“I am officially in love with this product! Simple and so easy to use, it doesn’t smell at all chemical-y, goes on easily and did not make my head burn or itch. The package you get is so generous with all the bits you can reuse. And the end result? AMAZING!! The colour is absolutely spot on, exactly what I wanted. It has depth and highlights instead of one flat colour. The shampoo and conditioner is fabulous also, left my hair manageable without being too soft and my hair was significantly less frizzy than it normally is after a supermarket box colour. Will definitely be using this product again!”

“My hair feels soft, looks shiny and I LOVE the colour. The accessories make it easier to apply the colour just where you want it, especially for root touch-ups and keep my bathroom clean. “Complete Grey Coverage – Your Hair Salon In A Bag! Loved having the chance to trial this product. Thank you BH. I selected my hair colour by going to theshade.com,au and I had an online colour consultation where I could select from 27 colours. Apart from the hair colour kit in a lovely box you also get a hair salon in a bag. Everything you could possibly need to colour your hair like a professional at home. I colour my hair (the re growths) once every 6 weeks at home. I loved the resusable cape which i’ll be using again. The hair clips, were too big for my fine hair, It’s a bit fiddly as there are more steps then your usual quick mix hair colour at home. Though the salon results were great and worth the effort. Ammonia and PPD Free. Contains Argan oil, Aloe vera and ginseng. I expected a strong smell but there wasn’t. It was quite pleasant and inviting. Very relaxing aroma. The results were a high lovely shine, soft silky hair and the coverage was absolutely impressive. I left it on for the extra 10mins for stubborn greys. It exceeded my expectations. I definatley be using it again. The colour came out darker than expected though i’m sure after a few washes it will blend and look a little lighter like some home colours do that i’m used to. It was a delight to use, no strong smell, i actually dyed my hair in my lounge room. End results also gave my hair a thicker look as I have fine hair. Looked healthier and I couldn’t stop touching my silky feel and look hair. It was an absolute pleasure in trialing this product. Every woman who dyes their hair whether at the salon or at home should try this. You’ll never look back. I was highly impressed. 10/10! Any Tips?: Great for sensitive scalps. “Beautiful colour and an excellent kit. I used the Catania (Lightest beige blonde) on my naturally dark blonde hair that had been dyed a rose gold previously. The colour came out beautiful and cool toned with fabulous shine. Would highly recommend The Shine :)”

“Really loving my new shade! It is such a delight to have everything you need in the kit to do your hair and much more than I ever expected. It was so easy, fast, and mess free. I will never go back to the salon and sit there for hours only to be disappointed $200 later, or buy a packet mix full of chemicals from the supermarket ever again! Oh and they matched my favourite hair colour perfectly :)”

“I really appreciate your customer service, tools, videos, emails, etc, but I did not get a good result from the dye. I followed the instructions to the letter but the end colour was very dark and red - almost a cherry burgundy on my hair and it’s not flattering (I had golden brown which I was hoping would not end up red). Also I had a lot of fallout - my hair is really thin since dying earlier this week and I seem to have lost my curl - not a good result. I’ve already booked an appt with my hairdresser to see if they can recolour and cut it in a way that will mitigate some of the damage so it’s going to cost me a lot to try and fix! This is not the first time I’ve dyed my hair at home and I did a patch test that had no reaction, but this is definitely the worst result I’ve ever had. I really was hopeful with so much support that this would be a better product.”

Hi Maggie, We are sorry to hear that you didn't get the colour result you were after. The final colour result is affected by your original colour and the colour tones within your hair. Golden brown does have warm reflect within it and if you lighten your hair the lightening process can reveal red undertones within your hair colour. Did you lighten your hair significantly? What was your colour level and tone before colouring? Our colour doesn't make your hair thinner. The colouring process actually makes the hair a little thicker during the process of depositing the colour pigments in the hair. Your hairdresser will use a cool toned colour to counteract the warm/reddish reflect which should neutralize the unwanted warm colour effect.

“I have normal, frizzy, tired, middle aged hair - normally I colour at home with known products and they don't cover the grey very well, lack shine and seem a bit monotone and flat. The Shade however! I tried mahogany brown on clean hair washed 2 days ago, and the grey cover is outstanding! There is tone, shine and bounce - without any extra work or product, it's already more curly bouncy than frizz and the colour is so rich! 5 thumbs up from me.”

“Firstly navigating the website of The Shade was pleasant and easy. I loved the colour consultant to help pick a gorgeous colour. Bellagio - darkest brown was colour I selected. Once my package arrived only a few days later I excitedly opened it up to find a very slick and smart looking little box along with a small black bag. The kit looks great. I like that you get absolutely everything you need. The cape covered great. Also to find a barrier oil and also a colour removal wipe instantly gave me ease knowing I would get a much better colouring experience. The Shade colouring kit looks and feels that it is very professional and upmarket unlike cheap supermarket brands. The mixture spreads surprising well through very thick and long hair. The brush is a good size for application. The hook on end of the brush is great for helping with sectioning hair. There is no chemically smell at all. No over powering perfumes either. I felt No heat or itching on my scalp at all at any stage. I ordered an extra dye for long hair. There was a really good amount within the 2 dyes, there was actually dye left over which never happens with other kits. The dye is not heavy feeling whilst in your hair. The dye did not stain my scalp which I find happens in supermarket kits so I was surprised to notice this. Washing the dye out was easy. The shampoo and conditioner provided has left my hair feeling amazingly soft and light. Unfortunately after leaving the dye on 45 minutes it only covered approximately 90-95% of my grey hair completely. I feel maybe if the mixture was on my hair longer then the 45 minutes it may have achieved 100% My only thought with the kit was that the type of glove almost cheapened the kit. Possibly better fitting gloves would be great but otherwise I love everything about The Shade hair colour kit. I can’t wait to try another colour.”

“Im back, i come back for another round and this time i went from my Deep Golden Brown to Medium Blonde. This brought my hair back to a more Spring tone. It come out a lovely light brown honey colour and looks great in the sun. Again this long hair kit covered all my hair and gave full coverage. Looks like i stepped out of a salon again. This is my go to brand for all my hair colours and such good value for $34.95.”

“Oh how i love The Shade, so first off i did not believe a home hair dye kit was even going to dye all my hair as it is sooooo long and thick. I bought the long hair kit and loved it, this really does make home hair dying so easy and no mess. I love the kit i get everything i need like bowl, mat, clips & gloves. This is the first dye kit to ever cover all of my hair like i states, it gave my hair full coverage and was so shiny & soft afterwards. This colour is the Deep Golden Brown, my hair was a brown/red faded colour before, very impressed with the depth of colour and how it did not damage my hair in any way. Everyone thought i has this done at a salon. Totally hooked on this brand now and i can dye my hair for $34.95 the cheapest ever as my hair can costs up to $300 easy. Thanks The Shade will be back.”

“This is such an awesome product I can't believe how soft and shiny my hair is now, I can't stop touching it :) The colour is really deep, and it's exactly the shade I wanted. The Salon Kit comes with everything you need, bowl and brush, 4 clips, a cape to wear and even a bench mat so you don't stain your bathroom bench! I use to go to a salon, but not anymore. My Colour Kit now comes delivered to my door every 4 weeks (you can choose your frequency of delivery between 2 - 8 weeks). As well as the colour and developer, you also get colour protection shampoo and conditioner, a colour remover wipe, gloves, and barrier oil (so the colour doesn't go on your face). 10 out of 10!”
