“This is Happy Feet. She's our lavendar easter egger. We purchased her and 2 mystery chicks. One is a Barred Rock and the other is a Cuckoo Maran (as new chicked tenders it took us awhile to figure that out. Kudos for whomever picked those out). I have also purchased the lavendar pads for the neating boxes and love them. We will absolutely be purchasing more chicks from My Pet Chicken 🐔”

“UPDATE: AFTER LEAVING MY REVIEW I GOT AN EMAIL ASKING TO REVISE MY REVIEW BECAUSE THEY SENT THEIR CONDOLENCES. Was refunded for chicks DOA. However, they shipped with NO source of warmth in the middle of November from OHIO to CALIFORNIA. It was 60* when they arrived. 3 passed within 12 hours and another that I was trying to revive within 48 hours. While they were gracious about the refund- it was about the chicks suffering huypothermia needlessly. I would have rather had the chicks arrive safely (especially for $60 shipping). Half of my shipment(8 total) is DOA and I have one itsy bitsy tiny runt that I am trying to keep thriving. Will not be using MPC again. I have shipped a variety of different hatcheries and never had this many casualties. Chicks did not arrive banded for the different breeds so I am also having to guess which is which.”

We were truly sorry to hear about your experience. Losing chicks is heartbreaking, and it’s clear you took great care in planning for their arrival and providing for them. At My Pet Chicken, we prioritize the safety of shipped chicks by carefully considering weather, chick numbers, and the best methods to protect their health. While heat packs may seem to be beneficial, it can sometimes cause more harm than good, especially during moderate temperatures as chicks are very sensitive and the extra heat can stress them or even cause overheating in the box. This is why our hatchery carefully monitors the weather before every shipment of chicks. We choose not to include grow gel because newly hatched chicks naturally absorb the yolk sac just before hatch which sustains them with all the nutrients they need for their first 48-72 hours. Introducing GroGel right away can actually jumpstart their digestion too quickly, leading to digestive issues once it’s gone. Additionally, there’s a risk of the gel spilling during transit, which could leave the chicks wet, cold, and vulnerable. Your detailed feedback is helpful to us - and helps others understand these challenges. We understand why this experience has made you question future orders. Please know that losses like this are rare, and most chicks arrive safely. I hope the rest of your flock thrives, and we’re here to assist if you have further questions.

“We are excited to get some more baby chicks. We purchased the complete package for starting them. Instead of using a red heat lamp over the chicks we will use a heating plate in the package. The chicks will be in a special play pen so the can have more movement. Before we had a plastic container with not much space for our new chicks. Love the the book on raising chickens that is included.. We have been raising chickens for a multitude of years but finally learning about a better way of raising them from My Pet Chicken.”

“I have made multiple purchases of Pekin Ducklings and I am 100% happy with not only the ducks, but with the great customer service provided by the MPC staff. I made an error on my shipping address that was updated immediately (even though it wasn't during MPC normal business hours I don't believe) and Reps are also helpful with questions about the care of the ducks.”

“I LOVE My Pet Chicken.!!!!Any and everything I have purchased has been exactly what was described on their site. The chicks I ordered last spring have started laying and it's so fun to see the changes in the sizes of the eggs each week. I seldom handle my birds but to my surprise on the hens has decided she is my best friend. I can go outside and she runs up and lays down right in front of me so I can pet her or pick her up. Who knew chickens could be so friendly??? Have not tried the coop heater yet but as soon as my handyman hangs it for me - I will let you all know how it works.”

“Customer care very important with these folks. They have shipped my order on time. My ducks are perfect. They are 3 weeks old and very healthy. Follow the directions on a one page sheet of paper they send you. No problems just ducklings everywhere. Very nice!!!”

“I ordered 8 chicks and 4 died within 3 days. I had a heat lamp, food, and water. I also cleaned them and refreshed their water daily. We had to buy 4 local chicks to replace the 4 that died and all 4 that were bought locally survived. I wouldn’t order from them again because shipping is too much on the chicks.”

“We placed two orders with My Pet Chicken. Our first order had a high amount of chicks that didn't make it through shipping. No fault of the company. USPS issues. My Pet Chicken agents were very sympathetic and refunded my money quickly. The chicks that survived are currently strong and healthy. I didn't get all the breed of chicks I ordered, but I gave them the okay to substitute. I'm very happy with the selection. Our second order came, and only one chick passed. I received all the breeds I ordered. I've now placed 3 orders with My Pet Chicken and will most likely place many more.”
