“I was buying and selling something via Rebelle, a platform for designer 2nd hand clothes, there was a massive issue with not receiving notifications if items have sold, I could not reach them on the phone as they were not available, so I left a message on Trustpilot with a review that had only 2 stars and said they need to sort the IT issues, they replied to me on Trustpilot that they are aware, then emailed and called me to explain the problem with their IT and how they solved it. Today Trustpilot claims they could not verify that my review was authentic... Seriously, even with a company member replying and saying they are aware of the problem?”

“Trust pilot recommends a fraudulent group called "local agent finder". Here's my review of Local Agent Finder: I needed a Brisbane based Real Estate Agent and so I googled exactly that. The list of web sites started with "Local Agent Finder", which offers to connect property vendors with local real estate agents "100% free" and with "no obligation". This claim might be considered true from a technical perspective. In practice the result of using the site is that the vendor gets a list of recommended agents and Local Agent Finder receives a message telling them that the activity has connected the vendor to those agents. Local Agent Finder then requires that any recommended Real Estate Agent used by the vendor pay Local Agent Finder 0.375% of the sale price. The agent then passes all of that cost on to the vendor, and so by using the site the vendor has unknowingly added 0.375% of the sale price to the overall cost of selling the property. If the sale price is $1m, that's a cost of $3750. The vendor is unable to use the agent without paying the fee, and must therefore either rule the recommended agents out of consideration of pay the fee. It is therefore wrong, unethical, and probably illegal for the company to claim that their services are free and without obligation. The definition of fraud in law is "intentional deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain". I believe that the behavior described above meets the definition of fraud. Even if only a small percentage of property sales are affected by this scam, then this company is making huge profits for doing, and through deceptive means. I intend to raise these matter with as fraud through the relevant regulatory agencies. I'm confident that once a legal review is conducted the practice will deemed illegal. Local Agent Finder got a 9.1 rating and kind words from Trust Agent.”

“I believe TrustPilot are also complicit in scams by aiding and abetting fraudulent companies that use TrustPilot in order to harbour fake reviews and are able to manipulate TrustPilot into removing negative reviews which in turn is duping people into believing certain companies and their services are legit. Review on TrustPilot are not to be trusted. Do not Trust TrustPilot and it's reviews. Fake reviews go unchecked but real reviews that are negative get removed despite you providing evidence that you have dealt with the said company in question. Filter all reviews and read the real negative reviews as it's much harder to give a negative review on TrustPilot and these are therefore probably legitimate and are a true reflection. Or simply do not use TrustPilot”

“I chose a company solely based on its excellent rating on Trust pilot to perform a specific service for me. I lost 250 euros because that was simply a scam company, full of “great” fake reviews on “Trust pilot”. The EU authorities really need to take a closer view there and ban them from service. Thank you ant-trust pilot! Do not “trust” at all costs!”

“Trust pilot took down a negative review I wrote about the company after the business asked them to remove the review. When I asked them about it, they demanded "proof of transaction" with the company. I sent them an email with proof of transaction and they said it wasn't "enough". How can you trust a website that is paid by businesses to shore up only positive reviews?”

“Absolutely pointless to ever bother writing an accurate negative review - with the intention of sparing other consumers from the same fate. Trustpilot will simply bow down to the named business and either demand you remove elements of the review that the company doesn’t like and/or block your email account forever more - preventing you from commenting ever again. Trustpilot allows businesses to increase their score by using hundreds of fake reviews by people with a vested interest. Vile. Corrupt and in cahoots with the reviewed organisations. Don’t waste your time viewing or reviewing Trustpilot. The name couldn’t be more ironic if it tried. Avoid! Don’t allow your intelligence to be insulted.”

“What a shower, removed a genuine review I added the purchase order number then they continued to remove all my reviews and stopped me from logging in. No replies to my emails and their on line 'chat' is useless, they keep telling me the matter is being handled by their compliance team and they cannot comment.”

“The following is an example of a racially motivated witchhunt initiated by Yell.com and finally taken over by Trustpilot. Flashback: I left a review on Yell.com in 2015 about a tyre service in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, because of the way I was treated by the staff, who referred to me as a f@@@@@g foreigner, and who finally overcharged me on purpose for the shabby service I have received. Because of the fact that this tyre service changed ownership in 2019 (4 years after the incident took place), Yell suddenly decided to accuse me of having used offensive and profane language in my review and consequently decided to have it deleted. Sure enough, I was not very happy about this and left a review about Yell. com on Trustpilot. However, it appears that Daftpilot was contacted by Yell.com being commanded to remove my review because of the same reason(s). I leave it to the reader now to skim through the remarkable journey to leave an honest and unbiased review about some pretty screwed up British companies who think they stay above the Law. So, here we go: Truly, an experience to remember trying to leave an honest and unbiased review... Yell.com invites customers of their listed companies to leave a review about their experiences with their subscribers. Lo and behold, that is what I just did in '2015', and it has to be said that my review stood the test of time until early 2018 when I received a notification from YELL, informing me that they removed my review because I allegedly used 'offensive language'. The one word they referred to was 'dimwit', and it appears that YELL was asked to take care of me by the new owner of their subscriber. Hence, I duly received the following message: ----------------------------------------------------- We were recently contacted to investigate your review of Lakeland Tyres Service Centre Ltd on Yell.com. Upon further investigation we have concluded that your review does not appear to comply with Yell’s Reviews Policy (available at: ****************). Thus, the review has been removed. To be more specific, your review has been removed because the language used therein was of an offensive nature. It contained the word dimwit which is classed as offensive and as such cannot be used in a review. We encourage all reviews, both positive and negative, provided they comply with the policies described above. We understand you’ll be disappointed with this decision, but should you wish to re-submit your review in compliance with our policies, we’d be happy to consider this for publication. Please note, however, that you can’t post a review for the same business using the same account until 30 days after the original review you posted. ------------------------------------------------------------ My review related to a shoddy tire service in Enniskillen where I was addressed as an 'eFfing' Foreigner, and where I was willfully overcharged on my original bill. At this stage, I leave it to the imagination of the reader about the motives of YELL's decision to get rid of my dreaded review while accusing me of gross misconduct. More importantly, YELL's message is riddled with bad grammar (as one can hardly miss) which clearly speaks for itself. Therefore, let me conclude to advise everybody to be always nice to YELL's customers, nevermind how harsh your treatment may have been as they will not tolerate 'honest and unbiased' reviews. ______________________________________________________ 14 April 2019 It has now come to my attention that YELL.com accuses me once again of using offensive and discriminating language. This time, I am being investigated by Trustpilot upon a complaint received from YELL. Consequently, I have now involved a friend, who happens to be a lawyer, According to him, the term 'dimwit' is certainly not known to be offensive nor are the insulting references that were thrown at me back then. To use his words "You are reviewing an incident where you as a customer was subjected to insulting and demeaning behaviour. Furthermore, the tyre service in question purposefully overcharged you which, in itself amounts to a crime. At this stage, I sincerely hope that Trustpilot will investigate this matter without prejudice as they are known to me as a trusted and unbiased review platform. ---------------------------------------------------------- 18th April 2019 Upon receiving an email from Trustpilot this morning, I was openly accused of using inflammatory, insulting, and offensive language because I was reporting about insults that were thrown directly at me. Moreover, I was asked in unmistaken terms to remove the following phrases from my review 'unwanted foreigners' as, yet again, this wording appears to 'offend' people. Therefore, please read and digest the following extract from the email received: ------------------------------------------------ Your review contains accusations or statements that are potentially defamatory. We welcome all genuine reviews on Trustpilot - including negative reviews about an unsatisfactory experience. But we can’t allow statements that risk causing harm to people, violate our rules and may also break the law. Please edit your review to remove: “Racially motivated institution which likes to have a go at foreign nationals” “YELL received a handsome payment to get rid of my dreaded review” "'unwanted foreigners" --------------------------------------------------------- Clearly, this is illegal gagging and Trustpilot's action is completely missing the point as I think that consumers should have the right to publish their experiences in an honest and unbiased manner. Consequently, I did agree to remove or change the statements made about YELL, although I know first hand that the tyre service I am referring to has changed ownership this year. Therefore, it is needless to delve any deeper in this witchhunt as the change of ownership speaks for itself. The fact remains, that I was referred to as an 'eFfing foreigner' and I was purposefully overcharged on my bill. By the end of the day, the evidence is still with me. Also, I strongly believe that my nationality, in particular, has led to this hypocritical onslaught. Therefore, rest assured that this case will now receive full public attention throughout Europe.”

“Useless. They take away reviews because 'they don't meet compliance'. I gave advice on how to get your money back from a scamming company and they reported me and Trustpilot sided with them instead of me?? On this site a warning pops up that trustpilot employees wrote reviews here? Such a laughable company.”

“I made a review on Trustpilot about the company Barq.com. Twice they sent me a message like this: “Unfortunately, we cannot reinstate it just yet as it still contains defamatory language: "They are clearly taking advantage of unsuspecting business owners".” How is this defamatory? I just now tried to login to once again edit my review and I’m greeted with this message: “Sorry, your login link has expired. Please log in using one of the options below.” and expect me to use my Facebook or Google account to login. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of leaving an ANONYMOUS review?! My login was working a few days ago. They are clearly making it difficult for me to leave a review about another scam company like Barb.com.”

“This is meant to be a review site where people can get information and, hopefully, good advice from other Consumers. This is definitely not the case. Unless the reviews given are in favour of the 'paying' Company's on Trustpilots list they will not print them or they hound you for months to change your review. This has just happened to me. This site should be banned because it does not reflect the true intention of buyers!”

“I wrote a review of company and in 5 minutes my review was deleted and I can no longer have access to my account. I have never experienced such cyberbullying and It scared me how some websites work hand in hand with some companies to protect them from being unmasked from fraudulent business.”
