I have been a 5 star host on Turo since June 2021. I have gone above and beyond for guests. Turo takes absolute advantage of hosts and constantly change policies and host requirements. Hosts are left paying several non-reimbursable costs and do not make their fair share of splitting payments. They complete “random audits” and will require you to change your listing, even if it puts the host at risk for liability. Hosts aren’t allowed to have any say in what they are or aren’t comfortable with guests doing with their car - if you decline a trip, your rating goes down. I will never host on Turo, rent on Turo, or recommend it to anyone I know. Stay away from this scam of a company.

I booked a car over 3 months ago, the guy cancelled while I was on the plane and was left stranded at Luton Airport alone at 3am. I have been charged in full, been unable to book another car, unable to get hold of anyone from customer service via the terrible chatbot, trying to call, and even reaching out to team representatives on LinkedIn. From what I can tell this is SCAM!! DO NOT BOOK WITH TURO

On my trip in a Turo rental, three of the four tires failed. I looked closely at the third, and it was a passenger car tire rated for a max load of 1929 pounds... on a Ford Transit 350 XLT, which weighs 10,000 pounds unloaded and comes from the factory with light truck tires. I payed for the first two tires to be replaced being assured by the owner that I would be reimbursed, and I used the spare on the third. It took Turo over two months to get back to me after telling me they were going to seriously look into the situation for potential action against the owner. Their communication at that point was to tell me that I was not liable to pay for any damages to the vehicle and that they were closing the case. I responded that they owed me over $400 for the repairs I did to the vehicle, and it took them another two weeks to issue that refund. With at least that resolved, I went in to review my trip, and was locked out. Either the organization is very incompetent, or they purposefully drag out cases that could potentially result in bad reviews for their owners beyond the period of time they have arbitrarily set as the review period. The owner of the vehicle in question still has a five-star rating, and Turo customer service refused to open up the option for me to review my experience. Unlike other rental companies, I am convinced Turo cannot effectively regulate the upkeep of fleets of cars owned by private individuals. As such, finding your drive with Turo may mean finding your last drive ever.

2 cancellations by host. 1st was over a month from trip date. The second was less than 24 hrs notice in Juneau. Came in on cruise ship and checked my messages to find out where to get the car and had a text. Joemilo decided he had better things to do than hold up his end of the agreement.

Terrible Customer Service - had a broken unusable car. The host removed my bad review and I was autocharged on my credit card without consent. Customer service responses are AI generated and on the phone you get put on hold for hours.

As a host, the protection is abysmal. They squeeze every last penny out of the hosts while giving as little protection as possible. Their system malfunctioned and failed to charge the correct amount to the customer for my car, promised me that they would reimburse me for the difference and then went back on their word because of ‘company policy’. Would never go near their platform again. Failure and unprofessionalism at its finest.

Turo is the worst! They charge for everything and make policies as they go. Charge my card without me know for 130. For a policy I knew nothing about and I did not sign for it.

Their policy makes no sense personally and a way to set you up. Or it’s something to do with booking a car that’s not even available but you don’t find out until after you pick up time …. Or they’re emergency services not showing up when you’re stranded on road side. I use to hype up this company but I’ll never let anything good come out my mouth about them again. Ridiculous

We rented a Rolls Royce from Jesus. Upon return, Jesus checked car out, everything was fine. Next thing you know we get a damage report submitted with pics that were so blatantly not how we gave car back. Clearly, Jesus wanted a new paint job. We submitted a reply on the Turo app And waited a couple weeks for A response. There was no reply so we called and they said they sent an email saying to reply with additional info . We asked what email and gave the one that is on the app and they stated wasn’t it. We’ve tried to call 6 separate times to get resolution with no one knowing what to do and promising call Backs that never happen. Not sure what other info would be needed when we stated facts and provided proof with pictures and texts. Jesus got $2k for rental and we lost our $500 Deposit for nothing- we used Turo many times but never once thought there would be someone so outright shady to try to come up off us. We will never use this app again

They left us STRANDED in the middle of nowhere. We hired a car through Turo going on a 5hr journey. Long story short 2hrs into our journey we had a flat due to a split alloy that was already there, not the owners fault as it wouldn’t have been noticed until you removed the tyre. Turo arranged for someone to pick up the car but left us stranded in a small town, without offering another vehicle or any support. Instead they would reimburse up to £50 in travel expenses. With no taxi companies, multiple suitcases and a train alone would cost £97 each. AVOID AT ALL COST. We managed to find an enterprise who luckily had a car available to take away immediately.

My continued BAD experience with planning my Alaska/Aurora Borealis trip in November, I do NOT recommend Turo Auto Rental Services! Has NOT been easy or helpful, VERY FRUSTRATING, ANNOYING, with each call, I get a different person/different answers (whether they are working from HOME -hearing children voices, etc.) every time I tried to call on concerns. Nearly impossible to talk with legitimate management. ...spoke with a Noreen, Guiliana (?), Stephanie. A "Josh" called, left last message. The HOST (very polite (appears/sounds like he's on the road a lot/out of town) does communicate with me, telling me he's going to do everything in his power to make sure I have a smooth pickup/rental transition. BUT, I MUST go through Turo...THEIR website/APP. This is where the headaches started. I have an older phone/iPhone, I could NOT load their APP I was being told needed to load. I showed/explained to them/other people. MY iPhone 6 Plus will NOT load it. Two of their phone Reps told me, "It will be ok, just have Internet access to "check in", etc." I tried finding their APP on my other Android phone, NOPE, not finding it. Delta emailed me, advised me my particular flight was CANCELLED. I was forced to change my Turo Auto Rental. I used my trusty desktop computer, go on their website (NOT just notify the Host, oh no). THEY make you deal with them...THEIR OK...sends the change to the HOST, who decided to approve it! BUT, then, I get an email, updated Invoice...where THEY tried to charge a little more on the daily rental price (WHY?). I called again, different person, explained it was NOT MY Fault...I was NOT paying ANYMORE extra, having my PAID receipt for SAME amount of days. HOST has NO issue with this. It is ALL Turo...THIRD-Party strangers allowed to control (out in California!). I received a voice message (a FOREIGN voice) stating HE/THEY need "documentation" of my flight being cancelled. I don't believe I need to do this. No Strange Third-Party I have no knowledge of...going to charge their "extra little fee" for what Delta cancelling/changing my flight. NO. I looked at the new email invoice receipt. It was ZERO balance due to the "discounts were adjusted for THEIR little daily increase they were sneaking in. Can NOT TRUST these darn companies. I called my credit card company, advised them what happened, will NOT pay Turo any more money...if they try to charge me for anything else. They noted it in my account, along with me taking this trip...to watch for any more transactions from them. They asked if I wanted a new card/number, but I fear Turo will try to cancel the rental...even with the Host saying I'm ok with him...Auto Renters....Beware of Turo Rental service. Their Customer Service is horrible...look up their reviews...

Thats insane. I picked up the car at 4 PM on Saturday. The location said that i can drop my car at my own risk. When i went there they didnot allow me park. So I lost around 4 hours in finding a closest car parking and paid around 40$. You have sent me a bill of 700 $ so far for a rental 18 hours . Insanely high cost with very bad customer experience.

The vehicle broke down at 11:30 pm, stranding my family overnight. I had to pay for a hotel, towing, taxi, and repair, over $1000. Nothing will be reimbursed. The host ghosted me, and customer service won’t do anything. Complete scam!

My experience with Turo was nothing short of a nightmare. After spending hours until 2 am discussing my issue with their customer agent, they failed to resolve the problem that stemmed from their own errors. When the issue was finally addressed in the morning, the price had skyrocketed due to changes made by Turo, not the host. Despite providing screenshots of my conversation with the customer agent, Turo arrogantly brushed off my request for them to cover the price difference caused by their mistakes. Their smirking indifference and lack of accountability were beyond frustrating. This entire ordeal has left me utterly disappointed, and I have already uninstalled the app. My trust in Turo is shattered, and I will never consider using their service again. One star is generous given the awful and negative experience I endured.

Scam artists.. my family came from Egypt and rented through TURO.... DO NOT RENT FROM these con artists... the car ac did not work so they came to change it, then the seatbelt sensor would not stop ringing on the new car, total nuisance. Then they charged them an additional $530, just because they had their credit card info - hours on the phone arguing to get the money back. They finally relented and agreed they charged by mistake! Total thieves - DO NOT WASTE you time and energy on this scam company. The WORST company. Dishonest and terrible customer services. Stick with the major rental car companies -

Absolutely appalled by the service from the Turo team. I tried to book a trip after my account had been verified and I had already taken 3 trips in the past month but Turo cancelled the trip with no explanation at all!! Getting in touch with a real customer service person and not a bot was a pain and when I finally did speak to someone they were not helpful at all and just kept repeating the same three sentences. My account was banned 2 hours later for absolutely no reason and no way to even appeal it! In their terms it says that if a policy has been violated, the account will be banned and the person would be notified on what the reason was - none of this was done! This is absolutely frustrating and I would urge everyone to not use Turo. Waste of time and money.

HIRER BEWARE they will try to take you for as much as they can. I hired a car in the US for 1 week. The host was really great and the car was wonderful. Near the end of the trip I reversed into a stone wall at a very slow speed which caused some very small scratches. I went through the proper steps and was fully co-operative throughout. Within 1 day of my report Turo took $500 from my account as a repair deposit, and then a couple of days later told me that the cost of the repairs would be $1,300 which I thought was over the top but I didn't contest it. When they notified me of the full amount they offered the choice of payment through a payment plan, and I immediately responded to say I was interested in this option, but was then told the time had lapsed and that the final payment was already processed and had left my account. I was very annoyed that the payment had been processed without notice as my trip in the US was costly and at the time I would have much preferred paying the costs over time. I contacted Turo but after several emails back and forth I had no choice but to accept the situation. Almost a month passed and I receive another notification of ANOTHER CHARGE of over $1,000 (began with an additional charge of $1600+ but somehow mysteriously dropped to almost $1100 after I sent them a strongly worded email) for "hidden damage" for "damages that were identified when doing a tear-down of the vehicle to guarantee the safety of it". The damage was minimal, a couple of superficial scrapes, and repairs did not require a tear down and I am absolutely certain (because of the speed I was travelling, the lack of dents etc;) that there were no "hidden damages". This company is brazenly out to take as much of your hard earned money as they can, and I would strongly suggest hiring ANYWHERE else.

Scam. Rented a car that had pre-existing damage to a rim clearly visible on pre departure photos. Charged for $1200 to replace rim as they claim that one scratch was new. Never damaged it, and even if did $1200 is complete fraud for one scratch.
