Absolute joke of a service. Left my wife in a live lane with a baby for five hours then sent the wrong recovery truck. The engineer sent out was a loudmouth bully who was rude and aggressive to my wife.pls search elsewhere as the rac are an embarrassment. You have been warned. ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

Joke of a company. Called RAC out to collect my van at 12.30pm, was promised 3 oclock. They arrived at 6.30pm only to take it to a service station where it stayed for a day and a half. After several calls, they promised to deliver it to the chosen garage, first the night of the breakdown, then the next morning, then the evening. FOUR days later, I am still chasing, all I get is a so called ‘manager’ calling me in 45 minutes. I left the AA because I thought the RAC would be better. How wrong could I be. It’s now costing me £100 a day to hire a van. It would have been cheaper and less stressful to pay and get it towed myself. Find another company. The 1 star reviews are not a coincidence.

The absolute worst possible recovery experience of my entire life I had purchased the breakdown cover online and filled in all the necessary online application process including entering my vehicles details I have a Volkswagen Crafter long wheelbase and I use it for camping I had been paying for my breakdown cover for several months confident in the knowledge that if I should break down I would be covered unfortunately when I did break down the RAC inform me that my vehicle was marginally too long and that my policy was invalid they then suggested I pay them £1200 to take me to my home address, I had rung up several recovery companies locally and prices ranged from £350-£550 so the company that I had paid to protect me in the event of a breakdown was now telling me they were not going to recover my vehicle and they wanted to charge me at least £650 on top of any local recovery service 🤯 they left me by the side of the road luckily enough as it happens my girlfriend was with me and she was covered by the AA for her own private vehicle which also covered her as a passenger in any other vehicle my girlfriend used her policy to collect me from the roadside with the AA because my own policy that I paid for with the RAC had abandoned me on and then tried to charge me more than double what any local firm would’ve charged me hadn’t paid them directly I feel like I need to make it my life is work to tell every single person I ever meet ever during the course of my entire life never to join the RAC

I bought two tyres. Next day they phoned me up telling me that my tyres are out of stock. I asked them to cancel my order and refund the money. After 8 days no money refunded. Are you playing with my money and you blocking them for no reason. 0 stars

Absolutely abysmal service every time. Been waiting nearly 24 hours for supposed tow to a garage, am a grandmother, dumped halfway on route at a service station and they have had 20 hours to organise this connection! Answer machine on phone is a ridiculous affair too. Does NOT deliver the service as advertised, despite the mechanics efforts, they are thoroughly let down by the lack of 'organisation'.

2 massive issues ref worst service; 1. I waited 2 nights for rescue as no patrols in a city centre! 2nd day/night 9.5 hours!! Didn't offer me a tow to RAC garage so I had choose my own & in morning the garage couldn't help so I was stuck! They phoned every 2 hours to ask the same Qs about what was wrong! I'm not a mechanic and do you not make notes of my report?! 2. They just took £158 from my account today for auto renewal!! I did not agree I would never go with them again and they won't refund me full amount due to cancellation charges! SCAM !!!!

Been waiting for 3 hours only to find out they send recovery vehicle to the wrong location. This is after I sent them my location, twice. They initially told me I’d be on my way in 45 minutes. Joke of a company

Waited 6hrs yesterday for a pickup truck, RAC didn’t update me on what was happening, they cut you off if you try and call them. When the third party pickup truck eventually arrived, the driver said 6hrs wasn’t that bad! I will be cancelling the RAC today and going back to the AA

My 82 year old father in law broke down, after a somewhat frustrating telephone call speaking to a machine he finally got through, was told 2 hours. Now 5 hours on, not been in touch and still waiting on s roadside in the freezing cold. We will defo be cancelling RAC. I’d highly recommend people go elsewhere 🤬

Following a car breakdown in January do you think it reasonable to wait for 4 hours for someone to turn up ? For it to take 6 days to return your car to your home town/garage ? For it to take 2 months to refund your expenses ? I don't ! Suggest you look elsewhere for cover.

Shocking. Recovery vehicle turned up but couldn't fix issue (not an issue) so had to arrange Recovery. Couldn't do it himself because his tow was broken. Had to wait 3 hours longer for another vehicle to turn up in the freezing cold with a dog in the vehicle. Very unimpressed.

At 1pm on Thursday my car broke down on our way home from Liverpool. We broke down two hours away from home but I wasn't worried as we pay for RAC and have our car insurance with RAC too as have always thought of it as a company I could trust. I was left on the side of the motorway for three hours with my 17 year old daughter. After several phone calls we were eventually towed to the nearest services to meet the driver who would rescue us as far as he could before his driver hours ran out. He dropped us to Strensham services (an hour and a half away from home) at just after 7pm. He had told the RAC what time we would be there so that the link recovery could meet us there. After several phone calls (from me, I have had no phone calls from RAC apart from the initial two calls when we were on the side of the road, and the phone call I will go on to explain about in a bit) it was finally decided after midnight to send us home by taxi and our car would follow on. My daughter and I were left at this services for hours and after all the shops (apart from one) had closed. We were cold and alone! We finally arrived home by taxi just after 2am. I then phoned yesterday to try and find out when my car would be delivered, no real answer. It is now 9:35pm on Saturday (we broke down at 1pm on Thursday!) and I still do not have my car back. I tried RAC again earlier (again, no contact at all from RAC about what is going on, all coming from me phoning each time!) and they seemed to think it would be here between 8 and 9pm tonight. Still not here so I am going to have to phone AGAIN! They left two woman stranded for many hours while my husband who had a pacemaker fitted less than two weeks ago and my other daughter were at home worried about us. I have chronic pain and arthritis which means I can't be cold for for long periods of time. Being left in a car in the cold (snow and ice on Thursday) has really not helped at all. I honestly can't believe what we have been put through. I have been emotional ever since and still the nightmare is not over as I still don't actually have my car back! Extremely disappointed in a company I thought were reliable. I completely understand we have been in strange times during the pandemic a day lack of drivers in this country, but lack of communication from this company cannot be excused at all! And if they are struggling to provide a service, stop taking people's money! Extremely disappointed.

6 hours after being told I was priority being in a dangerous location and assistance would come in 40 minutes I am still waiting ! Just texts and tel calls back and forth giving numerous excuses ! It’s freezing cold but that matters not though I have to wait outside the car !

Absolutely terrible service, you don’t even speak to a human being anymore to report an incident, you are just sent a link to report online, and I was told after submitting mine that it would be a 4 hour 30 minute wait, alone on a back road at night in the middle of February in the freezing cold. Told you’ll be sent ‘regular text updates’ which just say they’re ‘on the case’ and not to call them with no actual indication of time. I did call anyway and after being on hold for 30 minutes spoke to someone. By this point a random passer by had stopped and offered to change my tyre (after popping it going down a pot hole) so I luckily only ended up being stranded for about an hour - no thanks to the RAC. They’re pre recorded message on their phone line is that they’re ‘extremely busy this summer’ … IT’S FEBRUARY!!! Shocking

Waited over 6 hours last night to be told it could be another 2 hours waiting time, which would have brought it to 2am… had to leave the car and get a taxi home, ring them this morning to arrange meeting at my car to be told it could be another 6 hours, even though last night they told me I would be prioritised…. Once they have towed me to a garage today I will be cancelling my breakdown with these people…. On every alert message they were using the excuse of the pandemic…. Which has long gone now!!!

4 hours in a freezing cold car, flat battery (that's all, 2 minute job). Text updates every 30 minutes to say "we're busy, we'll keep you updated". Phoned them after the 7th or 8th noncommittal text to be told "we're really busy, no idea when someone will get there". Took my battery off, taxi home, battery on charge and I'll get a taxi back tomorrow to put it back on. Last time I ever give the rac any money for their substandard not fit for purpose "service". AVOID
