“A site for cowboys don't go near it!!”

“Meant to be impartial but biased towards the consumer. Received our first and only negative fabricated review, since being with Checkatrade for 5 years. Sent Checkatrade all evidence photos, emails, invoices etc. The review was still published. Only limited to a few sentences in our "right to reply". No support for our small business. Very disappointed. They are happy to take your money and the price increase greatly every year.”

“We are a contractor registered with Checkatrade I reduced my membership with them due to the significant lack of leads being sent through from the company. Our businesses boasts 5 star reviews so its no reflection of us. On Friday 07/07/2023 we were charged £111.76 for a months subscription. In that month we had only two leads! Thats not actual jobs but but people just enquiring about our business. At £55.88 a lead Im sure you will agree thats a crazy amount of money to be charged for absolutely nothing. I have emailed Checkatrade who have failed to reply to me and so unfortunately its a 1* review and a cancellation of a membership.”

They promote to help you and your business when actual fact they just want your money and then ignore you. I was with them for 2 years before this year, they promote the £200 sign up toolstation voucher, supposedly I missed out on that because I didn't sent my public liability, eventhough I uploaded on the app and emailed them. My account manager Nick, one of the worst guys I've came across, so rude, unprofessional and unhelpful it's embarrassing. I also emailed him previously when I resigned up about uploading my public liability,l, but surprise surprise he was on holiday that week I emailed. Strange thing was no automatic reply saying this or no response when he came back if he was, strange no? Very expensive job leads, where vast majority of the jobs are not even worth your time, would strongly recommend another job leading site like trustatrader etc”

“They are all for the customer and never for the trades person. Waited 10 weeks for a call back after numerous promises. And we have now waited 4 weeks for a refund and still waiting. Very unhelpful staff”

“Was overcharge on repairs and am still waiting for the guaranteed which we have given up on asking. Will not recommend these roofs. Poor workmanship all they wanted was our money.”

“First time user of Checkatrade, extremely satisfied with the repair carried out by Paul. He was very punctual and explained what the fault was, he ordered the part and returned to fit it at a very reasonable price. I would certainly use Paul again and go to Checkatrade for any other type trader.”

“I invested my hard earned funds with this firm early this year with the hope of getting a good Return on my investments. Little did i know this is nothing but a scam ponzi scheme, A colleague at work who introduced me to this company also got scammed and to be honest we were stuck and depressed and there was no other choice or steps we could take to recover our funds because we did not have enough information we needed, I am just glad the terrible nightmare is over as we were able to recover our investments with profits, i would like to share my experience with anyone who might have also been a victim of this scam contact gravcapital’’ ”

“Just take it as a yellow pages of builders. If you look into traders, many have bad reviews on other sites, or their websites include stock pictures and not actual work they carried out. I have not had good experiences with Checkatrade. They say they guarantee their traders' work, but fine print makes it impossible to claim anything. Stay alert.”

“As a checkatrade member for nearly 5 years, I was proud to advertise and use their services. That is until I had my membership revoked due to falsifying reviews. I collected genuine reviews from my customers after each job, sending them a direct link when I sent my invoices to them. I was averaging 2-3 reviews a month. I have never falsified any reviews and now I'm extremely upset due to this being my only form of advertising! I wasn't sent any warning emails or notified of any suspicious activity, just an email to say my account was closed. I have tried to phone them several timesnbut keep getting the same generic response about fake reviews on my profile This has now made me virtually jobless! Edit: To your response, this is the same message I am getting from your team. There has been no investigation into where the ip address is from, nor will you give me the ip address or names of the people that left the reviews. I have a genuine business that valued real reviews. Why would I need to falsify reviews? All my customers are contactable and you refuse to contact them. Edit 2: I was finally able to speak to someone it’s not an ip address issue, as he stated the message from you was a generic response. I had apparently been buying reviews. Why would I jeopardise my only form of advertising with fake reviews? Checkatrade go on the policy of guilty until proven innocent, but never try to find you innocent.”

“I had my roof repaired by the son of Broomhill Roofing (name Chris). Unfortunately it hasn’t been done correctly and I now have water leaking through in two places. I have constantly left messages to Chris and his Dad (Barry) but nobody rings me back. Tried ringing Chris again and he promised to come out yesterday but never turned up and no phone call to explain why. I’m furious and didn’t expect this to happen!! I have had a flat roof done by Dad and no problems.”
