defraud that customer of money. Paid a bill in full? Don't fret, they will send debt collectors onto you because they lost the money then fake records to show it was paid after the debt collectors were brought in and charge you nearly £30 for paying the bill in the first place - after all who needs a good credit rating when applying for a mortgage? Pure and simple evil treatment, they couldn't care less. If you need stress in your life, you need harassment, you need to be the victim of abuse, not to mention that bad credit score, then by all means sign up to Scottish Power - they love to help you out on that score! See you in court Scottish Power, I paid the bill in May how dare you record it as August just to justify keeping MY money, that's fraud aka theft!

This is the worst provider company for both gas and electricity! The "advisors" and company representatives are absolutely jokes! Pass u from pillar to post, never resolving the issues that they created! ....tell you it's been done but doesn't, has u waiting months for engineers who don't show up! Who when do show up fit u meters with debts set on them that u don't actually even owe! .... phone calls after phone calls of complaints asking for it to be taken off and sorted to be told someone will action it but never does! Same promises from every advisor. Waste of time and breathe!. They owe me money that they've been quick to falsely take but not give back! Absolute disgraceful cowboys! ...definitely don't chose this supplier

I had a very bas experience with scottish power. Our application to switch from electricity to gas meter is pending for eight weeks. The engineer did not show up in the three give appointments, each time with an unacceptable excuse, fell sick at the last minute, the address was wrongly recored... We made three complaints but in vain. I could not imagine worse

Staff on the phones are downright aggressive, rude and condescending which really doesn't tally when the company has inaccurate information from their take over of Extra Energy three years ago... Maybe investing in customer service training and administration would be a better cause for their money rather than accruing more energy companies?

The Scottish Power smart meters triggers the RCD to switch off, leaving us without electricity in the following scenarios: - every morning between 4-4:30 AM (as seen in this video; the beeping sound is from my UPS that alarm) - every time we top-up (WATCH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MBOD...) - randomly, sometimes multiple times per day in very short periods of time For some reason, Scottish Power refuses to acknowledge this fact and to replace our smart meters back. There is nothing wrong with our home network or the appliances, as this happens even if we turn off all the consumers. Besides, we have never had any issue with the old analogue meters. We've reported this to SP and begged them to take their smart meters back. Almost three months have passed now - they still didn't do anything yet. They simply do not care about about their customers, the appliances that get damaged due to this power cuts and most important the stress and health issues that this and the lack of sleep is causing us and our kids.
