Great idea, terrible phone. I purchased a phone from Pinwheel less than a year ago. In that time I have had to reach out to customer service multiple times due to issues with the phone- It won't send pictures even to approved contacts, the GPS location won't update for hours to days, the phone sends the same notifications 20-30 times at boot up and you cannot use it until it's done sending them. About a month ago, the phone stopped turning on or would shut itself off. It would eventually turn back on, but hours after you pushed the power button. Pinwheel said it needed a new battery and despite the phone being less than a year old they offered no warranty. I spent almost the price of the phone to replace the battery. Less than 2 weeks later the phone freezes during use and after restart will not go past the boot screen. I followed customer service's steps and it stopped turning on at all. Now they tell me I have to spend more money to repair it after wasting money on a repair it didn't need, or I can buy a whole new phone. Once again they do not stand behind their products and will not offer a replacement despite the phone being less than a year old. Why would I purchase a new phone from them when experience has shown their product to be a waste of money and their ability to fix their products mediocre at best.

Stupidest phone ever. This phone is the worst thing ever. I am a kid, and I am of the age where I should have a REAL phone, not this fake excuse for one. The “safety VPN” drains the phones battery at a rate faster than the Niagara Falls. I can’t even use it for 15 minutes without getting a low power notification. It’s not like I’d want to anyways, because the amount of apps is as small as the screen. I have about 7 apps and all of them are odd. I am 90% sure that the inventor of this dumb thing had the intent of making millions of kids miserable. Congrats! You did it. 10/10 don’t recommend. Only reason I gave it a 1 is that I wasn’t able to go into the negatives. Please don’t support this invention.

Pinwheel's Customer service team is among the worst. I have had to deal with them on numerous occasions to secure a replacement phone. At each interface, they would list a set of instructions or requirements. In most cases, an different representative would take over the case and then require a different set of instructions. There was usually 3-4 rounds of this. When I pointed this out to the reps, there was zero acknowledgement that the previous rep offered non-comprehensive or conflicting data. Zero acknowledgement of the time it took to complete the task that simply didn't move the ball forward. We have two of these phones and have sent countless parents to secure phones for their children. My apologies to those of you whom I recommended this service. I am hoping there is viable alternative very soon.

We just learned when our Granddaughter received her phone for her Birthday that Chen forgot to add the SIM card to our order. Very disappointing that her phone could not be activated and we are not waiting to hear back from Pinwheel on when they can ship out the SIM card. I understand mistakes are made. It’s how these mistakes are handled afterwards it what makes a company. I had to argue with customer service that I should not have to pay additional shipping to correct their mistake. Their initial answer was I could order the card from Amazon or Mint Mobile with free shipping. Now waiting to hear back from customer service to see how they are going to handle.

As a mom AND a UX professional, this is the worse product I’ve used in decades. Some of the apps which are available through the parent portal are actually impossible to set up on the phone because they require the link manager which pinwheel doesn’t allow. Support is almost nonexistent. The portal interface looks and feels like it was designed and developed by a non-professional while setting around their kitchen table - it’s a lesson in frustration. A very large portion of the apps that are ”appropriate” are religious-based apps. I can only surmise that this phone is geared towards religious homeschooled kids. Over 2 years in and this product hasn’t gotten any better. My kid is frustrated, I’m more frustrated, and the device and monthly subscription is way too expensive for what you get. I wish we had our money back

Pinwheel as a product is great. Just hope you don't get a lemon or need assistance because their customer service is the WORST I have ever encountered. Either on the phone or email, you feel like a hamster on a wheel, working really hard but never getting anywhere. The phone they sent was refurbished, didn't work right from the start. When it stopped charging we finally threw up our hands and went over to Troomi. They wouldn't even refund the 6 months of service we didn't use.

I understand that they have my kid's safety in mind, which I appreciate. But, nothing about using this phone or the caregiver app is easy. I approve an app and two-three days later it finally appears on my kid's phone. That might be good publicity for Pinwheel, they are protecting my kid, but they don't have to deal with a frustrated kid for two days because the app that I approved is not on their phone. And this was a PInwheel approved app. Calling the helpline is little help either because you can never get anyone. I should have gotten my kids an Apple watch and then limited their access like a lot of parents I know have done.

I ordered the phone on August 1. I still haven't received it. Live chat customer service tells me it's on backorder with no ETA. To say it's frustrating is an understatement.

So unhappy with this phone. All I want to do is return the damn thing and get a refund and that's been a nightmare. I think I got a broken phone to begin with and have never got it up and running to where it will make calls. Very disappointed!

I had to cancel the service and phone before we received it. I ordered on August 1st, and when August 15th arrived I still didn't have confirmation of shipping, I reached out to customer service who did confirm the phone hadn't been shipped and she couldn't quickly give me a date about when it would. What good is a free trial when I don't have my phone by the stated 10 business days? I'm very disappointed with the whole experience and can't recommend Pinwheel. The website needs to be changed and state the correct dates about when phones will be shipped, if it's longer than 10 days, the trial period should be extended.

I have not received my phone nor tracking information saying that it has shipped. I ordered the phone 19 days ago. It was not back ordered. Your system is now sending me a message asking me how my experience with the phone is going, so now I am wondering if your system thinks I have the phone.

Very poor. I ordered a phone on July 25 and it is still not delivered on August 12. I was told it was because Amazon is delaying deliveries. Well, our son starts school on Monday, and no phone. It's been 14 business days. So we might cancel Pinwheel if it is not delivered by the end of the week, and just go to the store across the street and buy one.
