Ripp off Britain : Disaster Total Rip off Company, Do not advertise you dont get what they promise no break clause, i got done for £1800.00 with a single signature.

Cowbows, missold into 12 month contract. Business has ceased trading and they will not honor their own T+C's by cancelling the agreement. Avoid at all costs, rip off merchants.

Yell.com very bad unprofessional company. They tie you into a yearly rolling contract without telling you and then invoice you for the rest of year when you want to cancel. Then they pass your details to moorcroft debt collection agency. Total scum.

I am posting here as I cannot believe the way we have been treated by Yell. We have been a customer for over 15 years. Yell are all fine and dandy if you go by their rules but the moment you want to change anything or reduce advertising they turn nasty. We have had several run ins with accounts managers in the past who have tried to get us to sign up for more than we wanted. Having put our foot down this year and drastically reduced our advertising we are now out of contract and wanted to cancel. Months ago I started the ball rolling for this and despite many e-mails from yell stating that the account has been cancelled I keep getting nasty e-mails stating that my account is overdue. I have e-mailed complaints department, accounts department and account manager and yet it seems the cancellation request has not gone through. Only today I had another chase only this time it was a letter stating that if we don;t pay then they are taking us to court (for £36 might I add!). I called another person in accounts today and they said they could not talk to me as I was not a contact on the account ! infact they could not even find my company with the ticket number I gave them. Yell is an absolute joke. They could not put me through to a manager or supervisor, they keep contradicting, they are patronising. I left a review on trustpilot, they initally responded to apologise and they will look into it and now they have today reported my review! You shouldn't be able to do that , its not right, people have the right to know what lengths they will go to to avoid negative reviews. Absolute joke. No thanks for the last 15 years of advertising then! Beware of Yell.

Yellow books are obsolete and so is their website. Charging a fixed price for advertising is barbaric and unacceptable for nowadays industry. Use google ads/facebook/instagram to advertise for less than a penny per view with the ability to manually target your demographics. No binding contracts either unlike with yell. Im sure they know that their days are counted so they are at the point where maximizing profits despite harming their own reputation is the only option left. Millenials will push yell out of business and it is only a matter of time.

Yell are the worst company in the UK. Luckily there are places to complain to who have the power to highlight their awful behaviour! Always review here and on Trustpilot. Those reviews can't be tampered with and are more trust worthy than anything written on a companies website! The public knows this which is why they are so successful!

This is the worst company to advertise with ....AVOID!!!! They literally steamroller you into a contract without giving you any time to read through their Terms & Conditions and they don't even refer you to their T&C. You don't get to actually sign a contract. As far as they are concerned once they have your bank details you are tied to them for a year!! YOU WON'T GET ANY CALLS.... but you will pay for the privilege. Think about it....The minute you are not happy with them they turn really nasty and threaten you with bailiffs, and anyone who is not in the know would be frightened of this. In fact, unless these bailiffs have a court order, they have no legal powers to do anything but ask you to pay! They can't enter your house, touch your possessions or harass you in anyway shape or form. For it to be legal, Yell will have to take you to court and that's when you get to have your say. The courts have the power to over turn Yell based on substandard service and unfair agreement. So don't be frightened. Insist that they take you to court! Your Consumer Rights will be almost non existent because when you deal with this disrespectful cowboy outfit you will be entering a business-to-business contract, which basically means you're stuffed! Miss-selling their adverts, only caring about getting their money. Sales woman sold me an ad after I told her I didn't want to buy Anything since my business started like 3 days ago, and didn't have the finances for it, however she made it sound like yell.com is my absolute salvation to get customers, and now, 2months in, according to their analytics somebody clicked on my ad 50 times in 2 months, bringing a price per click on ad to £4 per click or £20+ per phone call. So if you are buying advertising never buy it from yell, no one is even using their website, can't get customers there and you'll be outrageously overcharged for nothing and be stuck in a 12 month contract with them. Just Google 'yell.com 12 month scam' and you'll find hundreds of unhappy, scammed customers like me. Spend your money visely, like Google ads or Facebook ads, they give you effective advertising without 12 month contract... I still can't believe how I got scammed into 12 month contract to have my ad on their website, what an absolute souless company who has scamming small business as fair game..

Avoid at all cost. Very good salesman who talks you into signing up to give it a go, without clarity at all. I feel like the product was totally mis-sold to me and now I find I'm tied into a 12 month contract that I can't get out of. I thought I was buying one product but it turns out to be 2 products, and if I'd known that I would just have bought the one. I had no idea I didn't have to buy the whole package, and I had no idea I was committing to 12 months. I was under the impression I could see how it goes for a while, test the waters. Apparently somewhere down the line I clicked on something to agree to a 12 month commitment, but the whole process was so rushed with 2 different sales people on the phone and logged into my PC screen asking me to click here and click there (during a busy work day for me!) and it was not explained to me at all well. Very, very pushy. I am now committed to a whole year, after which I will be cancelling immediately and avoiding Yell like the plague. A poor company with very slick sales people. I've tried complaining but of course legally - somewhere - I accepted and so they are going to hold me to that. No sense of goodwill towards the customer - and so I shall review them as such. Perhaps their ineffective response to my complaint and their poor customer service will cost them more than if they just let me out of the contract! I was only asking to cancel Reputation Manager at £48 per month. I'd happily continue with the advert. Hopefully the honest reviews I will post wherever possible will cost them more than the £48 per month for 10 more months that they could have cancelled as a gesture of goodwill towards a customer who might otherwise have been a long term advertiser with them. Poor foresight. Appalling customer service.

Reviewed Yell.com on trustpilot because they were constantly harassing us via the phone trying and refusing to talk to my business partner. They then reported my review for not having an account with them. Total Cowboys!!

I left a negative review for a business that was fair and accurate. Two days later when I looked at the business again there were 6 5* reviews added, which I thought was a coincidence. I asked Yell if they ever checked out these reviews and they said that these people were genuine because they had registered an e-mail address with them ! They also said that unless |I could prove that the reviews were bogus (or written by the business owner) then they wouldn't remove them. So it seems to me that some of the reviews on Yell can't be truted. Not impressed.

I do not have a business account with Yell.com, although I have left reviews for businesses on that site. So imagine my surprise when I received an e-mail saying that a "yell.com user" had complained that my business listing contained "wrong information". They said they had tried to contact me but failed ( ? ) and that I needed to contact them to discuss this. If I didn't then my free listing would be removed. I emailed back wishing them luck in deleting a listing that didn't exist and promptly deleted my e-mail a/c. Either Yell.com have got their wires crossed or there is something dodgy going on (phishing ?)

Yell removed a genuine review that I left for a business despite the fact that the review did not breach their policies. If Yell only allows five stars reviews than the potential customers do not get a realistic idea of the services they intend to purchase.

Shockingly expensive with a terrible service. I was sold my advertising with the promise of regular visits by the agent to monitor and improve my web site and adverts. Once I had signed up and paid I never saw or heard from him again. Avoid like the plague. Web site hosting by yell is around 10 times more expensive than other companies. And that’s just the beginning.

Very bad experience with Yell. 12 mouths contract and 0% realisation...and instead of compensation for the extremely poor management of our campaign, at the end of the term, we were handed over to a collector for a commitment from £46...I will never again think of using their services. Shame!!!

Yell refused to remove a malicious and untruthful review on my business. Had no dealings with the woman who wrote the review. Phoned Yell after they emailed me, but the chap was even more arrogant in his attitude and said they would not remove the review. I guess if i was paying Yell for advertising then they would have removed it. As I see it, no business should subscribe to Yell as their attitude stinks.

Awful customer service and 0 leads in 3 months. The agent came into our clinic saying how bad our website was and that is the reason for no leads. Since changing our website nothing has changed and we had no leads contact us or even enquire about our services. I would not recommend these services to my worst enemy as it's simply a waste of money.

Complete sham of a company. Paid thousands of pounds after being locked into a 12 month contract, it is now 9 months into it and I have made a single conversion. Got contacted by about 2 or 3 folks in that time. I doubt I will ever do business with them again and I suggest you dont!

DO NOT ADVERTISE WITH YELL. IF I COULD HAVE GIVEN THEM 0 STARS I WOULD HAVE DONE! I have been advertising with Yell for 4 years and each time I renew with them i encounter problems. Last year one of the reps came round to renew our adverts and add some new adverts. We told him that our budget was £800, and that we couldn't afford to go over that amount. He then went ahead and placed the orders for us got all the paperwork signed and left. We then find out that the rep had placed orders that had amounted to around £2,000 a month which is well over what we had agreed to with the rep. He was so eager to get the paperwork signed that he didn't even go through each add as we would have realised what he had done. This year another rep came as we refused to see the previous one who had conned us and the new rep who came said that the previous rep was well known for conning the customers into large orders. This time the adverts were placed but again the adverts were all mixed up showing wrong logo's, wrong telephone numbers on one of the adverts we even had a different telephone number altogether belonging to a dry cleaning firm. I have complained numerous times to Yell, by telephone, to our rep by telephone and text to which he does not reply. Yell are as nice a pie until they get you to sign on the dotted line, if there are issues afterwards they do not want to know. I have screen shots of the errors I have mentioned. Our rep gave me a list of all the areas we covered it took nearly 2 weeks for me to go through each individual advert and check and note any mistakes sure enough there were over 20 pages of mistakes. I have sent copies of this list together with some of the screen shots to Yell but apparently they have not received it yet and my compaint has been closed eventhough it was only opened last week and they were aware that I was going to forward proof to them of the errors. I have now been informed that the adverts have been take down including our sponsored listings as there is an outstanding amount. The payments have been stopped as the adverts were incorrect how can you pay for something that is wrong. Not only does it look bad to any prospective customers it also makes our company look dodgy. I have lost a lot of business due to all these mistakes as customers ring me asking if its e.g London Shutters but they have actually come through on the S & S Shutters phone line. The biggest loss will be our Alibaba Shutters listing which has our name and logo but a completely unknown 0800 number. I actually telephoned the number and found that it belongs to a dry cleaning company so if any customers did ring that number they would have got through to a dry cleaning company and not us. Yell are unprofessional with their conduct and are only interested in getting new business from you they will call you and chase you but in case of errors they do not return calls or correct errors. We did have a website which Yell built for us and then took down and then they claimed that they do not have the website anymore how can you lose a website that was built by them surely there should be a copy somewhere. Instead they kept on trying to get me to pay for a new website to be built. Yell is all about how much money they can get from you. The reps, the customer service team everyone is very helpful and bend over backwards to make sure you renew adverts once you sign that's it if there are mistakes or errors you will then spend months to try and get them sorted with no luck as they are not interested.
