I rented a car from Surprice in Portugal and when I went to pick up the car they told me that I was the first person to drive it, that the car would be new, but the car was dirty and when the guy handed me the car, he told me not to worry because the car was new, in fact it was out of fuel and that I should wait a little, he would have to fill it up and he would be right back, well, I waited about 30 minutes for him to come back and when he came back he said he had already filled it up and handed me the car, I couldn't understand if it was full or not, because the car was new and I didn't understand if it had fuel, but I believed that given the time he took he would have given me the car with a full tank, but unfortunately I discovered that he didn't put any fuel in it, when I started my trip to another city the information appeared that the car needed to be filled up. So I went back to Suprice to find out why the car hadn’t been filled up and I was made to feel unwelcome by the attendants at the door who told me they had only put a little bit of fuel in so I could go to a gas station, but that wasn’t what they told me when they said they were going to fill it up. Anyway, I took a picture of the dashboard to show how much fuel I had and went to a gas station to fill it up.
When I went to return the car, the attendant named Eduarda Furtado did a full inspection that hadn’t been done before when I picked up the car or when the guy came back from filling up, trying to find something. She said the hubcap had a small, light scratch that would cost me 238 euros to fix and that I could contact the broker and they would reimburse me the amount. I felt cheated, outraged, embarrassed and deceived, as if they had made me look like an idiot, because I couldn’t believe what was happening, a pitiful and ridiculous scene. The attendant Eduarda pressured me to pay the amount, saying that she was just an employee. I didn't sign it right away because I didn't owe anything, but the next day they charged me the amount on my credit card without my authorization, in the amount of 238 euros and without warning me. I returned to the agency on 09/28/24 in person and another attendant gave me several documents to contact the broker to refund the amount that was charged. I felt deceived throughout this entire process and I advise everyone not to rent a car from this company because they are unprofessional and have bad character.”

Rented a car online via a comparison site for our holiday to Malta. Paid for extra insurance as well.
Upon arrival to pick up our car They ended up charging us an extra £200 because we didn’t have a credit card! and they charged us an for extra insurance as they said the one we took out online when we purchased the car hire wasn’t valid and we couldn’t have the car without it.
My partner ended up just paying as we needed to get our young daughter to our accommodation.
Upon returning the car, there were two very small ‘dots’ no bigger than a couple of mm on the paint work. They charged us the excess of €450 plus €50 admin fee for the ‘damage’. This was not going to cost more than €450 to fix (nor would they probably bother getting it fixed). Apparently none of the insurances we had covered any wear and tear, even though we had an extra policy they made us take out.
They are absolute crooks. Do not rent from this company.
Other reputable companies came out as more initially on the comparison site and we wish we had just gone with them as our car hire went from £60 to over £600 by the time we had finished with them. It’s disgusting. They are also not part of the ECRCS which ensures hire companies are kept to a high and fair standard. Says a lot. Stay away.”

Firstly, the pick up area at Pisa airport is not signposted or clear, we wandered around aimlessly for an hour. We were collected by a lovely lady to helped us with our baggage and drove us to collect our car... this is where our nightmare began.
Forget up-selling us bodywork insurance, this company used scare mongering tactics into buying this expensive insurance. Whilst stood at the desk and looking at the shocking reviews of this company, the girl with the brown hair behind the desk rudely interrupted us demanding to know if we were going to write a bad review...well that was obvious!
Half way through our trip, a mechanic pointed out that 3 of the tyres were completely bald and illegal. When we returned the car were were told immediately that we have to go and wash the car otherwise we would be charged in excess of 100 euros upon inspection of the car, but we had purchased their scam insurance, so why would they need to inspect the damage.
In addition, we were not told that we would have to clean it and they said to us that it was obvious When we pointed out that the tyres were bald, they said they knew and were aware of it!
Anyway, 20 euros later, we returned the to the 2 jumped up, admin girls. We returned the car absolutely gleaming, which was not the condition in which we received it. I travel to Pisa multiple times in the year, and I will never hire from this bunch of cowboys again. Don't bother asking for names either, they will give you a false one.
There was also another guy dropping off at the same time as sand they were trying to scam him too, unfortunately for him, he had to leave to catch his flight.
There are a few companies in the same hut, Surprice, AutOne, ParkinGo, Rentsmart24 and it wouldn't surprise me if they all operate this shady way.
There was a hosepipe in the carpark but when I asked if I could use it I was told it was against the law......😆

“Do not, DO NOT DO NOT rental from them. They rob you blind. They made take extra travel insurance because I did not have original credit card, but it could have been. Paid. They accepted the deposit 500 euro on my wise card. They charged me 232 euros to take full insurance. Even though I had already taken full insurance. So my all my car rental which should have cost me $325 cost me $1000!!! Because they would not rent me without taking extra insurance. And because yij have to sign a document stating you taken it. You cannot claim that they forced you - they make out it is voluntary. Would you pay extra 230 euro for more insurance when you already have paid for full cover!

“Pisa, advertised on EasyCar as 'in terminal'...they arent. Shuttle bus never arrived after over an hr of waiting, I walked there and had them come to the airport to collect my wife/daughter and luggage. Whole process of getting the car took over three hours. Staff rude, lazy, aggressive upsell insurance, lots of folks arguing over insurance etc.
The car itself was actually good and no issues when returning the car - decided not to join the large queue of people waiting for the shuttle and walked the 15 mins back.

“Looked for reasonable car hire from Heathrow for a couple of days and this company came up as a good option. Listed as pick up from the airport (via regular shuttle bus) and good price. But you get what you pay for. The shuttle bus had to be called and it still took an hour to arrive which is not what you want after a long flight. Then the car had absolutely no fuel so had to limp to the nearest petrol station with alarms going off!! And rather than wait for ages for the free shuttle bus, we opted to pay extra for one to leave when we were ready. All in all, a really poor experience and one that I’ll make sure I’ll never have to go through again as I will not be using Surprice again!”

They charge more money than what was agreed... they made up damages… and we even got fines for driving incidents that belonged to another customer!!!

We turned up late as our flight was late and then in Bologna it was difficult to find the shuttle to the car rental area and even when we did find it we had to wait 25mins instead of the 10 mins to be transferred to their location - we called them to let them know this.
When we got to the desk the Audi that we rented was given away and we were put down as a “no-show” so they tried to charge me an extra 380 euros to rebook a car. Whilst this was happening we watched them rudely argue with another customer who was returning their car and then watched them scam another couple out of a few hundred euros and a car that they paid extra to rent.
After that we decided to cut our losses and lose the 150 euros that we spent and find another rental agency.
They were kind enough to ask to shake my hand and drive us back to the airport though.

If I could give 0 starts I would. Pickup was in London Heathrow. Instructions said pickup would be in T2 and to call when we had baggage. I called and was told that they had no drivers in T2 and we should go to T4. Heathrow is not a small airport. We walked to the train, waited 12 minutes, called when we got to T4 and were told where to go. We then waited for 15 minutes for the driver. There was one other passenger in the car with us who was surprised that the rental property was so far from the airport. The driver told us to be prepared for bad service. He said he had quit and it was his last day working for Surprice. When we got to the desk we had to fill out the most detailed paperwork ever and we've rented many cars over the years. We asked the agent why he needed all of this info and he said it was the law. Then he wanted to know my husband's profession. To rent a car, why does it matter?? When my husband spoke up the agent said he was being disrespectful and if he didn't stop he would cancel our car. WTH?? I asked if when we returned the car we'd have to wait as long for a driver as we did when we landed in LHR. Short answer was no, if we wanted to pay an extra 12GBP to get us back quicker and to our departure terminal. We did, so as not to miss our flight. I would never ever use this company again. Worst car service we've ever come across. Oh and the other passenger in our car cancelled his car at the rental office and took an Uber to where he was going and said he'd sort out a rental with another company.”

“Surprice Car Rental in Pisa is an absolute disgrace. When I arrived to collect my pre-booked car, the staff refused to give me the vehicle unless I paid €719 for their overpriced excess insurance. Despite my separate existing excess protection insurance, and a prior agreement that I would only need to put down a €1200 deposit. They blatantly pressured me into purchasing insurance I didn’t need, holding my rental car hostage until I complied. I either had to throw away a £400 pre-booked rental car, or pay for this excess insurance I did not need. They made up excuses to do with my age that are not in the terms and conditions.
The staff were appalling—rude, evasive, and outright deceitful. They refused to give their names, denied me any access to a supervisor, and refused to provide a written explanation for this extortion. Their underhanded tactics were designed to intimidate and squeeze as much money as possible from customers, with zero accountability or professionalism.
I have reported this incident to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) and will be pursuing legal action in court. Surprice’s predatory practices and shameless disregard for agreements make them a company that should be avoided at all costs.”

“First things first, Surprice also operates through another name in the market: Auto One.
When we rented the car we were not told we would have to pick it up outside the airport ( Fiumicino, Italy) - it took us 45 minutes to take a Van that would drop us at the pick up point which in turn was 20 minutes away from the airport. We had rented a premium model and the car was not available. We were given, instead, another model, cheaper compared to the rented one.
Another surprise was related to car insurance. We were told we would have to pay EUR 300 for additional insurance on the car, on top of the insurance we had already purchased at the car rental website (www.doyouspain.com).
When returning the car, another hassle: we had to take a Van from another company to go to the airport. When we said we were AutoOne’s customers, there was a clear discomfort among the employees of this company who told us they were not supposed to drop us off at the airport as they had no business relationship whatsoever with AutoOne! Thanks to my wife’s insistence, we were given a ride back.
Bottom line: simply avoid this company, these are not serious people. Go to one of the well-known players.”
