“After trekking with the kids and luggage in Sardinia's Olbia heat for 20 minutes from the terminal to supposed office location, waiting in front of a seemingly abandoned office for another 20 minutes and then retracing our steps back to the terminal where the office was, we had to wait over an hour for the lady at the desk to deal with one customer.
Then the lady refused our visa credit card, supposedly because it was not attached to a physical bank. They charged us an extra 400 Euros for insurance, despite us having already purchased an insurance independently. It was stressful, and faced with the possibility of not having a car for our holiday given it was too short notice to find an alternative, we were left with no choice. The lady made a little effort and gave us a Mini Cooper instead of an Opel Astra and offered a second driver at no cost, but this did not alleviate the stress, wasted time and additional charge which almost doubled the rental costs.
All in all, we should have gone with another reputable company. The initial alluring saving was a trap to lock us in and charge us extra when we had no choice.
Avoid!”
“After completing the booking, I was charged; however, the confirmation email came only after my pick-up time.
Seeing that my confirmation email does not arrive, I started searching, and I found a contact info. After I called them, I was informed that they have absolutely no vehicles available, even though my credit card was charged.
This company is operating with incredibly sketchy practices.”
“Told to call when arrived. No one answered for 45 minutes! When a rep finally answerd, I was told a shuttle would pick us up in 5 minutes. Still waiting 30 minutes later and no one is answering. Beware. Not worth minuscule savings. Save your time and go elesewhere.”
“Losing $145,000 to a scam shattered me. I felt helpless and completely broken. That’s when I found Mrs. Mercy. Her team’s professionalism stood out right away. They didn’t sugarcoat anything—they gave me a clear roadmap and followed through with constant updates. I didn’t expect much, but they came through and recovered a large amount of what I lost. Their support made all the difference.”

“Crooks. When I picked up the car, they obliged me to take an additional insurance which was supposed to be mandatory in the country while it was not.”

Stressfreerentals and Surprice - avoid using these two companies
We hired a car at Milan Bergamo airport with this company. We thought that this was the company that we were dealing with. But they are a broker.
The company that we were actually renting with was a company called Surprice Car Rentals.
When we got to Bergamo, there was a delay getting through immigration. We asked a nice gentleman to contact this company for us, so that we could be picked up and sort out the rental.
This took a long time and the guy who eventually picked us up, was in such a hurry to get back to the rental place, that he did not even wait for my daughter to sit in the car before he started driving off.
This caused my daughter to fall out of his car and graze her elbow and knees on the floor.
When we eventually got to the rental place, the guy turned round and said that he will not accept my MasterCard as it did not have the name of the issuing bank on it. I pointed out that I had paid the amount for the rental using that card. I also showed him the online statement of my card, but he said that he could not accept it. My card was John Lewis branded Partnership card, which is issued by Newday.
When I said that I did not want to hire the car from him, miraculously he could now accept the card.
I think this company is trying to scam people to cancel the original booking and retake a new one out, and this was going to be double what I originally paid.
The guy showed no remorse and when I said that I was not going ahead with rental, his only concern was that he would get in trouble if we didn't take the car.
On top of all this, we then took an Uber, which cost my us 180 euros to get from Bergamo airport to Milan centre.
To say this was gonna be a nice family trip, with the freedom to travel in and out of Milan to Como and beyond. The additional costs that I have incurred is so much higher than anticipated.
When I emailed all this to Stressfreerentals, their response was for me to send them a picture of my credit card so that they can check against the terms and conditions. They did not show any empathy and compassion towards what we went through. Nor about what happened to my daughter.
I would never use this company again and I would definitely tell anyone using Surprice to think twice before they do.”
“I bought a package through Expedia and when picking up the car there always all these extra fees. I had to pay an extra 200 for the car for insurance that I already had and a 150 claims management fee. What is that? Very deceptive practices. I called Expedia and they were no help. For what I paid for, I should have had a nice car and it was not. Never again. Beware of this company.”
“Avoid this place!
This was my first and definitely last time renting from them. They force you to buy their insurance, even if you already have coverage. It feels like a scam — they’ll come up with excuses or pressure tactics just to get you to pay extra. Do your research before booking and beware of their shady practices.”
“Avoid at all cost. Clear Bait and Switch.
After being shuttled away from the airport was told cannot rent the car without the extra 30-dollar a day insurance when their rental agreement did not state that was needed for Insurance’s with liability $300,000 dollars worth or more(which I had). Also had very high daily rate to hold Sun-pass/transponder. $130 rental became at $450 rental with these added fees.”
“I was completely locked out of my trading account after my withdrawal request got rejected. It felt like my entire investment was at risk. I’ve heard of this happening to others too, and it’s honestly terrifying. But when I reached out for support, Mrs. Mercy and her team didn’t let me down. They got me back on track and helped recover my money”

“I’m incredibly grateful I found FRED MERCY. They are true professionals when it comes to helping victims of investment fraud. From the beginning, their team acted swiftly and provided me with clear guidance and essential resources. Their support was instrumental in helping me recover my lost funds.
What stood out most was their transparency and professionalism. They broke down the legal process in a way I could understand, and they walked me through every step. They also assisted me in gathering all the critical documentation I needed, which made a big difference.
Thanks to FRED MERCY, I was able to reclaim my hard-earned savings. While this was a difficult experience, it taught me an important lesson: always be cautious when investing online. Do thorough research and consult with trusted professionals before making any financial commitments.”
“They gave us a dirty car when we checked in. When we returned the car they tried to accuse us of the dirt. Luckily, we have made video which could prove them the dirt was there in the beginning.
They are also not professional with missing important information on the record. We paid 300 euro deposit in advance but they didn’t return it to us unless we reminded them.
We will not recommend this company to you!”
“I rented a car for 7 days in Pisa through this company, and the experience was very disappointing. Upon arrival, the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, immediately rejecting my credit card because the name and numbers weren’t embossed—something that is rarely an issue with other rental companies. They also insisted I present an international driver’s license, even though my regular license has been accepted by multiple rental agencies across Europe without issue.
The staff then offered a “solution”: if I purchased their expensive premium insurance, suddenly my license would be acceptable and they would also accept American Express, which they had just refused. It felt like we were being pressured into paying extra for something we shouldn’t have needed.
We had no real choice but to accept this, as we were stranded at the airport and needed the car. While waiting, I saw at least five other customers turned away for similar reasons—non-embossed cards, arriving slightly late, or other minor issues—and all were offered the same “solution” of buying extra insurance.
This company clearly has a business model based on upselling unnecessary extras under pressure. It seems very likely that the staff earn commissions on these upgrades.”
“I booked car hire with Carjet, turns out that they are just a broker, ended up car hire is with Surprise car hire near Heathrow airport. I was charged twice for the car hire by Carjet and then scammed at the Surprise office to pay again. Plus aggressive upsell practices in Surprise office, and then when returning the car more aggressive behaviour trying to scam saying existing marks on the car were new. AVOID.”
