“Didn't tell me it was a 12 month contract and I could not cancel. As soon as I signed up their sales reps stopped answering my calls. very expensive for the websites they write in india”
“Yell tell you everything to get you signed up like “we are number 1”. “We will get you noticed online”.
Yet if you read the T and Cs. They cannot promise anything which is the total opposite to the sales pitch and if it doesn’t work you still have to pay anyway. I have been waiting for over a week for the investigation team to listen to a call where I feel I was miss lead into not seeing the T and Cs until I had signed the dotted line which meant 1 hour after signing up and reading the term I wasn’t allowed to cancel due to no cooling off period.”
“Very disappointed with the quality of my Premium Plus website. Cost me a thousand pound and looks like it was written by a five year old. Asked who wrote it and the said a specialist team in India. That explains it.”
“I paid to go into the final yellow pages which was a 12 month contract. When the rep came round she told me that you get the online stuff as an added bonus, I said I didn't really want it as it doesn't work (nobody Googles Yell to find a trades-person) but she said it's included as part of the package for the year so I may as well have it and see if it works (it doesn't, not one call). On completing and making all 12 payments they now continue to take money and are now saying I needed to give a 1 months notice to cancel the online package. This is not something I was told in the meeting with their rep when she came round and I now feel completely scammed by her.
Yell is a vile company full of parasites using deceitful underhanded sales tactics, I will advise everyone from now on to avoid like the plague.”
“This has got to be the worst company in the World to deal with. Sold me products that were not ready to be for sale. Messed up my listings. Tried to contact them know one EVER calls back. Now I have a court summons. What a absolute joke of a company. AVOID at all costs ;(”
“Horrendous be very careful what you sign up for. A complete waste of money they tie you into a rolling contract but don't explain this. Spend the money on Google and a good local web builder.”
“site was really poor english and seo - did not tell me there was no cancellation even if the site and rubbish ppc did not work. just interested in sales.”
“Do not use Yell missold, poor communication and rolling contracts that they never tell you about. Useless never did anything promised only used for no. Divert want to terminate after 5 years but tied in. Sent all correspondence to previous address after being told about change. Said were looking into my account never heard a thing until email sayingn pay within 5 days or debt collector will be informed after5 years as a customer.Use google adwords and a local website professional.”
“Rip off merchants. Ringing people telling them they need to buy a whole new website because their domain name isn’t ‘secure’. £30 for an SSL sertificate would do it, not a whole new website. Avoid at all costs. Just a sales company!”
“Offshore customer service and people building websites. 40 percent commission on adwords - highest around. Lot of reviews on here suddenly - wonder what's going on?????????????????????????????”
“my electric services website i found out was written in india. they put on pics of european plug sockets! slick sales method promising the world but they are charging for sites that dont work.”
“I have only gone as far as getting a quote from this company and the customer service I received was diabolical. I wanted quotes for how much a website would cost me for my small up and coming buisness. I was contacted by Yell and a few other companies. The person I spoke to from Yell was nice to begin with, showing genuine interest in my small business, I made it clear that I wasn't going to go ahead with anything today but wanted to know a rough price for the near future when I can afford a website. After 45 minutes of showing me different website layouts/selling Yell as the BEST website builder, we finally moved on to price. It was going to cost around £100 per month. I was very clear to her that I had not shopped around yet, was unable to commit to that much, hadn't even looked up reviews of Yell, and needed to check with my partner first. She became VERY pushy, rude and patronising about all of these things, basically saying that I won't be successful without their website. She crossed the line when she asked me why the decision has anything to do with my partner and why exactly I wanted to check with her. She also crossed the line when she said 'why did you even make an enquiry if you are not prepared to set up a website now'. Simple reason really, I want to know how much it costs and make an informed decision, as does every customer. She finally hung up abruptly after I said I would consider it in the future when I can afford it. Absolutely terrible customer service, rude, patronising and HARD SELLING. It has put me off using other companies and definitely put me off them for life. They bombard you all day with calls, voicemails, emails, ring you from their personal mobiles and text you. Very aggressive, avoid forever.”
“Not open on weekends. Great idea.
Anyway.
I have contacted you numerous times reguarding the change of services that I provide on my advertising.
Why then do you continue to sabotage my Google listing with false information and services. I don't want roofing work. I don't want insulation work. I am not a handyman. I AM A LANDSCAPER!
You have gone far beyond providing a totally pointless service and are now making it difficult for me to find work via my own methods. I mean if that's not a reason to cancel what is.”
“Please please never take out a paid listing with Yell. We were sold the dream no difference to our free listing and generated no I repeat no difference. Spend your hard earned advertising money on adwords you at least can control your spend and results. When you want to discuss getting help from Yell your manager disappears and they argue with you - they just do not care as long as they get their money.”
“Do not get involved with YELL.
Total waste of money...no customer service, misleading, massively overcharged and stole money from my Bank account...I have reported this company they will not get another penny from me...AVOID!!!”
