“I recently made a purchase of a book on eBay. After 3 days, I had still not had even a 'dispatched' mail, so I contacted them. I got a standard reply, pointing out that it took them 2 to 5 days to dispatch books! They showed 5 in stock as well (which I do not believe). With the weekend coming up, I cancelled the order, and placed it with Amazon instead (about 6PM at night). It was in my hands the next day at lunchtime. Although Amazon was about a pound more (£27.50) than the eBay seller, it was truly worth it for the excellent service.”

“I ordered my Christmas presents on Amazon. Delivery date was 24/12. Just on time for Christmas. Perfect. Well, on the morning of the 23rd, I get the following message from Amazon delivery services: attempted delivery failed. What attempt I wonder? No one showed up and nothing came on the 23rd. I called customer service. They promised a new delivery would be made on the 24th and I would have my daughter's Christmas presents on time. Same message from Amazon delivery services: attempted delivery failed. I was on the phone with Amazon customer service until 10.30 that night. A finally got hold of a manager. When he checked the delivery log, he found out that NO ATTEMPT AT DELIVERING ANYTHING WHATSOVER WAS MADE NEITHER ON THE 23rd NOR ON THE 24th... And of course, no delivery is made on the 25th... Today is February 20th. I am still waiting for Amazon to get back to me with an explanation or a commercial gesture... Just Anything. And by the way, I have a Premium account....”
