Avoid at all costs. They cut your energy supply, put you in debt then take over an hour each time to answer. 3 months on issue still unresolved. I am currently on the phone waiting for them to pick up as no gas since morning it is now evening where they said it will be on.

Don't join an incompetent and ignorant supplier Becoming an SSE customer in January I saw this as a good thing. With price hikes I decided to switch, this should be seamless but I have experienced quite the opposite. The gas first, I received a closing balance of £1500 after just two months usage. After lengthy queries it was resolves and SSE admitted their mistake. Now the electric. They have tried to charge me £2000 because they can't enter meter readings correctly. Threats of affecting my credit rating and repeat hastle from texts and email to pay. I have submitted three queries of complaint, none have been responded to. I have called three times, waiting almost an hour each time at cost to me, and the customer service has been disgusting. Promised a call back after call two at 1500 that day, it was not forthcoming. Again after another call I was informed the account would be put on hold and a bill adjust carried out. Two weeks on and still nothing, other than the repeated threats again email and texts. Please don't use this company, if everyone switched to a cheaper and better customer service company then SSE have no business in the UK and therefore they can't continue to provide poor service. The thing is not enough will do the right thing and show these large suppliers that enough is enough. I only wish they would.

Please DO NOT go with SSE electric company if you want to save yourself from debts... Sse added someone else's bill into my bill. They don't provide any detailed explanation of any bills. They are dodgy and rip off company. Im a single mum and always most of the time away from the house , to my family place so there wasn't even much use of electric in the house, still They charge me £4000 When I was away from home...

would love to give SSE no star as they are a total nightmare, i've never had so much trouble with an energy company, for over a year i waited for them to change my meter from a pay as you go to a smart meter and now they want me to pay a bill for over £100 on a meter that was a pay and go, I've spent hours on hold over the last year and it costs a fortune being kept on hold for hours and then when you do get through they just transfer you to some other line and your back on hold for another hour or so, when you do get to talk to someone you cant understand a word they are saying as they don't speak good English, going to look into switching to someone else as SSE are totally incompetent

After approximately 11hours in total I finally got my account made, after having no electricity at all. Absolutely atrocious service. Been hung up on multiple times. Been told my account has been “sorted” also multiple times. The incompetence of this company is astounding. Not to mention after the account is “sorted” my money has been taken and no service has been provided. I suggest staying clear and looking elsewhere.

So having been with sse a while now they recently updated the smart meters, knowing I was going away I had plenty of credit to cover until I got home. So yesterday I received a letter saying I owed them 22 pounds. Luckily I'm not an idiot and checked it against my bank statement. So after an hour on the phone to get through and speak to someone it was removed. Just a heads up for anyone else who might have received the same letter.

I have been waiting on the phone for over an hour to talk to someone about their over estimated bill compared to an actual meter reading that was given to them, and still no response. I will be looking at moving to another supplier.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Never managed to get through them. Waiting for over 40mins to get connected over the phone with someone. Avoid at all cost.

disgusting, they have harassed me for a year over a disgustingly high estimated bill. not once did they ask me for a meter reading. i assumed they at least had to take one once a year. from March 2020 to January 2021 they had estimated a bill (for a 2 bed flat) worth over 2 grand!! bearing in mind, we had never missed a payment. This is all during a global pandemic! they have debt collectors involved, a credit default. We left SSE in janurary and we went with a different company that uses a smart meter, our bill from January 2021 to September 2021, for the new supplier, is only £78 . How could SSE explain that an estimated bill be so high? how was I not notified of this £2000 bill until September 2020? why was I never helped during the multiple phone calls to SSE? A 2 bed flat should NOT be getting billed £2000. SSE gave no consideration to that fact, and contained to harass. This company just wants your money, it is an evil Institute that should be taken down.

On the phone on behalf of my elderly mum for over an hour waiting to speak to someone in smart meter department using premium rate number. Finally hung up. Absolutely ridiculous service.

They simply will not answer the phone, no way of contacting them, my only option is to stop my DD in the hope of getting their attention.

Absolutely awful company. I knew nothing about gas and electric bills, so I when I signed up and was told I’d have to pay £50 (roughly) every month (which I paid without fail) I was very happy to sign up to SSE. When I moved out I was suddenly told with no warning that I owed £700. I called up SSE straight away and was told on the phone by a member off staff that it was a mistake and that I owed absolutely NO money. But the letters and emails kept coming, threatening debt collectors. I’m 22 years old and work 7 days a week, I work so hard but still don’t have an extra £700 floating about. I continued to email and call back, but with no luck. I paid the bill yesterday because I was so worried about the repercussions (debt collectors, ruined credit score) but now I don’t even have enough money for my rent and I STILL haven’t heard back from SSE about all this. So incredibly upset and disappointed. Would give 0 stars if I could, I do not recommend.

I'm very disappointed with a provider. Customer service is horrible-they can hang up if don't know how or don't want to deal with an issue. Reception is bad- it can cut of after staying on the line for hours. Automatic voice says they work till 8pm, but line cuts of at 6, because they don't work. System always breaks I can't sort the issue with my meter for few days now, already spent about 6 hrs on the phone, they still taking money from my credit, but I have no hot water! Waste of time and money

Absolutely rubbish, sse have been over charging us for two years now and we’ve just had a smart meter installed the gas has been charging us at £48 an hour and sse didn’t advise us of this and never said on paperwork, also to try contact them takes 25/30mins waiting time absolute rubbish company

They sent me a final bill for gas which wasn't connected with my online account. I called them again and again. I sent messages and they didn't respond. I called a number for payment and they immediately responded. I paid my electricity and I wanted to ask why my account doesn't appear and why I am charged this amount. The customer service was useless, she just repeated the same things and she told me she didn't know to answer. I yold her ask your manager. I have to pay but I cannot gave answers. They sent me for £34 mails, email and text but nobody answered my messages. Hungry for money, horrible company.

For the past two weeks I have been awfully treated by SSE trying to resolve my electricity has been truly a nightmare! I have tried to resolve the issue of me not being able to top up my electricity for the past two weeks as I have literally moved in to my new home on many occasions I have been on calls for hours going round in circles getting directed to different people without resolving the problem and hanging up on my calls after waiting for an hour to respond. With evedence on my phone from live chats telling me not to do anything about my electricity and wait. It is shocking that it had to come for electricity to be fully cut off for SSE to do something about it! I have a 8 month old baby which you were putting at risk as I couldn’t feed his bottle as there was no electricity to boil kettle with. I will be taking this further as this is very poor neglect of a customer service!

Literally the worst customer service I've ever encountered. Wait times are insane. The people are beyond clueleess. I'd go with absolutely any other provider if I could, trouble is they have the monopoly in my area.

Awful Service. Needed to contact them due to a bill dispute and I was passed around between teams for over an hour with everyone claiming that it was someone else's responsibility. They have attempted to amend my final bill, 6 months after providing me with my final bill, to claim that I owe them over £200 despite there being no difference between the meter reading on the old bill and the new one. An absolute joke to receive this 6 months after settling my account with them and leaving the old property.

SSE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. The complaints department do not even answer any complaints. Every time you phone them you get given a different answer. The advisor today told me that the previous 3 advisor had lied to me and have given false information, he admitted it, but said there was nothing he can do. I have been waiting 4 weeks for a refund, and today I was told that it has not even been processed yet !!!!!! The other 3 advisor previously had told me it had. I cannot even begin to tell you how bad the customer service is. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone with them trying to sort this situation but I have got absolutely nowhere. If you read any reviews about this company you will see how bad they are.

Bad company but even English i owe them 370 in title paid it now I owe them 256.34 for gas when I don't they make up bills and the are the worst company out there don't use the rip you of in seconds should be shut down I have no gas I can't top up as I don't have a key or code, bad company please stay away at all cost
