The technique is good but I expected a more robust training experiene for the cost of it.

The reason why is because I'm not sure what I'm experiencing and what I'm going to experience over time with doing TM. I'm just not sure.

The basic idea of TM is different from other meditation techniques and I can see that being a helpful difference, but I feel like the instruction is very one-size-fits-all and the answers to my questions and struggles are just repeats of what has already been said. There's not a lot of room to ask questions and get a nuanced response. They keep saying meditate with "ease" and don't "focus" or "try" but these ideas are so much easier said than done. Just saying it doesn't make it so. I will stick with the practice to see if it starts to fall in place, but I feel discouraged that my experience is not matching what they assert the experience will be.

Hi Kate, we're sorry you're feeling discouraged with your TM experience. Every aspect of the TM course was designed intentionally by our founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, to ensure that anyone, no matter their learning style, can learn to practice correctly. It might feel repetitive to some but learning to practice the technique correctly is essential for getting the maximum benefits. Additionally, we've seen how important personal follow-up sessions can be. Often the benefits are noticeable right away, but occasionally it can take some time. We encourage you to seek a free, personal follow-up with your TM instructor to discuss your experience and clarify any lingering questions you may have, especially if you continue to feel like you aren't experiencing any benefits.

The technique has resulted in insomnia for me. While it was interesting to explore, it was not for me.

I found the instruction to be a bit inflexible.

The app is great, the videos are great and the actual technique is awesome and very noticeably beneficial when performed. However, the so-called 1 on 1 experience with a live teacher was not good for me. It was so unpleasant as to be distracting from my practice. But the teacher interaction is such a small part of the process that I just tried to get through it and push on so that I could practice on my own. The community seems good so I’m still hopeful there will be future opportunities for connection there. TM is worth the investment if you can get past the financial cost and possible time spent amongst a few less than inspiring individuals. I’ve done several types of meditation and can honestly say this is the easiest and has the quickest results. I came for relaxation but have gotten so much more out of it.

I think it’s personal and likely effects each person differently. I have had small success but am not happy overall as I am not seeing any lasting effects. Also the devotion to 20 min 2x daily has increased my anxiety as it is not always possible to do and then I feel guilt about not meeting the expectations. Something for me to work on personally, but I wish the practice itself didn’t have to be so regimented.

Hi Cinda, We're sorry you're not happy with your TM practice! We wanted to remind you, there is no pressure to meditate 20 min, twice a day. That is the recommended daily routine to experience the maximum results . However, if it is difficult for you to fit two practices each day, it's ok to meditate once a day, and work up to fitting in two if you'd like to. We strongly encourage you to schedule a free, personal follow-up with your TM teacher. They'll be happy to further support you :) You can also reach out to us at tmsupport@tm.org!

I think the video quality was poor. The checking in could have been a bit more intriguing. John was good but over all the experience was lacking something for me. I hope my practice continues to bloom with time. I will say the money that’s mixed with spirituality is a turn off for me but I do understand the need. Also offering advanced techniques for additional money feel off to me. My vipassna training was 10 days room and board, amazing food and a lifetime of being able to volunteer at any site around the world. This seems to be a much better model for spiritual techniques. Just my 2 cents. Thank you.

It’s okay sometimes and everyone is different but I just often feel like there are a lot of other things I would rather be doing for the approximate hour I’ve been spending on this each day.
