I think our mentor was great though I don't like the TM system. I think the price is too high. I don't like the secretiveness of the system. I am not sure it is much different from a lot of other meditative instruction. I thought the ritual was antiquated and onerous though I can see the respect that you give the founders. I found the videos redundant and onerous. I guess I am glad I now know what it is though it was overpriced and over valued as a unique system.

Well meditation works, but I don't think anyone should spend hundreds of dollars to learn to repeat one word over and over again.

I have not seen even a minor benefit to practicing tm for the past two weeks. I will, however continue to practice until I speak with my teacher during my first follow up on 8/31.

Was not entirely satisfied with my TM teacher. He was very responsible and punctual, but I did not feel that he was unable to answer some of the questions I had, and instead would ramble for a few minutes and dodge the question entirely. He did not seem at all confident in the instruction he was giving me, therefore I don’t feel confident in my practice. I’m not happy with the practice.

The only thing really unique about this meditation practice is the cult-like way in which they try to maintain an air of mystery and secrecy. Functionally it is no different from mindful meditation. It's a bunch of money for an app and increased email marketing.

We appreciate your concerns, and we're sorry you are disappointed in your TM course! To clarify, mindfulness meditations generally involve paying attention to your breath and observing your thoughts, whereas the TM technique doesn’t involve any focused attention or observation of experience. It’s a mantra-based meditation that naturally results in self-transcending. It’s simple, entirely effortless, and enjoyable. Regarding the privacy, we ask that the details of the TM practice are kept private mainly to avoid people mistaking the mantra on its own for the technique as a whole. Also, we do offer a satisfaction guarantee, and if you'd like more details your TM teacher will be happy to help you with that. You're also welcome to reach out to tmsupport@tm.org :)

Overall disappointing experience. Have been meditating for a couple of years prior to TM. Based on how the technique was promoted, I was hoping to dig deeper, but I felt my questions were quickly dismissed by instructor. Can someone please reach out to discuss a solution? Thanks.

I see no difference between Sitting close eyes and TM. I don’t have no results or feeling they promised to me. I’m still determined to learn the technique. Hope I will get help.

I’m 2+ mos in and went into this with no expectations … but it just seems to be a waste of time not to mention money (that I’m still paying for). I just can’t grasp the technique …never feel revived, in fact, have low energy afterwards when practiced in the afternoons. I’ve “un-recommended” to friends.

At the introductory meeting I pointed out that Joseph had a very soft, quiet voice that I could not hear him... He said his wife would do the instruction. For my first lesson it was Joseph. I was in a very receptive mood, I did not object, expecting Denise to show up and take over. She did not show for instruction. The lesson became most annoying. Had to ask him several times what he had said. Then I quit asking. It made the lesson a negative experience. I had a lot of anger after the lesson. Denise is 100% sales pitch. The experience soured me on TM and all meditation.. Have considered starting over at another TM center.

Initially, I was very excited about learning and using the TM technique. But, I didn't not enjoy my training at all, and I feel my time was somewhat wasted. I'm not sure why, if the technique is so easy, my instructor went out of her way to sabotage my learning experience. After fully completing the four day class series I left without understand the steps to actually meditate and use the technique. Now, I'm am searching the internet for videos and information that will help me figure out what I am supposed to do to practice Transcendental Meditation. The instructor in charge of my training was not at all helpful during the 4 day training session. In fact, she seemed very uninterested in my success in learning the method. During the group training sessions, she made fun of individual students and shut down conversation by making light of concerns or questions that came up. Sadly, I this instructor left me with the knowledge that she is not approachable, so I cannot contact her for any additional help.

Would have rather spent my $500 on a TM weekend retreat. The amount of service I did receive would be $200-250 value.
