“we purchased a 7.5’ tall tree. Received it timely. Put it up last Christmas ,only to find that section #2 lights were completely out. We called and the contact person was very nice and said they would replace the section - IN THE SUMMERTIME, In the meantime, they sent us a LONG string of lights for us to put on the tree. there were too many, so we had to go out and buy several shorter strings. In August, we received the new replacement of section #2. we put the tree up last Sunday and low and behold, half of the second new string did not work, and, part of the third section was out! This has been such a pain in the neck. I would NOT recommend anyone buying this tree. For the very expensive price, It is NOT worth the aggregation! a bunch of lights”

“Yet another disappointed customer! We bought our tree 3 or 4 years ago. It cost something like $1200. The lights are very unevenly distributed, with a lot of them on the top and bottom sections, while the middle section is sparse, making the tree look cheap and silly. We also bought a $99 tree topper that did not arrive until our tree was set up and decorated. So we saved it for the next Christmas, only to find that the light inside the rotating star came on for about a second, never to light up again. Of course customer service was no help at all. We wound up throwing the tree topper away—-what a waste. I’d never buy anything from this company again.”

“Last year i bought a 6’5” tree for $349 on sale. This year, same tree is $379 on sale. Nice tree but the sale price is the real price. Anyone who pays “full” price is foolish with money.”

“I purchased a 9 foot tree a few years ago and the lights have already gone out. I spend a lot of money on the tree and it didn't last long. Would never buy from Balsam hill again”

“BUYER BEWARE - - DO NOT SHOP AT BALSAM HILL! I purchased over $4,000 of xmas decorations/tree a few months ago and when I went to set things up, one of the items had lights that did not turn on. When I called to get help on this matter, they told me that the warranty was expired (bought 2-3 months) and there wasn't anything they could do. I had no words and was completely shocked by the way they treated me as a customer who spent a lot of money with their business.”

“Not worth the money. Light don’t work half the time. Last 3 year had to work on lights this year lights no longer work. Customer service said buy a new tree. $ 1400 you would think it would last longer than four years.”

“This tree is not what I thought. Very expensive for what it is. I don't know how any amount of 'fluffing' is going to get this tree to hide the pole and all the wires. Very disappointed. Also, you're led to believe on their website you can make payments through PayPal, when in fact you can't unless you apply for and get approved for PayPal's credit line. Deceptive. Looks like we're stuck with it unless we want to pay a lot to send it back. Definitely DON'T recommend this to anyone.”

“December of 2020 , we purchase 3 x 10 foot strands of battery powered LED prelit Fraser Fir garland for about $175plus per strand. The garland itself is a very high quality and beautiful. Each strand has 2 light strings powered by 2 seperate battery packs each using 4 AA batterys. This year 2 of the strands each have 1 string that will NOT light up. I called Balsm Fir and was told the guarantee on these garland was 30 days, and they could do nothing for us, and they had no idea what was wrong with them. The rep told me that some people ( other saps who spent mucho$$$ ) simply restring the strand with their own lights.$500-$600 for prelit Garland that lasts about 3 years is a rip off.Unless you want high quality garland with lights that will stop working in 3/4 years go some where else. poor value”

“They all have the most unresponsive customer service I’ve ever encountered. Completely inflexible to satisfy the customer or make any adjustments. They keep you on the phone for upwards of 30 minutes with no satisfaction provided. I would never use this again.”

“Bought a tree in 2017 and have treated it with kid gloves. Now half the lights don’t work and I have zero idea where the issue is. Tiny fuses in every plug, just better off tossing it and moving on. Garbage product.”

“Christmas tree lights would not come on in one section of the tree. The agent mumbled and was hard to understand, I still don’t know his name. He did not listen or understand the product well enough to help. My problem was not resolved, I had to look up and tell him that it was a resistor box on the LED lights that was going out. My lights would not come on but if I moved the box they would flash on. This a tree I purchased in 2019 and have only used twice. Then he was condescending, when I asked if there was a resolution he laughed and said buy a new tree, no offer of a discount or apology about a faulty electrical system; LED lights that last 100,000 hours are no good if the resistors give our after 20 hours of use. Worsted experience with a company ever.”

“I brought a tree 4 years ago and it's a 10 ft tree the Cheap Plastic connecting the Top and Bottom of tree Broke. I called Over a Year ago and made a complaint First they were going to send a new tree because that part is not available to be sold than I got a email They had no more Tree they were Sold Out AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM”

“I paid $900 for a skinny tree (don’t remember name) that in my estimation did not have enough branches to cover the tree. Would not buy a Balsam Hill tree again. Overpriced and not full at all.”

“Bought a 9 foot tree with lights already on the tree. Every year more lights do not work. Customer service doesn’t have records after four years to even find my order to help get replacement parts. Over a $1,000 waisted. I would never recommend a tree from them.”

“I am not a hard customer, I do not write bad reviews...but I think before you make this huge purchase you think about it. NO tree topper light plug so you are stuck running the plug through your tree. It required hours of fluffing. I don't find it ANY better than my 450 dollar tree in the other room and it is 2500. It does look really nice, but not better. Customer service, after sale is call center quality and knows nothing about the trees and are reading off the screen. My cc rep couldn't read it correctly. Beware that they have a policy that you can not return for any reason after 6 months. Is this a highend experience...no. good marketing, don't get fooled.”

“Just a warning: I got scammed by the Balsam Hill company. I bought a tree on sale for $1800.00 and less than a year later, most of the lights went out. They gave me a very hard time about replacing it and even suggested that I go to Home Depot and buy more lights to put on there. Finally I got them to replace it but they wanted the original tree back. My poor husband and I had to wrestle a 9 ft tree into 2 refrigerator boxes and return. They then sent me a replacement tree that was $300.00 cheaper because mine was out of stock. The new tree lights lasted 1 year again! That time when I called they said “we don’t warranty replacements.” So in other words, they replaced my defective tree, with another defective tree. Their customer service is horrible. I would never buy anything from them again. We thought we were investing in a tree to last for many years. Not the case. This year we are going to cut all of the lights off and restring. We have to try to get our moneys worth. For 2 older people, this is very difficult work. Very sad that they do not stand behind their products.#balsamhill”

“I would give Balsam Hill a zero if that was an option. We bought this expensive tree and the lights went out the first year. After arguing and fighting to have the warranty honored the new tree lights went out as well. We were told there would not be another replacement. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!”

“We spent a little extra on the balsam hill tree was great for 3 years then after that nothing worked. Weird how the warranty is only for three years. Get a cheap tree and buy one every three years for the price you pay for this tree. Customer service is ok however Steven was as helpful as 2 legged horse .”

“Purchased a 9' California Baby redwood tree, rolling stand and storage bag late 2022. In January 2023 when putting away, found the bag they said to get did not fit. Told me, they would replace but backordered-all this year. Just off the phone for a third time and told- sorry no bag as it was only under warranty for 30 days (that would mean I would have had to know it didnt fit "before I tried it" All the running email traffic inquiring was simply soon, soon. Just off the phone and told sorry too long, and besides the rolling bag doesnt fit the baby redwood rtree (which was never told to me nor shown in any advertisement. If I could rate "0" I would”
