Following an on going problem, where I purchased a air compressor from sgs, the compressor is 2 months old with 2 1/2 hours use and the head gasket and the rubber cylinder head seal blew due to the compressor not being assembled properly, they told me they didnt have the rubber seal but would send a new gasket out. A week later I recieved the gasket only to find that once I opened the envelope they sent me a USED gasket that they had taken of another compressor, FIRSTLY I should never have to be replacing gaskets at this stage of the compressors light usage, SECONDLY what kind of so called professional company sends a USED gasket to a customer with a compressor which has a 2 YEAR WARRANTY. when I rang it was the usual excuses, and he said to me " WEVE TRIED TO HELP YOU ALL WE CAN BY SENDING A FREE GASKET OUT" lol. Considering theres a 2 year warranty it should be FREE, but they sent me a used gasket and they cant seem to see the problem with that. Anyone who knows about any type of engines knows that you dont put USED gaskets on a cylinder head. AGAIN they said that they dont have any in stock which would explain the used one, but how can they produce air compressors without head gaskets lol, so that's clearly a lie. I've now been told I will have a NEW gasket maybee by Friday but cant promise anything. YET MORE TIME THAT I CANT WORK. a real professional company would have offered to take the compressor back and send a new one considering it's still under warranty. Full of excuses yet again. I'm now going to contact trading standards with my concerns, and looks like I'm going to have to buy equipment with a company that's actually competent.

Had multiple issues regarding a 72" tool box purchased from SGS Engineering. The box arrived damaged and was missing parts, which they asked for evidence and was provided immediately. They agreed to collect it (large heavy item for pallet collection) and refund the full amount back however on 3 occasions they have supposedly booked the toolbox for collection but no one turns up. Waiting around from 8am to 6pm to be told its the delivery company fault however speaking to the deliver company they have zero instructions from SGS for the collection. Once fair enough but 3 times is not a mistake, very clear they do not intend on collecting the toolbox in order to refund the money back. £550 down with a large tool in my garage taking up space and unable to purchase another tool box else where until I get my refund. Now I am going through trading standards and possibly small court claim for this completely dishonest company. Reviews are good when everything goes straight forward but look at how they deal with their customers when issues crop up. WORSE company I have dealt with in years

Horrible customer service. They 60 days returns policiy is not true. Purchased Mulwaukee drill from them witch was faulty upon opening. They told me because I had it for more than 6 days they cannot help me. They cannot accept it back because it was openned. But they sent the drill in a bag with no box. This was the last time buying from them.

I purchased the SGS 2 tonne low profile trolley jack direct from SGS and was really disappointed with its performance from the first time I used it. The design itself is acceptable for a budget trolley jack but it will just not hold any weight without immediately starting to drop. I own a Saab Convertible, so a medium size car, and although it will lift the corner of the car at the jack lifting point, it will not hold the weight long enough to even change a wheel without repeatedly pumping the handle. I accept that a trolley jack is not designed to hold the weight of a car long term, but never, having used dozens of trolley jack over the years have I experienced such a poor performing jack. On discovering the jack was next to useless, I immediately contacted SGS customer services department who were courteous but after numerous phone calls and emails basically said in their opinion the performance was acceptable, and therefore wouldn’t exchange or refund my purchase. Initially they advised me that the jack probably had an air lock and that I should bleed it. This duly did several times but no change. Then I was informed that it would be worth topping up the oil level, and to go to Halfords to purchase their jack oil, which I did at my expense, which still didn’t resolve the issue. Finally I was informed that the Jack was for lifting purposes only and referred me to Point 4 on the Jacks operating instructions that states ‘This is a lifting device only. The load must be supported immediately by other appropriate means’. In other words, the fact that the jack was lifting the car, it was performing as designed, and that If I was using it to change a wheel the car would need to be supported! The jack was never used in anger as it wasn’t safe in my opinion, and having decided that further communication with SGS was a waste of time, the jack eventually ended up in the scrap metal skip at the local tip. Hopefully it will be recycled and made into something useful! I certainly won’t be purchasing anything else from SGS. I tried to leave feedback on their website but they chose not to publish it – surprise, surprise. I also tried to leave feedback on the Trustpilot, website but SGS complained, stating that my purchase and my communication with them was not in the last 12 months so was not relevant. Yes my purchase was more than 12 months prior to the review , but as the product was still being sold, I would of thought the review was relevant but alas Trustpilot decided to uphold the complaint and not publish my review. Bottom line, if you decide to purchase anything from SGS Engineering and you have problems, don’t expect their customers service department to help or provide any sort of worthwhile assistance. I wish SGS would spend as much time and effort looking after their customers as they do trying to block negative but honest feedback!

Ordered & received a 2 tonne low profile trolley jack, the item comes with a 2 year warranty but the Jack has already failed. Customer services very unhelpful & the Jack is not fit for purpose, very poor quality item & very disappointed with the entire process of trying to return it after several phone calls to the customer services department. I expected a high quality tool but instead received a very poorly made item, company removes negative reviews of products from their website & only leaves the positive reviews. I’m not the only customer with the same issue after searching for reviews of the company & item on trust pilot. Avoid at all costs.
