Rating: Thailand-Very good; Cambodia-Good Overall this was an enjoyable experience and we will be happy to use smarTours in the future. There were a few shortcomings: 1. Almost all sight seeing activity, lunch, dinners were packaged as "optional". Major activities and more dinners should be included in the standard tour package. 2. We wasted a whole day flying from Chiang Mai (Thailand) to Siem Reap (Cambodia) which is a 1-hr direct flight. This needs to be fixed. 3. The bus in Siem Reap was uncomfortable and poor quality. Tour guide was difficult to understand. Our next trip is to eastern Europe and we will certainly consider smarTours as one of the options.

I was amazed by the tour. We literally saw all of South Africa. Our tour guide, Ron, was very knowledgeable about his country and was well organized the entire tour.

Amazing Thailand excellent value. Ketsara was a guide who was both knowledgable covered everything, brought the country and culture alive with her passion and also a mother to the entire group. Smartours( this is our 7th Tour) has always shined in value and human experience. best you can get in a new unknown country --Jovita and Seeth

There should never be 21 people traveling together in a group of 39. It was a constant battle for seats on the bus, places in line, and tables on stops. You should have given them their own tour because they felt and acted like they were the only ones who mattered. While the guide was beyond fabulous in his knowledge base, he was not a mediator for 21 pushy, ill mannered individuals. It soured many a moment as verbal confrontations broke out more than once.

Very good tour that truly gave us a real taste of China. Our tour director, Oscar, was excellent. The handling of the luggage was exceptional

Tour to Iceland was excellent. Our tour guide, Gulla, was excellent. My only complaint is the plane ride out. Icelandic Air was not comfortable AT ALL. Being placed in group seating, I had a middle seat both legs. Very uncomfortable and very unhappy.

The only reason I am giving a 4 star review is the day we left Chian Mai to go to Siem Riep took all day. Arrived in Cambodia around 8 PM. I think the flights should have been earlier so that we could arrive in early afternoon and not waste a whole day waiting for our flight from Chian Mai. You could have earlier flights scheduled.

Had a great time overall but was frustrated by the lack of communication by the company on a daily basis and when directly asked for details ahead of time. Our guide was great and knowledgeable, the rooms were nice but the beds were hard and the food on the cruise made us sick. I had a great time, but the timing and organizing of activities could've been better along with a clear and detailed itinerary from the get go. I felt safe though and i loved it.

I've been on many tours with othe companies and was generally pleased with Smartours. However, there were things that could have gone better. Other tour companies were treated as groups at the airports which significantly reduced waiting time . You did not do this. We also had a huge group from one family which overwhelmed our group and our tour guide. We should have known about this when booking because it was a very stressful situation. Also the room for the last night was third class. The experience at the Dead Sea was deplorable. My friend and I did not get to enjoy this because the dressing room and showers were so disgusting that we would not use them. People waited for over 30 minutes for a towel and then a group pulled them out of the wagon!

Cruise. Arrived late to second port of the day, putting us in Mykonos and Santorininat dark! Why couldn’t itinerary get us to those islands in the morning and hit the lesser islands later in day so we could decide whether to go in yet another tour or relax on board. Food choices were poor. Granville was great. Yani was full of information. I had a hard time understanding him, even though he was careful to speak slowly. Like the cruise, land portion crammed in too much. I feel I choose the wrong tour.

Places we visited were excellent. Hotels were good. Guide was knowledgeable. However problems arose since there was no requirement to change seats on bus. It created a lot of friction between tour participants that wasn't necessary. Tour guide only requested it but it didn't happen. We had a large group of related people or friends, over 20 and they would not change seats. Tour manager did little about it. Suggest Smartours does what Gate1 does which is have a list everyday where bus seating is rotated and you eliminate this problem. A little more work for tour manager but a lot more pleasant for tour participants. Also lunch stop restaurants were not very good. Also way too much time allocated to shopping during the bus rides, which was a waste of time. We didn't travel thousands of miles to go to prearranged shopping. There was a lot of free time which was available to do shopping so during tour portion was not appropriate. Our rating is really between Acceptable and Good. We have used Smartours in the past a few times and our now wondering whether we shall use it in the future due to this experience.

Horrible job with respect to assisting with flight seat options both going to and coming back from Israel Horrible job with handling bus seating arrangements and controlling the large group of people from India who were extremely rude and inconsiderate of fellow travelers on the bus.

Considering we were in Cuba, I think we went to the best of what was available. A few suggestions; The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Miami by the airport is really starting to look run down--not a great way to start a trip. I would suggest finding a new hotel. On our second day in Cuba, I lost my wallet and had to track down my tour leader late at night--I think we should all have the room numbers of our tour leaders as we arrive in each hotel so finding them is not another burden when you need them. We had salsa lessons scheduled for our stay in Holguin (actually at the all-inclusive resort) but the instructor never showed up and the leader said this was the second time that happened--time for a new salsa instructor. The tour guide in Cuba, Adriana, was exceptional--obviously, I have no way to compare her to your other leaders in Cuba, but we have been on a few of your trips and on others and she was at the very top of the list in terms of tour guides--her knowledge and personality were a perfect combination--don't let her go!

Trip was too hectic. It would have been better to see less but stay in one place more. Ship was old and not prepared to house and feed so many people.
