I moved from my flat to a house at the end of Feb, and was paying around £13 per month, I rung Swinton whom I was insured with to change over the insurance, obviously I knew the policy would go up as the building insurance would be added. Swinton wanted another whopping £384 for just 3 months. I felt they had me over a barrel so I paid it. My insurance is due to be renewed on the 9th of June, so i decided to go on compare the market and found a number of the same policy for around £300, which I took up, and this is for a whole year! I feel totally robbed by Swinton and had been with them 7 years, I definitely would not recommend them. Disgusting!

Swinton refused point blank to accept my claim when my roof leaked and ruined my ceiling! They said the wind recorded wasn’t strong enough and the rain not deep enough to constitute a storm so I wasn’t covered! What’s the point of insurance if this isn’t covered! Maybe some other company is better but Swintons are not getting anymore of my money as they seem to look for every reason not to pay out so it’s a waste of money!

Dreadful. A shelf came down in our kitchen. They don’t cover the thing that caused the breakage (ie. the shelf), though the wall is damaged, and the insurance company gave barely anything money wise towards all the broken crockery and other items. Not an insurance company I would recommend. Took months and months to sort out! Stressful experience!

After many years of paying them a reasonable amount for insurance, with not even a claim against for not even a penny, they quoted me £1,224.++ for insurance, in my opinion that is theft maybe even a scam or internal fraud. Just need look at quotes for that. Good i wasn't asked before to review them, because of how they took all that years money and gave nothing in return!

Trying to improve on a renewal quote. Letter from Swinton happened to arrive quoting car insurance from £160. Well obviously a joke but thought I would get an online quote anyway. My renewal price was £390.00 for a Ford Fiesta with Spouse as additional driver. He has a SP30 conviction ( 37mph in 30 limit ) from nearly 3 years ago. Other than that both have lifetime clean licences and never made any claims in over 35 years. Swinton basic quote ................ £920.00. Certainly having a laugh

So unbelievably bad. I loved Swinton about 4 years ago when it was proud to have British call centres. I spent one hour and thirty minutes in Africa trying to insure my small car urgently as I needed to drive the following day. Did I want home insurance? When is your home insurance due? Would you like life insurance? No I just want car insurance. Are you sure you wouldn’t like me to quote? One hour and thirty minutes it took to get a quote of £650 for a small car, no extras no frills. I was distraught and took it as I has to drive the following day. I then went onto compare the market and got a fabulous insurance for £245 yes £405 different. Of course they charged me for cancelling but I reckon if that’s what I had to go through to get my car insured, what would it be like if I had an accident and had to make a claim?

I received a letter from Swinton asking me to contact them immediately 07/12/24. I called Swinton customer services and was told by the customer service gentleman that a I had to pay additional £195 for a claim in January 2020. At first I had no recognition of this incident, then remembered that I had in formed my insurance company at the time of a minor incident which came to nothing. As I care for my 84 year old mother daily I cannot be without insurance so I paid the £195. I then explained to the customer service gentleman that I had been advised to contact my insurance company at the time of the incident January 2020. This incident from January 2020 came to nothing; neither I or the other driver wanted to pursue the incident. Should this have only been kept as notification only? Call made 07/12/24 And the gentleman found something funny as he kept laughing throughout our conversation.

24hrs contact with this company to have car insurance cost me £40 otherwise a refusal to pay would incur debt collectors and bad credit rating. This company has you over a barrel and take great pleasure in threatening to squeeze every last pence from you. Harry .

Terrible administration, Swinton cannot even quote a new price clearly - in small type it states prices quoted do not include service charge ! But it doesn't state clearly what this is until almost the end of the payment process - When this is added on - £40, a competitive price is no more!! General administration is very poor, had similar but different problems with them last year. How this company somehow achieves a rating as high as 2.9 is beyond me.

Home insurance went up from £300.00 to £600.00. Hard work trying to cancel auto-renew. Finally managed it, and was told that Swinton could reduce the price. Well, the horse had bolted by then. I’d expect as a loyal customer to be automatically offered their best price. Not being ripped off. Dreadful company. I will NEVER darken their doorstep again.

They are tied to Atalanta and do not check the market They use pending debits on your bank account when you don’t renew with them AVOID

Swinton home insurance, Wouldn't even give then a one star review if I could. Had trouble with them last year when they refused to pay out. Then on my renewal they put my monthly payment up to 45 pounds. But took two payments in one month making me go over my overdraft. I looked around for a cheaper deal found one offering the same for half the price. Phone them up to see if they could give me a better deal. After the process of checking prices they offered me the same as I had for an extra 300 pound a year. I asked how and was told that's just the way things are but you can keep your current quote. I got the other one with another insurance firm phoned them back and cancelled. Absolutely disgusting in the company

If you want a heart attack or stroke deal with these, if not barge pole springs to mind.Sorry to say but they treat people as if they have got something on their shoe. The y are quick at takinging money. Claim time they must have a book of reasons to say no.

Shockly poor company, Auto renewed buildings insurance, when challenged and demanded refund the adviser refused. Asked to speak to a manager Mr Lungelo and was shocked by his response when he stated there would be an admin charge to cancel policy £20 and £40 to change policy details. Then wanted details of new insurer. I explained I hadn't sourced a new insurer as yet and would run new quote through comparison site( also non of his god damn business) Mr arrogant then tried to argue the point. Areas of shocking concern despite not requesting auto renewal Swintons tried to bully me in to accepting renewal and tried to imposed various fictitious charges in order to dis way cancellation. I found their conduct not only illegal ie distant selling act 14 days cool off period, if I had intentionally sought their services let alone a sneaky auto renewal. I will be taking this to the financial ombudsman. Such appalling business practices. SHAME ON YOU CON MERCHANTS!
