“Had a great afternoon in difficult times at your cuthbert and brodrick pub, Leeds, made better by the staff, particularly Sam on meet duty, Ollie very helpful also, thank you.”
“Just been to local wetherspoons for 1st time since lockdown, had read online about what they were doing to combat the virus including extra staff and more table cleaning. Whilst I found the seating arrangements very satisfactory there was no one at the door allowing us in and during the hour we were there very little clearing or cleaning of table was carried out. I asked one of the staff about it and was told that because of the virus they could not have as many staff working????? and they were doing their best. My point is why put out all the things they are going to do to get customers back and then not do some of them.”
“My partner and I went into you’re guildford branch on Tuesday for the steak deal we were told that we couldn’t have the steak on the discount government scheme and were told we would have to pay more money for the o her steak the steak was rubbish cheap rubbish tasted like liver and had been reheated so at the end we told the waitress and she said yea everyone’s saying the same so stop ripping people off and being greedy and start serving the steaks you’re supposed to on the government scheme instead of lining you’re pockets and serving rubbish steak it wasn’t even worth the money we paid for it.”
“Absolutely disgusting and rude staff. I talked for the staff of "The Ice Wharf" in Camden,London. I been last Sunday with two of my friends to celebrate my name's day.I had bad luck to order my food and wine to one of the staff-black pretty girl. During the my order I ask her something about the food and drink and I didn't understand why she started to do complain for my question. She give me some lecture how I must asked her.It was totally suppressed me.I didn't see anything and continue to my order. I paid and waiting for my bill. She look at me like animal and asked me what I want.I told her "I waiting for my bill "and she started to shout to me rudely"You must to see "please ".I can't explain how I feel. I not going to see her "please ".She was rude and irresponsible . I feel like stupid, because I paid for her salary and she's ....I never will back again in some of the Wetherspoons and not will recommend for anyone. The owner need to check his staff more carefully. They are rude and don't care how clients feel.”
“I would like to bring to your attention the awful and demoralising behaviour my Uncle has experienced in one of your pubs this week.
My Uncle has been going to The Mannamead pub (Mutley plain, Plymouth) on a weekly, and sometimes daily basis for over 30 years. He is an elderly, single man who enjoys going to your pub to get out of his house, not feel alone and to generally boost his own mental health.
This week however, he was turned away by one of your employees because HE WAS ALONE, and was told this would take up a table that could sit 4 people, this is absolutely disgusting. I was mortified when he told me he could not come in because he doesn’t know anyone inside. Who, i ask, do your staff think they are? He has been drinking in that pub for longer than a lot of those employees have been alive. I would also like to add, this is not one of your “peak times” you state on your website it was a time when it is mentioned that anyone is welcome.
I ask, how is this a policy of wetherspoons, who are meant to be a welcoming and enjoyable place for people to go.
I completely understand the guidelines that are in place, with social distancing etc but how can one of your policies be that if someone is ALONE they cannot enter the pub. If this is a wetherspoons policy, please explain the understanding behind this, as I cannot in any way see how this can be justified.
This is the saddest policy I have ever heard if this is one for all wetherspoons pubs, I am trying to believe that this is not a policy and is just one horrible employee that has been hired and is discriminating against an elderly man who is alone. My uncle has spent months in lockdown alone and was pleased when the pubs reopened as this is where he spends his time.
I honestly can’t put into words how upset and shocked I was to hear he could not go for a quiet drink where he attended on an almost daily basis before lockdown.
My Unlce lives 6 hours away from my family so us going with him to sort this out is not feasible, so I would appreciate it if this bizarre and shocking issue was cleared up with The Mannamead pub and my Uncle was not refused entry the next time he tries to go into the pub.”
“Horrible duty manager. Kept reciting to smokers how “he remembered his first pint” when actually I don’t drink this month due to my charity challenge for Cancer Research UK. Horrible man as I completed accepted the pub was at full capacity due to COVID-19, I left and came back around 30 minutes later and the same situation which I was happy to leave again but instead he continued to insult me by saying he “remembered his first pint” which I am insulted by and haven’t stopped crying since. Will not be visiting again, thanks Oxford. Please see photo of a smiling duty manager as he watched me cry because of his actions, also please see link below to my charity challenge I’m which I am sober for...

“We called in to Wetherspoon pub in Knaresborough for a coffee. Due to Coved 19 we expected to be registered by a member of staff on entering. NO- go look for your own registration form and fill it in. On leaving play “hunt the box for the registration form depositing”. It almost as far away from the exit as possible, on the bar, which we have been asked not to visit as staff would give table service. This meant customers were leaving without giving their details. Our other observations were-
Everyone touches -the coffee dispenser screen, -milk jug- tea bags, sugar bags & stirrers- manuals hand sanitizer dispenser.
STAFF- non wore face masks or gloves, yet they were attending numerous tables, bar and meal service area. Handling meal plates, cups and glasses. Replacement cups handled by staff with no protection. Magazines and leaflets left on tables for all to handle and share. Finally the ordering app is very time consuming. It took longer to order the coffee than drink it. And it was still self service!!!
The experience did not make me think Wetherspoon were taking the protection of staff and customers seriously.”
“The only thing repugnant about Wetherspoons is Tim Martin. He does not deserve the staff he treats so badly and his consideration for the health of his customer base is heartless.”
“First visit to the chequers in Stourbridge we very rudely asked to drink up 10-10.second visit arrived at 10-30 the doors were locked. Quite a few disgruntled customers outside. The website clearly states that they are open till 12-00 am. Will not be visiting again. We will go somewhere we are welcome.”
“Weatherspoons gourmet vegan burger is the absolute best, i would love the recipe for this burger, full of flavour and taste, well done for a fantastic burger.”
“With their 1980s tank-tops and ripped jeans, your average punter at Wetherspoons, Harlow soon lets you know you have just entered a chav-friendly zone.
Watch out for the double-buggies blocking the way through, pushed by biceps-bulging, hairy-chinned, nose-pierced tattooed customers...and that's just the women.
Save your money and reputation for somewhere more classy - McDonalds for instance.”
“Be alcohol aware. Do you feel like your drinking too much? Do you wish you could cut your alcohol consumption? Do you feel like alcohol is consuming your life? If the answer is yes and you really want the answer then simply download the free wetherspoons app. The wait dramatically reduces your alcoholic intake.”
“I've been in a few times for breakfast which has been cold and I've sent it back too . Once my eggs look like they been under the hot plate for 3 hours . Sorry Aldershot the food is lovely not a bad word for that but breakfast is always cold . I also tried a bacon sandwich and that was cold , I think you need to get a new breakfast chef someone that knows what they are doing . Cold food is not a good look .”
“Well done Robert Ramsey and team in the Waterlooville branch....
Always met with a smile and great service, love my breakfast here it starts my day in a great way”
“Went to wetherspoons in sleaford ,ordered panini with chips ,didn't have to wait long but chips were only warm so complained to the staff and they took them away and put them in the microwave they were absolutely disgusting so goodbye Mr.Martin”
“Went to weatherspoons on Brayford side in Lincoln. Don’t know how they get away with the state of the place it’s disgusting and stinks of what can only be described as sewage we found out why as shown in the photo the place is full of rubbish and rotting food under the falling to bits furniture the rubbish must have been there months and has not seen a cleaner for as long DONT GO THERE IT SHOULD BE CONDEMNED”
“Visited to day at the Shakespeare London and ordered a large breakfast and a mushroom benedict. 25 mins after order turned up and was cold. Sent it back. Waited 15-20 again to get a send lot. But bus not much better. Even the plates were cold. By this time was so hungry just ended up eating”
“As a long time customer of Wetherspoons I was overjoyed when they opened a newplace in our town. But now I'm seriously considering moving my custom elsewhere. Why? Because Wetherspoons coffee machines keep braking down, the coffee is often cold, some supplies are unavailable even a week after I mentioned it to their staff and the disabled toilet is most of the time occupied by the non-disabled.”
