“I have travelled with Senior Discovery Tours eight times and have enjoyed all my trips. I especially like being picked up at my door, and all tipping taken care of by the tour guides. It would be nice if the tour guides spoke the language of the country visited, and all hotels were more centrally located, and not as some a 20 minute walk from the closest amenities. Looking forward to my next trip when the time is right.”
“I have taken 18 tours. That speaks for itself.
Generally speaking the tours are well managed,( over managed on some stay put tours) interesting and of good value.
There is a good variety of tours at all times of year.
I was on the Majorca tour this Spring (March 3 to March 22). It was interrupted do to the covid19 issue. I submitted a claim under the Manulife STD travel policy in early May but have received no payment yet, which is puzzling because others on the same tour have had their claims paid. I am not impressed with this situation as the trip interruption claim is straightforward.”

“I think there should be a rating of very good between good
and excellent. I’ve been on 3 Seniors tours and they really suit my needs/desires. They cover all the basis. My only complaint is that they overbook some of the trips. With 42/44 travellers it makes departures and entry into exhibits time consuming and cumbersome.”
“Trip covered a good mix of scenic areas, museums,castles, gardens etc., accommodation was good except in one place. Food was very good.I was disappointed that the tour guide took information from everyone regarding dietary concerns but then did nothing about it. The restaurants were not told in advance that there were people with dietary restrictions, and twice there was nothing on the menu that I could eat. When I told the server there was nothing on the menu provided that I could eat they made adjustments but it's not fair to the restaurants, they should have received notification earlier.”

“While what we saw and what we did was fascinating there were a few draw backs.
1.Sometimes our tours strayed from the original itinerary and followed the tour guides personal interests. 2.often we were subjected to excessive foot tours up and down cobblestone streets hours on end.(this was a senior tour)3. Downtime for recovery was rare resulting in fatigue.”
“We have had 6 trips with Seniors Tours of which 4 were excellent and 2 were really poor. The trip to the Dominican Republic was dreadful and contrary to what your President claimed when I emailed him, in all the years I lived and worked in the Caribbean region (7) some 45 years ago, never have I experienced such primitive toilet facilities as in that location. And contrary to what your President also claimed I was not the only person who suffered from food poisoning - there were at least 2 others to my knowledge.
Our last trip to the Eastern Caribbean was also a disaster as you will be well aware due to the Nora virus which plagued the Princess vessel we were on- clearly not the tour group's fault, but it leaves a poor impression nevertheless.

“We have travelled with your company 15 times. Accommodations and meals are generally good, while travel arrangements leave something to be desired. Most tour managers are good; we've had two poor ones and five exceptional ones.”
“There were mistakes made, but we take into account that we were there during a very trying time...March 2-24 in Spain.
The hotel was nice, but we had construction going on and we faced the main strip where music was played so loud that it disturbed our sleep.”
“The only problem I had was the last day on my trip to Iceland. There was a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon which many of us didn’t choose to bathe in as then we were off to the airport and nobody wanted to fly home with messy hair. Other then that it was a great trip.”
“I would have selected 'very good' at the above. I was on the Railroads & Waterways of GB tour in 2019, and I had enjoyed the tour very much. I appreciate the printed booklet of the program, which included the introduction of the Tour Mgr.
I am saddened that tours you have spent so much time and effort to orchestrate have to be cancelled on account of the pandemic.

“Very good tour packages with plenty of options to a large variety of destinations.
Only complaint is recent withholding of 25% of tour costs when a tour is cancelled. A 10 to 15% fee would more appropriate.”
“Generally I have enjoyed all my trips with SDT....some were better than others, due to the local guides .
I would prefer to fly out of Montreal, whenever possible, as it is a shorter route, often there is a flight to meet the group .
I would also suggest that new tours be tried by a Canadian representative before making it available to a group. Local tour operators, and/or itineraries, may fall short of Canadian standards and cannot be known via "not on the ground" communications.
