“conned into a contract, was told i could get a trial period, after which i said no thanks its not working to be told im stuck in a 12 month contract. gave up trying to get anywhere and just paid each month, ring to cancel to be told i havent passed security so he cant help, or transfer me to a supervisor or manager to help or to complain to, birmingham customer service you are a disgrace!!”

“YELL assured me that my site was ok and the problems I could see on their viewer platform was just a glitch with my laptop (which is 6 months old and state of the art). Well they have finally put my web site live after 2 months and me spending probably 40 hours of my own time trying to get them to correct their multitude or mistakes and errors. SURPRISE SURPRISE THEY HAVE NOT SORTED IT. 1. The pictures that were cut off on view I was assured are fine and would look perfect online. Guess What? They are not and they are cut off as they were 2 weeks ago when I flagged it up and was told all will be ok. 2. I have asked them over half a dozen time to set the complaints policy next to privacy policy rather than standing out boldly on the home page?? (who in their right mind would want to brazenly highlight their complaints policy even over their services its beggar’s belief). 3. The ultimate one though is that on an I pad the pages don’t load. You go straight to the home page and then if you click on one of the others you go nowhere. If you are lucky you get there in about 5 minutes. Yes like someone will wait 5 minutes for a page to load (just to clarify I am on super-fast broadband with a brand new I pad pro and also I have checked straight after a number of web sites of friends on the I pad and they work perfectly). Please take my advice YELL ARE INCAPABLE OF DONG THE JOB!!!!! Yellow pages were outstanding I worked for them for nearly 15 years absolutely amazing. These Charlies don’t have a scobbie do. Please avoid and use a proper web site design company. UPDATE They have today advised me that the issue with the pictures is down to my inferior state of the art lap top. And the tablet issues are down to setting problems!!!!!! TOTAL AND UTTER RUBISH THEY DO NOT CARE ONE JOT”

“Wow what can I say. Got telephone call this morning from tell regarding my free listing on there site. I was expecting a short call. But this sales rep went on and on about meta tags, seo and a load if other jargon. I was on the phone for over an hour and missed an appointment I had scheduled. I have worked in security for over 35 yrs and built up a good rep with customers etc. However this sales guy kept refusing to inform me of the cost for getting me higher ranked in Google. He was saying I need to be linked to a great load of social media sites and several other listings. When I asked him what his intentions were to help my website get more traffic he said I would need a whole complete website designed by them which would cost me nearly £500 and I would need to pay £45 a month for them to keep me generating more traffic and potential leads. When I said I'll need to think about it he got very pushy saying if I truly wanted a successful business then I would need to act on what they are offering and pay today. I've designed my own website and certainly know my potential customers. I've got vast experience in getting traffic to my site. All I did was put up a free listing on yell that's all. This sales guy tried to insult my intelligence and sell me a crazy package. Total nonsense. Don't trust these yell people. Total RIP offs.”

“1 star is too much. Lie to reel you in, then either cant be bother or dont know how to make good on promises. Every time I complain, it's my fault, half an hour of account manager telling me how visible my business is. Then try to sell me a website! I check how visible my business is from my jobs, over a 9 mile radius from where I live, scroll down for a minute you might be able to find me. They are a disgrace. AVOID,AVOID, AVOID”

“12 month contract with yell for a website. Was a 12 month disaster. Cut my losses due to their poor service and a mental breakdown. Had no leads or customers over that year. Yell wanted £1000.00 upfront with £30.00 per month just to add a store to my website! Took full advantage of my lack of tech knowledge. Now they want an extra 2 months they say is outstanding. It is not owed! They went straight to Moorcroft after they ignored my last email in Nov and 6 weeks later, without informing me in writing by email or post and now refuse to acknowledge the debt if £84.00 is disputed! Horrendous company. Yell have even been downgraded by Moodys to caa1 rating! And if you check out I hate Yell group on Facebook you'll find HUNDREDS of customers who had a much worse time than me! There is also a class action suit pending against them from these angry customers! AVOID AVOID AVOID. 🤬”

“Terrible service, Terrible results, complete waste of money from start to finish, when you tell them the results are not good tghey try to get you to spend more, then they make it such a complicated process to cancel. Lots of better advertising options out there than Yell”

“Completely waste of money with yell. Over one year contract and no even 1p back. After the contract is run out they won't let you leave so easily, finding 100 reasons that you can't do it. Please be careful with this company.”

“1 star is too much! Please read reviews and listen to the bad ones! I signed up for a free listing and was hounded by calls from yell. They start by talking to you about your listing and how bad your business is in the searches. They then give you a price on how much it is to get more business. Well, the business will never come. Biggest warning. It’s business to business but they will not tell you this until you try to cancel and you can’t. It’s an absolute joke of a company. I even said on the phone I want to speak to someone else about it and it’s too much money for me as I’ve only just set up. But he wouldn’t take no for an answer. I have emailed tell for a copy of my phone call recording but they are useless at getting back to you.”

“Yell conned my company out of two months subscription at the end of my contract, even though I gave over the required 14 days notice. They are a bunch of thieves. Also, in the year that I was with them, not one person rang me up to say they found me through Yell. All new enquiries came via my own website that I set up and cost £10 per month rather than £86.72. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM. JUST A WASTE OF MONEY.”

“After 20 years of working with Yellow Pages / Yell.com and having spent tens of thousands of pounds over the period I have recently found this company to be guilty of mi-selling contracts. Their sales force inform you of a 14 day notice period however they neglect to tell you that if you run into your next service period you will be charged for the whole period not just the 14 days notice period. They will then pursue you with ferocity when you dispute the charges. AVOID!”

“Do not trust Yell. They are 100% conmen. They take your money and cannot produce the goods. I have managed to get out my contract. But I have still paid over 3k for a website that they could not produce. Do NOT TRUST these guys. I. now taking them to court to recover my losses”

“Yell are the worst company I have ever dealt with, absolutely disgusting service, they also cut and paste our existing BT website, been waiting 7 months for our website to go live, was told 2 months ago we could have a full refund, they lye and pass the blame within their own company, It would be 0 stars if I could leave 0 stars, DO NOT USE THEM”

“I was promised a lot but they failed to deliver on any of it. Every body I spoke to except one, had something different to say and even when I tried to end the contract things were changing! I have finally finished paying a lot of money for something that didn't work and they would not take any responsibility for it! I would advise in the STRONGEST terms possible to AVOID this company at all costs. I only gave 1 star because I had to, it would not let me put a minus.”

“Please read the rest of these reviews, there is certainly no smoke without fire. Truly dreadful, outdated company trying to stay relevant in today’s market. It’s basically a complete con. They will trick you into some sort of contract that you’re not even aware of. When you try and get out of it after you realise it’s doing nothing for your company you’re threatened with debt collection etc. I literally got nothing off the back of ‘advertising’ through Yell. It just wasted money for resources elsewhere. Unfortunately so much so it completely ruined my business and I’ve had to close it. PLEASE AVOID. Absolute scam artists. I can’t believe they haven’t been investigated yet!”

“I had a website with Yell for 12/18 months. Paying about £70 per month. Very basic but generated no additional income to my business. A salesman visited me and sold me additional packages on the assurance loads of customers would be driven to the website which would in turn generate a huge increase in sales. Sounds great. This cost £440 per month. 12 months down the line not one sale has resulted from this investment in my business. Very poor customer service and tied into contracts which I'm able to extract myself. Perhaps my own fault for trusting their promises. But nothing has been delivered. Do not sign up with this company.”

“The website that I purchased from Yell was nothing like the website I was shown by the sales rep. This company is 100% money driven they don't care if you get a bad service from them they just want the money out of you. I did complain in writing to yell but it just fell on death ears. I got trading standards involved but they seemed powerless to be able to do anything about what yell are doing. I paid yell £1,650, I was threatened with a debt collection agency, I ended up paying £60 per month hosting fees for a website that wasn't even on the internet?? Basically I paid yell £1,650 and got absolutely nothing out of it. THIS COMPANY SHOULD NOT BE TRADING! PLEASE AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!!! BUSINESS OWNER”
