“SDT sent a group of senior citizens into Italy in the middle of a pandemic. Three days before the tour (2 March 2020) the CDC issued a Level 4 advisory against non essential travel to Italy. SDT chose to ignore that advisory and the group suffered unnecessary stress and trauma. Some of the group had saved for several years to afford the trip. The aftermath of the trip took a toll on physical and mental health. I am not sure I want to travel with a Company that doesn't put their customer first...above everything else.”
“The Moroccan tour we went on two years ago was not good. Poor guide and the guide in Morocco was a pretty bad. Also the worst wet weather didn’t help.”
“Our first tour was to Amalfi coast and Sorento.The room at the first hotel was unacceptable and a significant number of people were not adequately mobile for this tour, spoiling it for the rest of the group.The second tour was to Tuscany Ect in October. Once again the accommodation at the second hotel in the Tuscany region was completely unacceptable (very small and no balcony)
I will never go with Senior Tours again and wouldn’t recommend to my friends if asked.”
“The travel arrangements do not allow the passenger to select their type of seating and that can be very upsetting for many travellers. I do not find the clientele to be a good match for my interests.”
“I've only been on one tour with you to Mtn tops of Italy. We spent repetitive excess time in mouldy old churches. I was out voted by our tour guide to see the one sight that was important to me, the Sistine Chapel. I will never again pay you for a tour. The best Italian food I enjoyed was food I bought for lunch myself.”
“Too much downtime in a city that is very spread. Evening meals at crazy hours and in doubtful venues. Tour leader not effective. For an extensive one hotel stay should have been offered optional room upgrades. Room very adequate for a two or three night stay but for two weeks needed more comfort. I was disappointed with the tour.”
“In March I went to Benidorm Spain, the hotel was under construction and also the roads all around the hotel, all I heard for 20days was jack hammers. The hotel said there was air conditioning, but in fact they did but would not put it on, so opening your sidling door was the only way to cool your room down. With the door open you heard constant jack hammering from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Discovery should inquire about construction before they book tours.”
“Tour guide Patrick was rude and not very helpful. Tours were rushed with little flexibility to explore personal interests. Our driver was a real gem and saved the experience.”
“We have traveled with Senior Discovery Tours twice. The first trip we had an amazing guide and although we did have some issues, it was a scenic trip. We had a lot of free time to explore on our own and did. Fortunately, the weather was good. The second trip, although it took us to many places, was not good value. It started off badly with one guest being ill and it spread through the whole group. The weather wasn't the greatest and does affect your enjoyment. Some of the places we visited were a waste of time, and what we expected to see -- we didn't. For the money, we should have had more inclusive hotels. Most accommodations were just acceptable, but some were not. Food variety and quality was poor and not on par with what we had on our first trip. The local guide wasted more time on "talking" than seeing the sites.”
“Went on the Croatia, Slovenia and Venice tour a few years back...our tour director was awful...we spent no time at the sites ...1.5 hours at Plitvice Lakes, boat tour and then 30 min at castle at Lake Bled and similar at all other locations He knew we were upset by how he conducted himself and complained to SDT....no one contacted us for any comments and banned us from future travel. that is very poor customer service!!! Hotel locations were terrible ...very far and SDT coach bus would not drop us into town unless it was part of the tour. Who wants to go on vacation to sit at the hotel??? Not us
We are at the stage in our lives that we travel but never again with SDT...too bad you banned us and kept your lousy tour director

“You must be kidding..asking me to write a review when I just receive a letter stamped by your President saying I am to seek another travel agency and my name has been removed from your mailing list. The letter was most insulting alluding to possible harassment/abuse by myself to your tour mgr on my recent trip to Costa Rica. NO such behavior on my part ever occurred. This tour mgr was unable to assist me with an AC baggage delay issue so took his frustration out on me by bad mouthing me... pathetic....I would never want to deal with a company who hires such dishonest people.”

“The excursion group was too large for one tour guide . Prefer 10-12 people per guide. Not impressed with the food & not enough free time at destinations.”

“The pre-organization was thorough, and I have no complaints. AC was a miss; but not DST fault; however, the actual Hawaii trip was below standard, I’d say. We had experiences where the tour guide skipped activities listed on her itinerary and gave us something other than DST approved. I could do better! I’d call the tour sub-standard, a lot of free time and wont be travelling with the agency again.”
