“I ordered a "trial" and was surprised to receive an email stating I was to receive another order. Advised by Craig I'd signed a "subscription". That's ok. My fault for not reading the fine print better. My next issue was the original colour I'd ordered was way too dark and it was being sent to me again. Craig then advised he'd send me another colour with $9.00 for postage. I remarked that $9.00 was expensive for postage, particularly when I was receiving a product I didnt feel I'd actually ordered and I felt slightly scammed by the whole thing. Craig's reply was nothing but obnoxious, rude and stupidly arrogant. He is the only person you are able to speak to! Buyer beware. It's all great if it goes well. If there are any issues, Craig has no concept of customer service, basic manners or whether you are a satisfied customer or not. Disgusted!”

Dear Nikki, We processed your order as we do for hundreds of customers each day. You said that your colour was too dark and I offered to send you a free replacement tube of colour for the cost of postage. That is a tube of hair colour, the box, the label, the shipping bag, and the postage and handling for $9.00 which you told me was excessive. We do require changes to subscriptions to be made prior to the shipment date, which you neglected to do. For the sake of ensuring you get the right colour, I was happy to make you the offer. “After years of colouring my hair at the hairdressers I decided to do it myself. Working from home during COVID (in case it turned out yuk) and The Shade's free offer boosted me to finally give it a go. It was recommended I mix amalfi & sicily to obtain a neutral shade. I found it abit tricky to apply around the roots (I'm sure I'll get better) but the process wasn't too bad at all, and I only used half of both tubes. The result was fantastic. A little darker than I expected but I prefer it - a more natural medium blonde that toned down my yellow bits and lifted my darker roots. My hair felt fantastic afterwards and it didn't damage my curls. I will be able to used the left over colour when its due to be re-done and I have subscribed to The Shade. So glad I finally gave home-colouring a go. Just do it guys!”

“It’s like having an at home spa / salon experience. The toolkit including brush, bowl, clips, cape and mat are such great quality. The packaging with barrier oil, developer, hair colour, shampoo, conditioner and gloves is so well though out. Usually 30 minutes feels like a chore and I put off colouring my hair until the last moment, but this feels like an indulgent treat I don’t need to delay. When applied it doesn’t smell of chemicals or drip easily. There’s heaps of product for those with long, thick hair. The shampoo and conditioner smell amazing and as if they’ve just come from Aesop. Please consider doing them in travel size. An extremely well thought out concept for professional hair colouring at home.”

“I no longer wished to bleach my hair and wanted to find a shade as close to my natural hair colour as possible and one that would cover my greys. The Shade ad popped up on my Facebook newsfeed so I thought I’d investigate further. I ordered my first kit and my husband dyed my hair two weeks ago for me. I love how natural the colour looks. The shampoo and conditioner are fabulous. After dying my hair always feels like dry straw but as soon as I put some of the conditioner on it it magically became soft and smooth! I’d highly recommend The Shade to others. I am so happy with my hair.”

“I havn't been to a hairdresser since the 2nd Feb 2020. I thought I would try and embrace my sparkles (greys) at 51 but no I cant just yet. I purchased the shade trial and have only just coloured my hair and I am very happy. The smell was non existent which is a nice change and my greys are covered and my hair feels amazing. I love the fact that im not putting harsh chemicals on my hair as I have been colouring for the last 25 years.”

“I followed the instructions for covering stubborn grey hair and it hasn’t covered the greys. It bleached them white. I used 8.2. I don’t think it ha fully coloured the regrowth either.”

Hi Narelle, Sorry you had trouble colouring your greys. You mentioned to one of our colourists that you have stubborn greys, and it seems this certainly is the case. I spoke to someone in customer service to try and rectify the order. He was useless and so unhelpful. Based on this I would not recommend this service.to anyone.”

“Good coverage for greys, but I ordered a 6 which is the color level I would usually have and it was much darker than a level 6 would normally be on my hair. I also noticed quite a bit of hair fall when I was rinsing the dye out (pre-test was fine), and I also found that the shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling quite matted. The color has lasted well (4 weeks). Overall reasonably good color but I would go a level lighter if I was to order again.”
