“The good thing is having all the planning done for you and all your transportation and accommodations arranged in advance. You get to see stuff that you might not have thought of by yoursef.The tour manager and guide were excellent on our trip to Costa Rica. The other side of the pre-arranged coin is that you lose the spontaneity of being able to eat where you like and when you like and to set off to explore a little bit. On our trip, the hotels were OK to so-so and ditto the food apart from a memorable steak at the welcome dinner and my introduction to rice and beans.”
“I have done 3 Senior Discovery Tours. The amazing ones were Budapest, Vienna and Prague, and India. I went with my very senior mother on both trips and we absolutely loved them. In fact; Her trip to India was her all time favorite so I am really happy we did the trip together. FANTASTIC organization.”
“One complaint, some “seniors”, I would guess in their 50s, wanted the guide to tailor his tour to their schedule, but there were plenty if us in our 80s who had no complaint as it was written in the brochure. The guide tried to keep everybody happy,but it wasn’t fair to either the guide, the driver, or those of us who were in our 80’s and quite capable of enjoying the trip as planned.”
“We have been twice on Senior Discovery Tours; Newfoundland/Labrador and Victoria. Both times we enjoyed ourselves, the places visited and the people involved. We found the longer stay at Victoria more to our liking than moving every day or two as happened in the visit to Newfoundland/Labrador. It was also convenient being able to walk to many of the interesting sites rather than take a long bus ride. The trip out east was a return to my husband's mother's birthplace and on our "bucket list". The trip to Victoria was to enjoy a warmer spot during our Canadian winter.We will likely take another Senior Discovery tour once Covid 19 restrictions are finished.”
“My first Senior Discovery Tour was marred by COVID-19.
We left home March 11 for Malta only to have everything shut down, and a scramble for flights home and a hotel to stay in till the final flights from Heathrow to Toronto caused huge amounts of stress for all travellers. Our guide suffered from the pressure and responsibility I’m sure as she became quite disorganized at times, but in the end we all made it home safe and sound.
I appreciated not having to find my own flights and accommodations, and consider this vacation unforgettable! I would love to return to Malta, to the same hotel with the same view...it was spectacular!
All in all the trip was well organized; I would try again if we ever get to travel!”
“I enjoyed my trip to Australia and New Zealand. It was well organized and included most of what I would have included, if I had planned the trip myself. Our escort was knowledgeable and approachable. I travelled solo and was pleased with accommodations provided. The group size was good, not too many or too little. Having everything planned, allowed me to relax and enjoy. Free time to explore was just right. It was a trip that I will always remember.
I was disappointed to hear about the difficulties experienced by potential travellers regarding refunds and/or credit when given notes by doctor advising that trip would not be safe, during beginning of virus. It appears that upon reflection, your company made the correct changes regarding this.
I had hoped to go on the fall Scotland, Ireland trip this year, but put those plans on hold because of existing circumstances. I plan on travelling with Seniors Discovery again, once all of the complications of the covid pandemic are settled and it is deemed safe to travel again.”
“We have been on 6 trips with SDT and we have enjoyed most of them. Our last trip was to Portugal in March and with the impending Covic 19 virus impending the trip should have been cancelled. Our experience in Portugal was very stressful to say the least and not enjoyable. Our Tour Manager lacked experience and that didn’t help. We would have expected a more pro active approach in cancelling our trip and not putting us in a very difficult situation.”

We always enjoyed our SDT trips, with everything included, and particularly to the West Coast in February. We did several trips more than once, just because getting overseas travel insurance became prohibitively expensive because of Frances’ pre-existing conditions. Our final trip together was on the Norwegian coastal boat, when she had a heart attack on board, and spent 19 days in hospital in Tromso. and was escorted home first-class to our home in Guelph, accompanied by a nurse from England. She lived for another 11years after that, but we never went overseas, again.”

Bus was not 1st class.
No washrooms, no fold down lap trays, seatback storage for magazines etc or drink holders.The speakers kept falling into overhead storage compartments.Limiting travellers to one complimentary bottle of water per person per day was unnecessarily cheap.”
