Caught the st Claire today at 12 o clock but was 25 minutes late only to be shouted at by a Chinese looking guy when I boarded the ship, not good customer service, and don't expect to be shouted at to stay in my car, which I new anyway, the guy was rude and arrogant

Saturday 9th September was a nightmare for my outbound journey from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, ferry was booked for 13.20 but due to unforseen circumstances I arrived 30 minutes late. After finally arriving at the check in and asked what time my ferry was for I replied 13.20 at that point I was given a slip of paper with wightlink phone number on it ,I was told that I had to give them a ring to rebook ferry for another time,I tried ringing several times but couldn't get through. I was looking at my app on the phone the status had changed from not booked in too that of booked in went to see chap at another check in ,showing the app and he told me to go up the ramp and was allowed onto the 2pm ferry with more space available.

Very expensive. Changed ferry in view of terrible traffic. Huge uplift to change. Will stick to Red Funnel in future.

The ferry service is absolutely fine. But if they keep raising their prices to obscene levels, making it very difficult to visit my disabled mother when I need to. If they keep raising their prices, it will be more cost effective buy my own yacht.

We had a terrible experience on our outward journey We told that we could not travel on our booked ferry and that we would have to wait over 7 hours before we could cross (outward Journey). Apparently there was a mistake on our booking form as to the height of our caravan, the booking in attendant refused our crossing and gave us a phone number to ring, the person on the phone told us to pay the extra amount and sort it out with the booking in attendant, we paid the balance and were told to park next to the exit road from the ferry and that we would be put on the next available ferry, this was incorrect, we approached the boarding crew who told us they were aware we were waiting to board but it would be the 10.15pm ferry. During the waiting time we had damage done to our caravan by a passing scooter, a dint and a scratch, we also had an attempted break-in of our car, after being parked for over 7 hours and without power, the frozen food in our caravan was ruined. Entry to our booked caravan site closed at 8.00pm we therefore had to arrange overnight accommodation on the Isle of Wight. Driving at night made it impossible to follow the instructions to the caravan site as we could not see the landmarks indicated. This was a very stressful experience and one not to be forgotten, we were not given a reason why we could not cross on the 4.00pm ferry as booked and communication at the port was very poor. we think the very least you can do is give us a free return crossing for car and caravan plus two people next year. The return crossing went without a hitch.

We encountered a very rude man who was directing traffic on the ship who shouted at us to get in our car he then proceeded to shout at us after I told him to calm down and pointed out that my wife couldn't walk very fast due to her disability and I said to hang on a moment after we got into our car the man kept staring at us and giving us dirty looks we couldn't believe the attitude of this man and it spoiled our whole experience of what was our first time sailing with Wight link.

Expensive and ruined my Christmas and my 2 1/2 year old Christmas going to see her nanny Christmas Eve!! Because I’d pre booked tickets but at NO point did it say when the last ferry was to fishbourne!! So I had a long drive home to surrey with a disappointed little girl and had to use red funnel Christmas Day So no star rating from me

Hello Allistair Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you experienced problems when travelling over Christmas. Your pre-booked tickets would have been for a specific time. I'm not certain from your message whether you booked online or through our contact centre. If you rang us and we failed to advise you of the last sailing, I can only apologise.

On our way home from Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight last Wednesday 28th Sept', we were booked on the 10 past 8 sailing, at 4pm were sent an Email to say that that sailing was cancelled and that they had put us on the 10 to 10 pm sailing instead. I have a disabled wife and this wasn't acceptable so we tipped up at Yarmouth at 1/2 Hr before the 8 - 10 ferry only to find that it was running and that the 7pm sailing had been cancelled instead ! We had booked a space next to the lift as my wife cannot cope with stairs being disabled weeks in advance, but when summoned to go on board were put at the front of the vessel about 4 spaces from the lift and as it was raining the deck was very slippery for my wife with her sticks to cope with. Of course too late to reverse back to the lift space as there were then 4 other cars parked behind me ! All in all very unsatisfactory especially for "Disabled Passengers" especially as the passage and lift space had been booked weeks in advance !!! Then what about the BOGUS Email that we were sent on the afternoon of our sailing - again "Why can't Wightlink get there act together". So Disabled Passengers beware !!!!!!

I've travelled with Wightlink for years and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately since we last travelled everything has changed. There is now a dog section that is basically like walking into a dog shelter - dogs going crazy at each other, barking and owners allowing them to urinate everywhere. The smell was appalling. Gone were the booths, replaced by cheap plastic chairs and tables that vibrate so much that you feel sick by the end of the journey. The whole experience was hugely disappointing. It was one of my son's favourite things to do and even he said that he hated it and couldn't wait to get off. What a shame.

I travelled with Wightlink recently and although the journey to the Isle of Wight was very good that was soon forgotten following my return journey. Although I was booked on an 8pm ferry and arrived in good time I was unable to board because it had been overbooked and had to wait for the 9pm ferry. This in fact did not leave until 9.20. The ship had been refurbished and had nice table and chairs on the deck where the food and drinks were being served and there was a children's play area. Although signs on board said dogs should be on the deck above this was not the case and there were numerous dogs on the deck with the food and drink and children and not a single member of staff around to put them right. The journey was horrendous with dogs barking at people and each other and there was no carpet on the floor to absorb this noise. I have not travelled with Wightlink for some time and it will be a long time before I travel with them again.

Of our last 6 crossings 4 have been changed at short notice including one giving our notice to our home when we were on the island. Wightlink's answer to our situation- offer a refund - we were on the island & had to get home!! Latest outward crossing was changed then delayed - no info given when we checked in - information board not working. The service by this Company is dreadful. Do they realise people book sailing times for a reason. We don't want refunds we want a reliable service for the times we book.

WightLink changed our booking twice and then a further delay of 40 minutes. Granted they let you know, when we were already on our way! Then the staff at Portsmouth were not the most helpful, maybe they were just weary from a delayed filled day. Lastly funny how they managed to keep delays under the 1 hour mark to avoid people claiming. Very poor, but everyone was in agreement that both companies that have control of the crossings are run purely for profit with very poor customer attitude and why should we care we have the monopoly.
