I was a big Turo fan until and had recommended 3 friends and they used Turo. But my last trip I asked if it would be a problem if I went over the 24 hours by 1 hour on my 4th day. I was told no problem with no mention of extra costs. Well my 24th hour would have ended at 10am on Saturday and I was able to get it in by 10am not 11am like I said I may need. I got my receipt and they added $125 charge for an additional day. I went thru the chats and got a case number then I got an email from ERICA on the Local Turo Support Team that said you requested past the 24 hour period so you get the full charge regardless of when you turned it in and nothing would be done. I didnt get a phone call or a response to my response to her message. Terrible customer service and I wont rent with Turo again and you should not either. If there is going to be an additional costs that should be mentioned up fron. TURO went from hero to zero quickly for me.

I booked a car Oakland airport. I left out of Seattle at on 20 November two hour flight from Seattle to Oakland. The host had my time I arrived in Oakland he had all my information what time the flight got in at 10 o’clock so that means I’ll get there in Oakland at 12 maybe a little after 12 so that’s considered the next day, the host drops the car off a day early so I get charged cancellation fee and I’m still waiting on the rest of my money. I ended up staying in the airport for seven hours got in at 12:05 had to wait for the renter car place to open up I got charged for something I didn’t do and they did not care. They still haven’t paid me my money yet. Please do not rent from these people. Every chance they get they will rob you and try to make it seem like it’s illegal. It was cheaper to go to enterprise at Oakland airport in Rent-A-Car , I save 200 and something dollars which I would’ve been paying almost $500 for a car from the 20th to the 24th. Be careful.

We just rented a vehicle to drive to one of Utah’s national parks from Las Vegas. Only hiccup with getting one was the first vehicle was canceled and we had to scramble for another setting us in a slight panic mode. We did get another vehicle. We enjoyed the trip there and back. We dropped the vehicle 5 hrs earlier than expected. No problems. Well, 5 days later we got a notice of exterior damage. It was the size of a softball on the tailgate area above the bumper. Unfortunately, we didn’t take pictures before and after to dispute this claim. I would highly advise renters to go over vehicle with owner before and after. You must take pictures as renter for your own benefits. I would take pictures of odometer reading before and after too. It seems Turo will side with owner (as in our case) . We got the minimal insurance that limits damages (luckily we did this) . Buyer beware!!! We didn’t take pictures because nothing happened to the vehicle during our rental period. Don’t give review of owner until 1-2 weeks later. My wife gave review next day with a good review only to be contacted about this bs scam. Specifically if in Las Vegas, avoid owner Judy ward (ju ju be license plate). She and her husband have 6 vehicles and they are NOT HONEST!!!!! Avoid turo in that area! We will go with traditional rental cars from now on.

My experience as a host was awful. Turo is literally ripping costumers off with "fees" . So I rented a car for $90 per day and since I selected "plan 90" Turo keeps 10% of that so I received $170 total. While Turo also charged the costumer $300 for that 2 day rental. The receipt shows "130 fee" which Turo takes on top of 10% they took from me. So when you see a car that costs $100 per day and you rent it for 3 days expect to pay $600 for 3 days instead of $300. RIDICULES!!

I had a terrible experience as a Turo Host!! We are in the SLC, Utah metro and started with a minivan. It was profitable, so we got another one, then tried a luxury SUV to appeal to the skiing visitors. The first 3 trips went perfect with raving reviews, but the third lost control in a rainstorm and got in an accident. Turo refused to process the damage claim, because my safety inspection was 3 months old. The claims adjuster also advised me that they could deny the claim, because I didn't have a photo of the guests Driver's License and photo of the guest holding the Driver's License. My personal insurance would not cover the damage, because the accident occurred during a Turo Trip. The damages we over $18,000 and we were stuck to cover the bill out of pocket! As we started this Turo Host experience, our current bank and insurance company would not consider being associated with Turo, this was my first ignored warning. The fine print in Turo's agreements gives them several loopholes and I haven't figured out how to hold Turo or their Guest accountable. The agreements include a no-lawsuits clause, so I cannot sue Turo. I have requested arbitration four times with no response. The risk of have any vehicles on the road, driven by strangers, with practically no insurance is way too high to be considered. I discourage anyone from becoming a Host. If you are already a host, I encourage you to cash-out your assets before they get totaled without coverage.

I don’t usually express an opinion on any site, but can’t stop without saying what happened to us! We reserved a Covette on Turo.com, this car was owned by a private individusl, who only advertised the car, on Turo.com, we rented the car for 24 hours I paid $254.51 for it, we picked up the car at the owners apartment. The man said that the car must be returned with a full thank, that was all the information, the day at 9 clock the next day. We took back the car, the owner inspected the car, we brought it back clean, put it in the owner, of the car didn’t say anything. The next day Turo company charged my account with a late fee of $297, It is true that we are late, we didn’t get there by 9 why didn’t the owner of the car tel me, that they charge a late fee at that time. This was a higher o mount than we paid for 24 hours!! My card was charged almost $300. After saw this amount on my account. I wrote to the owner rossnd me a phone number where I can complain, because of this amount I asked him what it is?! He said not to disturb me!!! It’s outrageous that they don’t inform the person, that if he returns the car after 30 minutes, they charge an extra day, and he didn’t even tell us when we picked up the car!!!😡😡😡😡 car Oner!! Scott Strouphauer 904-813-6769 I do not recommend it to anyone!!!😡 if he had said that if we returned the car later, we would have paid more attention he didn't give me any help to get a phone number or contact information from him, he was dismissive, he was outrageous!!!

Hi the Turo customer service is by far the worst on the plant Adam the so called supervisor was so rude and disrespectful lied over and over over promised that a supervisor would call never happen on 9 different separate occasions the reps said a supervisor would call one time I was told that an email was sent when I got the email. The email was actually from Emmanuel. It had nine misspelled words and at the bottom of it it was signed Virginia executive staff when calling the corporate office not only did they inform me that they would never send an email with nine misspelled words, but there was no Virginia in that office. Come to find out later that Emmanuel sent it and he was just a wrap. It was a scam from Turo when they sent me the email regarding the issue. I was also informed by a supervisor that day don’t have to follow policy and procedure from Turo because they are outsourced and they follow under another corporate domain and they have to answer to the reps not Toros customer service by far the worst in the country 85% don’t speak English they’re very uneducated. They lie to their teeth and their incredibly disrespectful and rude.

Our Turo car broke down in Flagstaff Arizona. Turo was more worried about the car than us. Their customer service is awful! It's obviously a call center outside of the U.S. they promised they would secure a car for us. It never happened. We were left to find our own way back to Sedona Arizona, and then back to Phoenix. I would not recommend using Turo! I will never use them again.

If a zero star was possible that’s what I’d give. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. I started out with a 2011 Chevy Cruze. As soon as I picked the car up brakes were scrubbing as well as multiple alert lights on including check engine light, low tire pressure and low oil. Not to mention the tires were basically bald and the car had a terrible smoke smell. When I got on the interstate the wheels kept pulling to the side everytime there was a slight deviation in the road. As soon as I made it safely home I called support and Jamal was very helpful in switching out the vehicle for a 2019 Nissan Altima. This car was slightly better at first however all of the same warning lights were on and the tires were making a loud roaring sound. I did let Jamal know and he replied the tires were new and I was the first one to use them. Even though judging by the remaining tread that’s near impossible to believe. After driving like this for roughly 6 hours I’m going around a deep split curve on the interstate and the wheels lock up and I barely made it out of the curve to pull off on the side of the road. At this time I did sit there for a few minutes and then started to try to continue my drive however the vehicle would not move at all. I called roadside assistance to get a tow truck and Turo support informed me they had tried multiple times to get Jamal on the phone but since it was 2 am he wasn’t answering. I waited over 3 hours for a tow truck to arrive and once they finally arrived the driver was having a hard time getting the Altima loaded as the axle had broke and the wheel was almost falling off. The only way I had to get back home from my weekend vacation was to get a rental from a reputable company which cost me additional funds. This is by far the last thing I expected to happen since I researched not only this site but Jamal and his reputation and found primarily good reviews. So I’m not sure what happened but I will never be using Jamal nor Turo ever again!! Lesson learned.

Turo is a terrible scam company. They don't help if you have been scammed by their suppliers and they say you have to pay $200 to apply for arbitration before they will speak to you. As with any dodgy company it is fine if you don't have any issues, but if you do then this company is not worth dealing with. Do not use these scammers.

Upon arriving at the Portland, Maine airport, the Turo team served us an enormous “S**T SANDWICH” that ended up costing us $1,600US. They had canceled our two week reservation while we were in the air - a reservation that we had made 2 1/2 months earlier because of the well-known shortage of rental cars and accommodations in Portland during the fall foliage season. Turo’s irresponsible action left us high and dry - with absolutely zero rental cars available in the Portland area. Without a car, we could not get to our reserved accommodations a hundred miles away in Belfast, and the only room available in Portland was at the Hilton at the rate of $295/night. The two week vacation that we had planned and reserved 2 1/2 months ago had just turned to “S**T”! The stated excuse for the cancellation was that there was a problem with a tire. But in our fruitless search for a rental car we were told by an airport official and several car rental agents that Turo was engaged in an illegal scheme of staging rental cars a the airport parking lots with an attached combination lock box containing the keys. We were told that, when the lock boxes were discovered, the airport authorities would have the car towed off the lot. Several people at the airport suggested that the car we reserved had been towed, and that the tire excuse was BS. I should note that the Turo team stepped in to“address/solved our problem” by offering us a three day rental somewhere in Maine that would begin in 12 days - the day before our scheduled flight back to Denver. The next day, our landlady in Belfast rescued us by arranging local transportation to Belfast ($200) and locating a Enterprise rental car in Belfast (at $1,900: $1,100 more that the prepaid Turo reservation). So, by spending an extra $1,600 and wasting one day of our vacation, we were able to recover from Turo’s thoughtless and irresponsible actions.

Turo left us stranded in Albuquerque New Mexico for 3 days during the Balloon Fiesta. Over 800,000 people go there for the 2 week event. There are no rental cars available, hotel rooms are hard to find and everything costs at least twice the regular price. We paid about $900 to rent a car for 4 days. The car was $150 day for a 2015 Kia. When we arrived at the airport our “Host” texted that he couldn’t provide the car, so he gave us a replacement. We were told a story about “lost keys”. He told us he would swap the cars the next day. Instead of swapping cars the next day he texted that he couldn’t provide the car. But he needed the replacement back. He took the replacement car and did not leave us a car. We never saw the car we had paid to rent. He literally took the only car we had In a town where no other rental cars were available. We contacted Turo and they did not replace the car. They said “sorry we can’t find another one” because there were NO rental cars available during the festival. Turo refunded the cost for the 3 days without a car. The cost after the airport drop-off fee, Turo fees, and insurance. We paid around $600 for a replacement car for one day. We had the car 1 of 4 days but paid 2/3 of the price.

This company is absolute GARBAGE. they are scammers, and that is it. Their customer service reps are in a foreign country. They don't give a darn about you . I attempted to book a trip, and used the wrong card. No biggie, I got a text saying it didn't go through and I had 4 hours to update the info. Okay. Within 1 hour I updated the card and was about to hit pay- except the price had increased nearly $200! After dealing with their garbage csr , I was told they can't change the trip fee and that it was all done automatically by the system and that I should just eat that extra $200 fee. They could not justify why it went up, they couldn't explain what that 4 hour window was supposed to do because it sure as hell didn't lock in the rate- and they are overall just a worthless company. I decided, $500 for a scion for a week was too much, went to car rental8 and got a much nicer kia for 230!!! For 1 week and a day! Way better deal!!! Deleted my turo account, and will forever warn people against them!

I rented a car from Turo for 4 days. Before returning the car the car was cleaned and vacuumed out. About a half and hour after the car was returned I noticed they try to charge my card an additional $150. Luckily my card was locked. I then noticed they had sent me an email from The Host trying to charge $150 smoking fee. He included three pictures of specs of dirt or something in the cup holder. And that was proof enough for them to say that someone was smoking in the car. No one ever smoked anything inside that vehicle!! Upon reading their policy it's stated in highlighted that there has to be proof that someone actually smoked and lit a cigarette or cannabis inside the vehicle. Which no one ever did!! I have a smoker so I did have cigarettes. But nothing was ever lit inside that vehicle!! For the simple fact that I knew they would try to charge $150 cleaning fee. Nowhere does it stay in their policy that you aren't allowed to have tobacco products on you. Just that you aren't allowed to smoke. Which is fine and acceptable. Two room is a scam and I guess their host start too!!
