“Terrible experience with Swinton Insurance.
I had to cancel my car insurance because I no longer own the vehicle. The car was bought back by the dealership due to serious defects, so keeping the policy active was not an option.
Despite this, Swinton still tried to charge me a £55 cancellation fee, with a final amount to pay of £54.14. I find this completely unreasonable given the circumstances. I was not cancelling because I changed my mind or found a cheaper policy; I no longer had the car.
The whole situation has been stressful enough already, and Swinton added to that by treating it like a normal cancellation and trying to charge me for it.
Very poor customer service, very poor handling, and I would not recommend Swinton Insurance.”
“Absolutely frustrating time trying to renew a Business Insurance policy where the named person has left the business and they won't allow us to renew despite us having all the relevant information for the renewal. My colleague has spoken to Kevin yesterday and Olivia this morning. I've spoken to an Amy who despite being asked to put my call through to Olivia (and latterly a manager) has just caused more and more frustration. Personally, as a Trustee of the Business, I'm inclined to get renewed elsewhere but time doesn't allow. I suggest you get the call recording up before you come back to me.”
“I was impressed by how quickly and professionally my case was managed. Thanks to their efficiency, my withdrawal issue was resolved without unnecessary delays.
They maintained transparent communication and kept me updated at every stage. The consistency of their support made a challenging situation much easier to navigate.”
“BUYER BEWARE……!!!
If you want to risk your money use Swinton, they are owned by Directors and Managers that do not care about their customers…. Awful Customer Service that is run out of South Africa…!
Go to insurance companies directly, DO NOT use Swinton.!!
Even raised a complaint with Swinton and they don’t care less.!!!”
“Scammers charged me for whole year even I don’t have a car and they said it’s terms and conditions you have to pay for whole year
Proper Scammers and making people stupid”
“They are absolutely useless. Been on hold for over half an hour for a very simple query and have spoken to four people who keep transferring me to someone else. Terrible company”
“Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs
I strongly advise anyone to seek insurance elsewhere. After someone drove into the back of my car, I was told that Enterprise would be handling the repair. In reality, they handed me off to a third-party claims handling company without clearly informing me. I’ve since submitted a GDPR request for the call transcript, where it was supposedly explained that I had two options—I have no recollection of this conversation. I’ve also asked for a copy of the credit agreement I supposedly signed. Nothing.
The complaints process is deliberately obstructive, and they don’t bother to follow up. It's been nothing but frustration and confusion. I’ll be escalating my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman in 8 weeks and reporting them to the FCA.
AVOID AVOID AVOID.”
“Even 1 is too high a score! I went to Swindon through confused.com, filled all the details out on Confused.com but by the time I went through to Swinton the information was different but I wrongly assumed it was the same. When I spoke to them the next day and told them I would not be taking out the insurance with them, they kept £40 of the deposit I had paid advising it’s in their T&Cs!
Advise: Go through an insurance company direct like Admiral not a broker like Swinton
Avoid at all cost as the way they run their business is underhand!”
“I moved from my flat to a house at the end of Feb, and was paying around £13 per month, I rung Swinton whom I was insured with to change over the insurance, obviously I knew the policy would go up as the building insurance would be added. Swinton wanted another whopping £384 for just 3 months. I felt they had me over a barrel so I paid it.
My insurance is due to be renewed on the 9th of June, so i decided to go on compare the market and found a number of the same policy for around £300, which I took up, and this is for a whole year! I feel totally robbed by Swinton and had been with them 7 years, I definitely would not recommend them.
Disgusting!”
“Swinton refused point blank to accept my claim when my roof leaked and ruined my ceiling! They said the wind recorded wasn’t strong enough and the rain not deep enough to constitute a storm so I wasn’t covered! What’s the point of insurance if this isn’t covered! Maybe some other company is better but Swintons are not getting anymore of my money as they seem to look for every reason not to pay out so it’s a waste of money!”
“Dreadful. A shelf came down in our kitchen. They don’t cover the thing that caused the breakage (ie. the shelf), though the wall is damaged, and the insurance company gave barely anything money wise towards all the broken crockery and other items. Not an insurance company I would recommend. Took months and months to sort out! Stressful experience!”
“Wanted to change address, they said i would have to pay £30, then the guy said he couldnt do it and i would need a new policy and wanted to charge me an extra £200+ what a rip off, i will never use this company again”
“After many years of paying them a reasonable amount for insurance, with not even a claim against for not even a penny, they quoted me £1,224.++ for insurance, in my opinion that is theft maybe even a scam or internal fraud. Just need look at quotes for that. Good i wasn't asked before to review them, because of how they took all that years money and gave nothing in return!”
“Trying to improve on a renewal quote. Letter from Swinton happened to arrive quoting car insurance from £160. Well obviously a joke but thought I would get an online quote anyway. My renewal price was £390.00 for a Ford Fiesta with Spouse as additional driver. He has a SP30 conviction ( 37mph in 30 limit ) from nearly 3 years ago. Other than that both have lifetime clean licences and never made any claims in over 35 years.
Swinton basic quote ................ £920.00. Certainly having a laugh”
