It's partly my own fault. I've had a few bad experiences now but kept using them for some reason. Final straw now though. The first fridge freezer and washing machine I bought from them broke down in less than 3 years both within a week. I put that down to the cheaper manufacturers we used. The replacement fridge freezer arrived and my wife had accidentally bought an integrated instead of freestanding. Even after my mother explained the problem, the delivery driver shrugged and did nothing to help, and as a result, we are now stuck with a fridge freezer with no handles to open the doors, that looks terrible. The replacement washing machine arrived and I had paid for disconnection of the old one and removal of it and connection of the new one. Now I've had a call from my wife saying they couldn't disconnect the old one or remove it, or connect the new one. They gave some useless excuse about some little plastic piece missing from one of the connectors and not wanting to damage the plumbing of the house. I know all the pieces needed are there as I plumbed in the original when they again failed to do it. It took 5 minutes. It could be done with a couple basic tools. I just think their delivery drivers are bone lazy with no skills and horrible customer service mentality. They would clearly do anything to avoid any extra work. Pretty website but sub-standard goods and consistently shoddy customer service. Never again.

I placed an order on the 10th may 2016. I ordered Indesit I5VSHK_BK electric cooker. The oven didn’t work properly so I decided the return the product. To my surprise I was told that once the product has been opened and used ao.com will refund only 50% of the price. Although you can read from Ao.com website part of the Return Policy Make an exchange If the product isn't what you expected, maybe it's a bit too big or small for your home, we'll happily arrange an exchange for you. Ao.com employees explained to me that they will make the exchange, but I still will lose 50% of the value of the product I want to exchange. To make a summary, as soon as a product from ao.com enters your home you can not return it or exchange it unless you want to loss half of the price

I placed an order on the 11th may 2016, ft a belling F550EDOPC_6C electric cooker, I also booked in for connection. My original delivery date was for the 3rd June. I received a phone call from yourselves on the 12th May telling me if i cancelled installation and got my own electrician I could have it delivered on Saturday 14th May. I was more than happy to go ahead with this, as I would receive my items earlier. So I arranged for an electrician, I have had my old cooker removed, fully expecting my new cooker on Saturday. Now imagine my outrage, when I check my emails to see I have received one from you today at 5.30pm saying my cooker is OUT OF STOCK! No phone calls, no text messages, an email. Less then 24 hours before I am supposed to receive my new cooker. I am disgusted by this level of service. I did not arrange an earlier delivery, you called me! What kind of company calls a customer, tells them they can have their order earlier, gets them to rearrange an electrician and then emails to say out of stock! Would you be happy with this service? But not only am I disgusted with this, but I am appalled by your customer service team that I spoke to over the phone. When I read the email, I decided to call, to see if this was some kind of mistake, because let's face it, it's ridiculous. I was told over the phone, that my delivery would now be for Wednesday 18th may. Now bearing in mind I have discarded my old cooker, ready for my new one, so this would mean 5 days with no way of cooking for my 2 small children or my husband and myself. 5 DAYS! What is their solution " we will transfer £30 to your bank, so you can purchase takeaway for your family for the next 5 days" are you kidding me?? First of all takeaway for my children for 5 days is absolutely diabolical, what kind of parent do you think I am? I would never give my children takeaways for 5 days. And seriously, in what world could you ever buy 5 days worth of takeaways for £30! I would probably need nearer to £30 per day! Can you buy your family a takeaway every night for almost a week on £30? Not only that, I was then offered alternative cookers, and this is how your customer service team tried to sell them to me, " you can have a cheaper cooker that we have in stock delivered tomorrow if you like, but I wouldn't recommend it, as it's not very good" REALLY?? Or "we have another one that is also available, but you would have to pay £200 more" is that how you get more money out of people? Do you not have to have common sense to man the phones at ao?? Then to top it off I had a fridge freezer meant to be delivered today between 7-12. I've been awake since 6.30 to have a Facebook message no phone call to say someone has cancelled it for today. So now have no food, fridge freezer or cooker and 2 young kids. Unbelievable stay away from them

Recieved a dishwasher that was broken. Unfortunately AO policy is that it's not their problem and you have to claim under the manufacturers warranty. Totally not interested in an exchange or your money back. Buyer beware they are good when things work but awful when there is a problem

I had 3 broken "stoves" cookers delivered over a period of 2 weeks Customer service! At a cost of £180.00 in electrician fees to connect said cookers £34.00 in phone calls and take -aways When i asked for refund it was denied repeatedly by John They sent two Stoves engineers to fix the cookers even tho i had stated i would not accept a fixed cooker The problem we customers have is there is no complaints department as management and staff are close working colleagues working of a script which i pointed out to a manager when he used it twice in our conversation. Ao were not customer friendly and took no responsibilty for the companies failings Personally i would not recommend nor use this company again those sugar sweet words are nothing without action

I bought the Candy Grandò evo washing machine. It developed a fault within 20 months. A quick google told us it's a known fault the machine is notorious for yet AO have given us a abrupt it's out of warranty, it's our responsibility to pay for an engineer! Some of the worst, snottiest customer service we have ever experienced. Next time we'll stick with a reputable retailer, AO.com are to be avoided, they do business in a shoddy way devoid of ethics and any form of decent customer service.

Refused to refund on a washer just out of warranty on a known manufacturing fault. Insisted we buy an insurance policy to get it repaired which was then cancelled after the engineer had visited and was allegedly ordering parts. Focused on customer happiness my backside.

Shockingly bad customer service for a 21st century company, which you wont realise until you have a problem. Very argumentative unapologetic customer service rep. This company can only go down the pan. Avoid at all cost.

ordered today, having just moved into a new place and awaiting my debit card to update where its registered to. paid out £600, called back 2 hours later sorry we've taken your money and some "security team" has decided now we have your money that we are not going to honor the order. You will get your money back in 5 days. DO not use AO.com, go buy from a reputable dealer such as curry's, Argos, john Lewis.

I ordered a washine machine from AO, to be delivered and installed. When it arrived the installation man pulled out my old washing machine and informed me that he was unable to install the new machine as my old one was hard wired. I was disappointed obviously, but understood that he could not do it. I asked for his advice and what I could do, to which he told me that I had to switch my electricity off before I installed it myself!!!! I told him that this made me feel very uncomfortable! He made me feel very awkward. The driver asked me if I would still like the machine and I said yes, but need advice on what needed to be done, as I didn't want to have to pay a fortune out for someone to install it. I spoke to customer service who were able to give me some idea of who I would need to install the machine. After I put the phone down, my 18 month old son started to cry so i left the room momentarily to tend to him. During this time, the delivery guys brought the new machine in, dumped it in front of my oven, left my old machine pulled right out, and left the house. I couldn't even get into the kitchen, so I ran outside to call them back but they had left. I was very upset and called customer services, who were to be fair very nice about it. I spoke to someone called Terrance. A while later I was able to get the machine electrics installed, but called AO to come and plumb the machine and I spoke to Irfan, who was beyond unhelpful. "Well they're not qualified to install it so what do you expect" was what I was greeted with, missing the point completely. I asked to speak to his manager, who incidentally, never called me. Later on, I called and spoke to Genevieve. Again, initially helpful, but after a while I became less so, using the old "you should have read the terms and conditions, as we cannot install hard wired machines". I understand that they could not install the machine, the point I am making is that the delivery guys dropped the machine in the middle of my kitchen having beforehand pulled my old machine out. My kitchen really is not that big, and all day yesterday I was a unable to get to my cooker. I explained this to Genevieve - who informed me that she is senior staff, and she said "couldn't the electrician move the machine?" As if it's his job! Needless to say, AO informed me that they were able to plumb the machine the next day, I specified morning, although (of course) they could only do 3-7pm. After being on hold an average of 10 minutes a time, while staff "read your notes", I - out of courtesy - cancelled this installation and called a plumber. But as the communication is so excellent from this company at 2pm (yes one hour earlier than expected no less) the delivery driver called me to see where I was. Another message not passed on. So AO, I will never be using you again, and I have made a complaint about Irfan, Genevieve, Ngimbi and the other driver.

Bought a washer dryer from AO. At first service seemed outstanding. Paid extra for next day delivery, the machine unpacking and for our machine to be taken away. After 32 days the machine violently kangaroo'd across the kitchen floor. Asked AO is we could exchange for a new machine even if that meant we had to pay more. AO insisted on an engineer to come out. They said we'd get a 3 hour time slot sent to us the day before. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. Ended up taking the entire day off. The engineer said the machine was fine and that we'd overloaded it. Although it's a new machine it is exactly the same model as our old one which we had for 10 years. I'm sure I would know whether or not I'd overloaded it!!!! Patronizing or what? AO will not let us exchange the product as we have had it for more than 30 days. Next time I'll buy a second hand reconditioned one, as the old adage of "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" certainly doesn't hold weight any more. Thank you for reading my rave!!!!

Just don't make a mistake when you order. I ordered a hoover for my daughter for Xmas. Unfortunately someone else bought her one. So 3 weeks after ordering I tried to return the still boxed hoover but was informed I could not return it so I have wasted £94.50. Admittedly the company policy for returns is 2 weeks but It would have been a nice goodwill gesture for the company to take it back. I will not be recommending buying anything from this company & will in future buy from a company like John Lewis who give good customer service.

I purchased an electric oven from ao.com. The experience started out great and very professional. I was asked to specify any delivery requirements (which floor, parking challenges etc.). I then received a follow up call to ensure AO.com had all the necessary details. I informed them of limitations where I live (busy street, no lift etc.) and then I assured me there would be no problem. I then arranged to work from home on said delivery date. On the delivery date, I received a call 30 minutes before my estimated delivery time from the driver who was at the wrong address. I explained to him where I lived and started berating me because there was no parking on the street. He then told me it was my responsibility to arrange parking for him and because I hadn't, he would call AO.com. I received an apologetic call from AO.com delivery team informing me that the driver was unable to deliver on the Friday and they should have spotted it. I was annoyed because I'd already explained the logistics twice and on top of that the driver was incredibly rude. I was told the only thing they could do was arrange for a Sunday delivery more than a week away. I decided to mull it over the weekend as I was extremely irritated at the time. I called back Monday and decided to arrange delivery. I suggested to the AO.com staff for them to give me 4 hour delivery window (normally a 20 pound charge) given the situation. She simply informed me that it was impossible and I would receive a text Sunday morning at 6 am informing me of the approximate delivery time. I then asked whether, at the very least they could send me the text the Saturday evening. Her response was a curt 'no' and on numerous occassions she simply said, 'I've already explained to you how our delivery process works so I don't know what you expect me to do.' Look, I know this problem wasn't directly hers but I just found the entire situation absurd. At no point did she offer any apologies/sympathy and never offered any compensation however small (i.e. is it really that hard to give someone a smaller delivery window when you offer this service at a charge?). It's incredulous. I was so paranoid about my situation after this experience. They convinced me that somehow it was 'my fault' that I live in Central London! The someone referred me to John Lewis, telling me they wouldn't mess around. I had to wait longer for my delivery but sure enough it was as smooth as can be. My advice? Don't waste your time with these guys. They keep costs low by outsourcing deliveries to third parties (as I'm sure many do) and pass on costs to delivery drivers, hence the bitter attitude. You just can't be sure of the quality of service.

Having found a Beko fridge freezer on their website for 624 with free delivery. We decided to go with AO. Recieved a call 1 week later to say that the price quoted was incorrect and could we please pay an additional 120. This is ridiculous told them NO and to cancel the order. Buyers Beware !!!
