I am a host. Guest had a blow out in a different state. She decided she wanted to cancel which is fine, but turo needed to return my car to me. I called in to their support to ask where my car was. They could not get through to their roadside assistance so told me I needed to call roadside assistance. I asked how I would get through if they, working for the same company, could not get through. Guy couldn’t answer so I asked to speak to a supervisor. He said one wasn’t available and hung up on me. Call roadside assistance and wait 53 minutes. Get the poor guy on the oh one and ask him where my car is and he can’t tell me. Best he could do was tell me the car was safe. I asked what tow company or storage yard it was at, and he could not answer. I asked to speak to his management and he said they would have to call me back, but had no idea if that would happen within 24 hours. Basically my car is missing and no one at turo knows how to support me. Tbh I feel like they don’t want or help me. WORST COMPANY EVER. I rent my car for 35 a day so it is affordable. They take 25% of that sonó get 26.25 a day. They turn around and charge guests $50 plus a day depending on trip length. This is all supposedly for the assurance and insurance. Meanwhile they can’t find my car and will not cover any of the expenses.

They ripped me off for $136. They emailed me telling me they were going to credit this to my account and then didnt and said they can do a $50 credit when I don't live in the country.. I had email communication from them telling me it is going to be credited and they are trying to say they can't.. stay away from these people

Horrendous experience. I rented a 2021 Buick envision in Tampa and the host charged me $250 for smoking when I have never smoked in my life. He then went on to state he was turning in my request as harassment because I requested a refund. I couldn’t get a hold of turo as they are near impossible to call and don’t have an email. I will never rent from turo again.

TURO has rental car companies that use its platform to rent their cars- good idea but they are SCAMMING THE SYSTEM and seems like Turo is compliant. I rented a car for 1 day. Walked around it and saw no issues when i picked it up. Never had any collision or encounter during the time. Took pictures of all sides when dropping if off. Then a few days later got a Damage Claim for $1200- SEE TH TURO PICTURE WITH GREEN BOX there is literally no damage- maybe some feather scratches but hard to tell due to glare. i have asked repeatedly for before pictures to compare but they refuse to send. All the emails just say "put it on your insurance" to cover cost- well that makes my insurance go up plus $500 deductible. I finally (after hours of searching and calling) got a rep on the phone. He immediately agreed when he saw the photos and said he would resubmit and get this taken care of. 2 days later got a "form" email saying damage claim dept has confirmed damage- the Green box is the $1200 damage. I have seen many other posts on this so not isolated.....RENT FROM REAL CAR RENTAL COMPANY- They would NEVER pull this SCAM!!!

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Don't count on Turo's help when things go wrong. I attempted to extend a rental that was plagued with issues (that I resolved on my own with the host). Flat tyre, tyre replacement, subsequent NEW flat tyre, presumed valve issues at this point. For whatever reason, the extension request didn’t go through properly on the app and when I contacted support in the morning to arrange the extension with them, I was informed that I would need to make a BRAND NEW RESERVATION on Turo for the car. This was now going to cost me £330, instead of the £204 quoted to me for the extension I attempted to make the day before, in addition to a NEW DEPOSIT of £250, while they continued to hold my existing £250 deposit. I informed them I would find an alternative solution to making a new booking through them. Turo support then proceeded to send me threatening emails about contacting local police and keeping all of my deposit if I didn’t either return the vehicle immediately (?!) to the host, or make the new booking with them “within the hour”. They then proceeded to take an additional £79.17 payment for the “late return” (which I doubt the host will see a penny of), despite my being in communication with my very friendly host who was aware of our situation at every point on the trip. Still no sign of my deposit being returned. Being ill and travelling this week has been incredibly stressful, in addition to being a very expensive holiday week. You guys have really been the icing on the cake. Will AVOID in future.

I’ve had good experiences with the hosts and the vehicles. My issue and it’s a big one is the pricing. The taxes, trip fees, insurance it adds a minimum of 90- 100% or more of the actual rental price. A 2015 S class Mercedes for. Few days was $427 BUT after taxes, trip fees and insurance it was over $1200!!! Range Rover sport $1203 for the rental after all said and done $2250! It’s absurd the fee structure. LOOK AT THE PICS.

This is real review. The 2 right Side tires had 2" chunks of the sidewall missing and damage to the rim. Owner said it was safe to drive I took it to a tire place and they said don't drive it is too dangerous the owner gave me a hard time and Turo also made it difficult for me to get my money back and did not treat me as though I was telling the truth how outrageous. This is a buyer beware company and you are on your own.

THE WORST COMPANY TO RENT FROM!! The banned my account for a smoking violation that was never even violated! I went on a trip with my 6 month old and when I returned the car they tried ti say I violated a smoking policy based off the picture of my daughters rice cereal that was spilt on the floor. RICE CEREAL! And they are so money hungry that after I’ve even talked to them and told them the facts they still wouldn’t change their mind. Literally the worst to rent from. They will ban you for no reason. Tell me who is gonna smoke when I don’t? Damn sure not my 6 month old!!

Horrible awful,worst trip of my life. The was ignorant. I ended up stranded due to my turo rental, slept outside in the cold for 2 nights,was in dangerous situations and no one cared at all. I called turo over an over to get help. I even had a mechanic call them. He told them the fiat was not safe for me to drive. We still got no help. Turo customer service are foreign and act like robots with no emotion. That's exactly why they act like they do not care what is going on with your car

Turo is a company that doesn't respond in a timely fashion. The customer service is terrible. When a person has been falsely charged or have had a host that has been unprofessional and very malicious to the point of planting false evidence to gain money because a guest reported the car wasn't clean or as the picture in listing. Turo will restrict the Guest that is spending money without property contacting them. They will not respond to you and will have the "Live chat" that is ineffective and reading a script giving false apologies that Don't solve the problem. If you provide documentation proving your case they still will not do anything. They will even charge you without knowledge or properly investigating. This platform disappointed me and they just want Money. If it was TRULY about helping and making ride sharing easier. They would invest more in customer service and handle cases quickly and properly. Just want you money beware you could get a Host from hell tell turo and they will do nothing!

I used Turo once and I never will again. I was looking at rental cars vs. Turo, and the rental cars were just slightly more expensive (by about $25) so I decided to try Turo. I went on a road trip, and it turned out that one tire had previously been worn down to a point there was no tread left, and it was leaking air. So I then had to spend half a day of my trip at the mechanic shop getting the tire replaced. The car owner paid me back for that cost, it was their suggestion to use Paypal, which I had not realized was against Turo policy. I would have let it go, but then when I returned the car, the owner messaged me trying to accuse me of causing various damages to the car that had already been there. Thankfully, I had pictures to prove they had already been there, but if I hadn't I'm sure they'd have tried to charge me. I sent the owner money to cover tolls through Cashapp (also at their request). Two months later, I get billed for the full cost of the tolls through the Turo app. When I went to their customer service and sent evidence of the issues with the car and the fact that I had already paid the tolls, they said since it was sent outside of the app it did not matter and I'd be billed for it. Not only that, but my account was now going to be monitored to ensure I did not send other transactions outside of the app (with no recognition of the fact that the car owner is the one who suggested doing so). I highly recommend going with a car rental company instead, it would have saved me significant time and this entire customer service nightmare.

It’s a scam. SCAM SCAM They don’t vet their hosts. I have been accused of smoking with pictures taken of ashes in the car. I don’t smoke. I have been terminated from Turo therefore I can’t retrieve any of my pictures or correspondence with the host. I sent in the pictures that I took before I dropped it off of a clean car. They took my money and I can’t get in touch with anyone. If it were a fender bender I was accused of with a scratch or dent I could possibly go along with it, however it’s smoking and I was the only one in the car and don’t smoke. The fact the host turned in pictures of an ash filled cup holder and console is suspicious and reeks of a scam. Please protect yourself and don’t use this company.

When Turo started it was a great idea and app. Independant people renting their private vehicle in much the same way that Air BnB host rent their homes. However, in the past two years Turo has become overrun with illegitimate rental car companies looking to get around the licensing and insurance requirements that a conventional car rental company would require. This has caused a wave of poor service, run down vehicles, and scammer characters looking to extort money any way possible. Beware of damage claims and the notorious smoking fee (which there is no way to dispute in Turo). In many ways this is the same progression that has occurred with Air BnB as the platform has switched from independent owners to now mostly small rental property businesses using Air BnB as a marketing tool. After having several shady encounters with 'Hosts' on Turo, I was about to deactivate my account but decided to give one more chance (which was a bad idea). On my last trip, I noticed a funny smell in the car as soon as I sat inside. However, since the host was 'out of town' and had to have their 'friend' leave the car unlocked in the parking lot, I could not express this to them in person. So instead I immediately wrote a message to the host stating that I noticed a smell in the vehicle before even leaving the parking lot. At the end of the trip the host again was not able to meet and had me leave the car unlocked in the parking garage. The next day I received a bill from Turo for a smoking fee. I am not a smoker, and have never smoked in any car, and have over 35+ turo trips with no issues. When I informed Turo of the original smell in the car and my message to the host, Turo did not care and dismissed my dispute without even looking into the communications. After trying on the website to reach a Turo customer service agent to talk to about the situation, I gave up and now going to delete my account forever. Considering the variability of hosts these days and the poor customer service from Turo, I would highly recommend you stay away from the company and the platform.

SEE PICTURES- They have companies that use their platform to rent cars. I picked up in parking lot at airport THT Houston (DONT USE) - walked around car and no damage. Dropped off same place- had no issues was short 24 hour trip. Took picks per instructions. Had no issues/incidents - then received bill for $1200. They sent pics that zoomed in on high resolution pictures maybe showed some “feather” scratched- see attached. I can Understand the company trying to scam me but spent hours finding a Turo rep and they agreed did not make sense and would have Turo review the claim again. A week later got email saying yes I owed - crazy. Never rent from Turo- can get $1200 bill even if no issues

Rented a car that broke down even though things didn’t seem right and the Host assured us what we experienced was normal behavior for the car. Turo basically told us to walk 14 miles to the nearest town when the car died in the desert. Then, they couldn’t find a replacement within hours of where we were. We incurred almost $400 in taxi fees getting to the replacement. THEN we were up charged $200 for an extended drop off fee. Now, due to a car we found through Turo, we are out almost $600 in additional fees and Turo customer service has ghosted us. Give yourself peace of mind, rent a car from a big chain…they may cost a little more but we’re now paying double what we would have AND lost an entire day of vacation being stranded.

Very disappointed in this service I tried as an alternative for the usual rental companies :( Upon arrival after a long day driving the car did not start as a result of a dead battery; In the end we found the battery had to be replaced by the dealer; As the owner was not reachable we decided to pay the bill as we had to continue our trip. In the end both the owner as well as Turo were not willing to cover that repair bill !! Besides these costs we lost a full day of our holiday not to mention the many phone call and frustration. We will never use this Turo service anymore;

DON’T USE TURO! We rented a Turo to go out to the middle of nowhere for a wedding. Driving 70mph down the highway the engine light came on and we couldn’t get past 1st gear. WE WERE ON THE WAY TO THE WEDDING!! We had to call an Uber and beg them to pick us up on the side of the road. WE WERE LATE AND MISSED PART OF THE CEREMONY!!!!! The Uber cost us 85 dollars and to get back to the hotel we had to get a ride from the photographer at the wedding. The hotel was over 2 hours away and our Uber back cost us 200 dollars. We have spent countless hours on the phone speaking with Turo representatives who have failed to recoup any of these costs associated with the engine failure are even threatening to charge US for towing the car. We had the car for 24 hours and the car had over 100,000 miles. There has been no acknowledgement of the extremely dangerous and inconvenient situation we were placed in. The host did nothing to help the situation and the towing companies called us four different times despite relaying the information to Turo. TURO IS ABSOLUTE A HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH NO QUALITY CONTROL! Your car could break down at any moment and TURO WILL DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO ASSIST!! No replacement car, no covering of extremely expensive Uber rides. Just a huge headache and a huge cost! Go to a reputable rental car company NOT TURO!
