“Dont trust this company one bit.
I dropped my car off with no damage and the right amount of petrol, which they confirmed. 7 days later i got a £700 charge through on my card, i am still disputing the charge and they are just sending me round random office and not getting back to me.
Avoid at all costs.”
“Avoid at all cost. Clear Bait and Switch.
After being shuttled away from the airport was told cannot rent the car without the extra 30-dollar a day insurance when their rental agreement did not state that was needed for Insurance’s with liability $300,000 dollars worth or more(which I had). Also had very high daily rate to hold Sun-pass/transponder. $130 rental became at $450 rental with these added fees.”
“Avoid this company at all costs. When we arrived, they tried to scam us by saying we needed an international driver’s license—even though we’ve rented cars all over the world without one and it's not a legal requirement in this country. Because we didn’t have one, they tried to charge us twice the original rental price. Total bait-and-switch.
To make things worse, the person who was supposed to pick us up from the airport was extremely rude, unhelpful, and nearly impossible to find. We spent a ridiculous amount of time wandering around trying to locate them, only to be met with attitude and zero customer service.
This company is shady, unprofessional, and clearly preys on travelers. Save yourself the headache and go with a reputable rental agency.”
“No había la posibilidad de contratar un seguro a todo riesgo, así que nos cobraron 100€ de depósito que nunca nos devolvieron.
Ellos mismos (tienen los coches localizados) se encargaron de robarnos un espejito del retrovisor (quién va a robar una pieza que cuesta 5 o 6€) y por eso se quedaron ese depósito.
Una estafa en toda regla.”
“Another case of failure to return the deposit. Paid a deposit of £1500. Returned the car on time no issues with the car and signed off as returned in good condition, right amount of fuel etc. Told refund of deposit would be made in 14 days as they needed to check there had been no tickets issued against the car while on hire. FYI they don’t need to hold the deposit because if there was a ticket they could give the driver’s details to the authorities and forward the ticket on. 21 days pass and no refund. Tried calling them multiple times but company refused to answer and cut me off. Eventually got through. Company accepted refund was due but that it takes 14 working days. When pointed out that wasn’t what they originally said and that in any case 14 business days had already passed they then claimed their admin staff had been on holiday and this had delayed payments by a week. Clearly a lie. Although the company trades as Surprice Car Rentals the deposits are paid to a different company. Looks like a scam set up. Have reported it to my credit card company.”

“We were 1 minute late to call them to pick us up at the airport. Our car was already rented to someone else… they proposed a smaller car for a higher price… everyone who returned their rented car had to pay something extra… for ‘damage’ or something else… stay away from this company…”
“I rented a car with Surprice Italy ( Naples ) road Expedia website. I paid partly the rents . I arrived late at their specific address on the date , they advised me that the car I rented is gone and forced me to rent a luxury car with a handsome upgrades rents instead. I left with nomothwr choices but to accept it as they left with the only car. Then they advised Expedia that I never show up and forfeited my deposit paid earlier. Stay Away from this Dishonest Car Rental company !”
“No deposit refunded within the 25 business days they claim it could take. We have sent several emails to ask about the 600€ deposit, but all we get is BS answers saying that money are released, so it is a problem with our bank. We have, of course, contacted the bank and confirmed that there is no issue. As a prrof of release, surpricecar sent us a document issued by someone called Auto ONE with a not existing phone number.
Stay away from them”
“Do not use. We waited 4 hours for a shuttle to their off-site building which wax a 65e cab ride. They refused to take the Chase Saphire insurance (who we booked through) and wanted another 1309e for 3 weeks for insurance on top of what we paid. We finally went back to airport and rented through Hertz which was great.”
“Rent through Ryan air for 10 days in Corfou.
Nobody was waiting for us at the airport exit.
Peugeot 301 instead of 308, without same comfort, but has done the job.
Car trunk was finally blocked and impossible to open.
Employees are kind.”
“I want to rate this rental car negative 10(-10)
The name fits it surprise rental car. My friend book the rental car for our travel in Milan Italy. We arrive in October 10 at 8pm and pick up time shld be 830pm. The shuttle came around 10pm. This is just a start. When we pick up the car the guy ask my friend if he has an international driving license Hea been Travelling to Europe and our last travel was in Istanbul n Greece and we didn’t have any problem picking up the rental car from other provider(oak mobility and other) they never ask an international driving license. He ask as to pay 300 euro for the international driving license then he lowered it to 230plus euro. In that time we choose not to take the car n went back to malpensa airport n sleep there. The ff day we have no choice n we went back to surprise car rental. Aside form the international driving license amounting to 212 euro there’s also an additional reopening of the reservation car of 87 dollars total of $327.92 ITS REALLY A SURPRISE RENTAL CAR. Our vacation was delayed because of these and it ruined our vacation
Stay away from this rental car if u don’t want to get any problem n will ruin your vacation. This is the WORST RENTAL CAR we ever rented from year 2020 to 2024 with all the travels me and my friend went to. Anybody here who have the same experience so we can file a complaint on them.”
“Worst experience of my life. Don’t book with these people. Very unprofessional, inconsiderate staff , rude , unhelpful you name it. Stay away from them.”
“Surprice Car Rental in Pisa is an absolute disgrace. When I arrived to collect my pre-booked car, the staff refused to give me the vehicle unless I paid €719 for their overpriced excess insurance. Despite my separate existing excess protection insurance, and a prior agreement that I would only need to put down a €1200 deposit. They blatantly pressured me into purchasing insurance I didn’t need, holding my rental car hostage until I complied. I either had to throw away a £400 pre-booked rental car, or pay for this excess insurance I did not need. They made up excuses to do with my age that are not in the terms and conditions.
The staff were appalling—rude, evasive, and outright deceitful. They refused to give their names, denied me any access to a supervisor, and refused to provide a written explanation for this extortion. Their underhanded tactics were designed to intimidate and squeeze as much money as possible from customers, with zero accountability or professionalism.
I have reported this incident to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) and will be pursuing legal action in court. Surprice’s predatory practices and shameless disregard for agreements make them a company that should be avoided at all costs.”
“Con artists, had us waiting 2 hours in a queue only to tell us the booking had been expired and we had to book again for an extra 400 pounds. Car hire was only for 4 days. It’s honestly worth paying a bit extra and staying away from these slimey firms who only want to rip you off. They use the booking through third parties as a way to force full insurance packages.”
“Absolutely disappointed & disgusted with the company. All the staff at the rental desk were very rude and bully to take out extra covers.. The shuttle never arrived, so we had to take a taxi to get to the rental desk. Lots of arguments and bullying and the whole rental experience was very stressful!! Never ever use this company. If there was an option, I would have given Minus Review.
OMG”

This business needs shutting down”
“I reserved a car in company "Surprice rent car" with automatic transmission for Lisbon trip in February (for June 1). I payed a deposit - 177 EUR. By the time I arrived (the flight was delayed) the car was gone. They could only offer a manual transmission car as a replacement, which I didn't feel safe to drive. I ended up renting a car at a different company and requested a refund of the deposit. The Guys (Customer Service) refused to refund me. Looks like it is their business style - to get money and provide no service.”
