I have dealt with this company for the last 3 years. They have always been erratic in their service and delivery. It is very rare that the plants and bulbs are in good condition on arrival, if they arrive at all and they never get delivered on time. delivery is either too early or too late. They use post office for delivery which is not track able and the plants get damaged in transit. Most of the plants are either dying or dead on arrival. Recently I ordered some bare root roses from them and found them virtually lifeless. I telephoned them to ask for a replacement for one of them and, lo and behold, was told to provide a photographic evidence of the condition of the plant.I found it outrageous and cancelled outstanding orders with them. Needless to say that I shall never use this company again nor I would recommend it to my friends and family.

sadly much the same as other ratings on this company! ordered 2 bare root roses, in all fairness they did post in good time and well packaged ,but the quality of the plants was at best very poor steams 4 on 1 and 3 on the other most of which are broken or dead! roots dry and look like they have been out off the ground for a long time , even after 24 hours in water , 1 small growth bub on each rose ,when I rang to discuss ,was told that's how they come THEY ARE BARE ROOT! the roses in the pound shop (bare root ) look better!! will not ever buy from them again , customer service is pants!

I placed an order for spring flowering daffodils during early september for delivery and planting in the correct month of october,I would have thought that this was a simple transactionbut as of 13 november the daffodils have still not been delivered and my garden has become waterlogged.However they had no problem taking the money from my account 4days after the order was placed Kenneth Hirst

I have written to them, as follows: I purchased some bulbs from your Van Meuwen trading brand recently. Since then, I have been plagued by unwanted emails from newsletter@email.vanmeuwen.com. A request to your offending newsletter email to be unsubscribed was ignored. The ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of the email has been disabled and does not function. You appear to have found a way to bypass both ‘unwanted sender’ and ‘junk’ settings. Please ensure that email address xxxxx is removed from all mailing lists controlled directly or indirectly by your company and its parent, sister and daughter companies. p.s. • the Van Meuwen website contains no information as to the identity of the seller. The Contact details given for Customer Services is that of a contractor who administers orders. • The Terms and Conditions do not specify a contractor, and are accordingly unenforceable. • The invoice/receipt for the goods does not contain a registered office address as required by law. ordered 6 clematis in 7cm pots. 1st two arrived on time however on trying to plant one turned out to be a plug plant just put in a 7cm pot - it had only 4 leaves which fell off and the plant has made no progress in 2 months. No labels on the plants themselves. one never arrived - offered a collection of 3 clematis as compensation however what arrived was 3 plug plants not actual 7cm pot plants. Still waiting for the final one 3-4 weeks after promised date. Customer service very aplogetic but ineffective - requested to talk to manager - guess what - not available.

Well, after reading the bad comments (and I have one also) I would think Van Meuwen should give up or at least have a Board Meeting !! I ordered the trailing pansies for my hanging basket last year and they did not arrive, I waited several weeks and still nothing. So I rang only to be told they were out of stock and I would have to wait until March. I was very annoyed and disappointed, as you can imagine. I had to ring again in March to see where they were and was told they were STILL GROWING THE PLANTS. Eventually they arrived (squashed through the letter box). I put 5 plants into each of my 3 baskets (as instructed) and waited, and waited. The flowers have come but they are so... tiny and straggly, no way will they fill the basket profusely and even come back next year - as the catalogue states. You're having a laugh! I have had to add other plants to make the baskets pretty. I did want to email the company but have trouble in sorting that, but after reading everyone's comments - it's not worth it is it. Guess I too will not bother with this firm again. GCH Horsham W.Sussex

Order two magnolia plants in April one for my mother-in -laws birthday in May was not made aware they would not be available until November. Has a voucher for £5 so ordered two Clemantis. They were in a very poor state when received. One little stem with a few brown leave.I planted them but they nearly came away from the root ball. I live in hope they will grow but I think it will be in vain. I hope the magnolia will be of a better quality especially as one is a present!

My order appears to get delivered as and when plants in stock. Plants that have arrived so far are in varying stages - from fighting for their life - to being withered and dead. I am still awaiting the final part of my order (which was placed four weeks ago). I have tried phoning and emailing but no reply and no response. Very unhappy with plant quality and majorly disappointed with absence of customer service.

I ordered plants from Van Meuwen all of which were duly received. In fairness, the Clematis and Carnations are performing well. However, I also ordered Phlox and Alstoemeria, none of which have survived. They arrived as bare root plants which I planted as per their instructions. No sign of life appeared so I contacted them regarding the failures. It took a long period of time for them to respond to my e-mails and although they have at last offered a refund, I will still be "out of pocket" by the delivery charges, and it has taken approximately 3 months and a constant bombardment of e-mails to them from me (several of which received no replies) to arrive at this conclusion. I would strongly recommend that you do not order from this company.

As with everyone else here, ordered plants that were promised for end of March still not received anything and it's mid June. Can't get anyone on the phone and emails ignored. AVOID THIS COMPANY!

I can only agree with all other reviewers here. It took 9 weeks to deliver my order, which I sent following an ad in the Telegraph in March. Two rows of plug plants were dead, so I now no doubt face an ordeal with customer services. I shall be writing to the Telegraph advising hem that one of their advertisers is unreliable.

I placed a order on the 4th May, after seeing an advert in the Sunday Telegraph, offering IMMEDIATE DELIVERY. After a week I emailed V/M and had a reply that they were experiencing a high number of emails, but I should receive a response within a few days. Later I sent another email , and had the same automated reply, but with no other response. Yesterday I phoned, and after being on hold for over 20 minutes, was told that my order was marked for delivery late in the month. I said unless the order could be sent within the next couple of days I would cancel. I was promised a call back with whether the order could be sent in the next couple of days, and surprise, surprise no call back. What part of Immediate delivery do they not understand. What surprises me is that the Telegraph Group actually deal with such a unreliable company that makes false statements, in an attempt to gain business. Well this is one customer who I will never order from them again. If I had more time I would report them to Trading Standards for false adverts.

I ordered plants and they were prompt at cashing the cheque for £9.99 then sent a letter to say I might get the plants in Feb 14. Requests for a refund have been ignored so I have reported them to Trading Standards

Plants arrived after three and a half months and only after I asked for a refund by e-mail. They arrived half dead with next to no root. I consider I paid over the odds for these pathetic specimens. Unable to talk to anyone on the phone either. Will never use them again and would not recommend anyone else use them either. B

Like so many other reviews I've read regarding Van Meuwen I also would not recommend this company to anybody. I paid £13.94 on the 19th April and was advised that I will see my order at the end of May, they didn't arrive so I gave it a further week but still no delivery I then sent an email to them and they did respond after a couple of days saying my query will be dealt with asap, I gave them a further week but still no order but also no communication informing me of what was happening, it is now mid June. I, like so many others, will NOT deal with them again.

Pro used delivery by end May. Two weeks, two e mails and three abortive phone calls later not even a scintilla of a response. Avoid this company is my advice.

Having just had yet another conversation about my order which has not yet arrived I am no further forward. Bot only does it take ages to speak to someone then it it some smart person who tells me it is the snow that has affected the lateness of the plants and that they don't grow with hats and scarves on. They are growing them to order and seem totally inadequate to cope with varying weather condtions. The person however did tell me they had been dispatched to which I told him they hadn't arrived yet, he then informed me he wasn't the postman. I can only suggest they this company improve customer service and the process of supplying plants as I wont be recommending to anyone

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON ANYTHING VAN MEUWEN SELL STILL WAITING FOR MINE TO BE DELIVERED 3 MONTHS LATE NOW AND THEY NEVER EVER RELY TO YOUR E MAILS WASTE OF TIME
