Waiting on a refund for 4 months for a cancelled cruise. Celebrity have dealt with all refunds so why do I not have the refund. I normally book with Trailfinders and will in future as their customer service is excellent. Barrhead travel is a joke their failure to deal with refunds borders on criminal

I have been waiting since April for a refund after having 3 flights home to the UK from Thailand cancelled by airlines in March. After months of Barrhead ignoring emails I finally got a response & was promised I would receive the refund first week in October. Still not received anything and my emails are being ignored again. My branch in Newcastle upon Tyne has closed permanently with all staff redundant, apart from the manager who has been working from home. She was helpful for a few weeks but has now gone silent. I can't believe they have the nerve to advertise worry-free holidays promising all sorts when they're holding on to customers' money. They've had a fortune from me in the past but obviously loyalty doesn't count.

Like everyone else awaiting refund back to my bank account Only time any activity when you say taking to court which I am doing shortly What you can do is put complaint to monopoly and mergers authority They will investigate company and lack of refunds if enough put complaint in They did this to tui made them give date when all refunds would be actioned

Like many other people it would seem, Barrhead just don't like communicating with their customers: even those that have used them for years in the name of loyalty. Booked a holiday for July and only found out it was cancelled because we phoned them to check. We were told the refund would take up to 12 weeks and at 14 we're still waiting. We've had to chase every step of the way. There was a problem processing the cancellation, TUI haven't given us the money back yet, thank you for your patience etc. The only decent correspondence is with their Twitter page and unfortunately they are powerless to provide actual help. I just want what I'm owed and no more lies Barrhead. Couldn't with any conscience ever recommend them to anyone ever again.

Tried to support a local company by purchasing my holiday via their Falkirk branch. Barrhead have very strong policies in place regarding customer payment and holiday cancellation which they enforce, no debate, no discussion full stop. They have proved impossible to contact and really only want to see you in the store by appointment to book another holiday. The only letter I have had from then in 6 months is telling me they are unable to reclaim the flight costs and this will need us to complete lots of paperwork. We of course do not have these details because guess what the flights were booked by Barhead. They ask for passport details which they already have! This is just delaying tactics. I would encourage everyone to follow legal proceedings going via the ombudsman. Really poor performance Barhead.

Barrhead do not deserve even one star. Why can’t I give zero? Because I have booked holidays with them over the years, I have been patient, and held a degree of loyalty (obviously misguided!!) to Barrhead. Otherwise I would have posted a review weeks ago. In February, my holiday balance was paid in full to Barrhead for a Riviera Travel break. I was due to go early June. I checked with Riviera Travel, other than the small deposit, they received nothing from Barrhead. I and presumably Barrhead knew that due to Jet 2 cancelling flights, the holiday would be cancelled. By the way, Barrhead has not yet told me my holiday was cancelled. It’s been Impossible to contact them except for pathetic automated, untrue responses......not if I wanted to book another holiday though!! I don’t even want to spend this time complaining about them but I must do something to warn others. I have used Barrhead to support a Scottish business and to deal with someone directly face to face. (Yes ironic!!) I believe that Barrhead are, and for weeks, have been illegally withholding my money. Under any other circumstances, is that not called theft? Please think carefully before using Barrhead. I’m appalled.

Booked Cunard cruise From Cape Town to UK for April - Covid got in the way and we decided on cash refund rather than Cunard credit. Barrhead were always good in the past but this time..........disgraceful. Understandably hard to contact back in March but have never improved or been proactive in the slightest. After a tense exchange of emails and one telephone call they have gone silent since about May and my refund never happened. They were reluctant to allow refund and even said when Cunard pays them they have to give me credit voucher...........outrageous? They went on to say Barrhead are more solvent than Cunard and a voucher is best.........really stupid? I was then told a refund might be possible but only in July - well it’s September now Barrhead and still nothing from you - thought you might have gone out of business - you will soon if everyone like me withdraws our business! I referred matter to Amex and they refunded me in 2 days - they are now chasing Barrhead for the cash - a useful route that I hadn’t expected to work but it has. I am awaiting some news from Barrhead and an apology.......fat chance! Ignore this company if you want a smooth experience in a crisis - others are managing to maintain customer confidence and loyalty but this lot deserve to die!

My husband and I booked an Alaskan cruise and Two Days on the Rocky Mountaineer Train in Canada departing in June 2020 with Barrhead Travel. Barrhead travel have behaved totally appallingly throughout. We received one phone call in July , 10 days after we had been scheduled to arrive home , asking us if we would like to cancel our holiday ? Cunard had in March advised us the cruise was cancelled , but we had received no contact from Barrhead Travel . Totally unbelievable that I should be asked such a ridiculous question. We have made numerous attempts to contact them prior and since then by e mail and telephone and letter , demanding our money back. All have been ignored. We have raised the matter with ABTA who have been no help whatsoever and have achieved nothing. Barrhead Travel is a total disgrace and should be avoided at all costs. We deeply regret using them and never will again . They have made already difficult times worse for people , with the added stress of trying to get money refunded. From choice I would give them NO stars at all , but in order to write this review one is the minimum I can give them. Zero would be a true rating.

Booked to go to Canada and Alaskan cruise on 8th May . Informed by cruise company on the 31st March that it was cancelled. Contacted Barrhead on numerous occasions and 5 months after cruise was cancelled and nearly 4 months from departure date still no refund.

After trying for a refund for months finally was recommended to get in touch with Tina King from Saltcoats branch and she sorted refund out within the week, we had been going round in circles with everything and getting different stories. So disappointed with lack of communication from Barrhead travel on the whole and don’t think we would book with them again due to that experience.

Booked a holiday on 08/01/2020 , was due to depart Birmingham on 20/07/2020 to Portugal for 10 nights. Was never contacted by BARRHEAD TRAVEL that this holiday was cancelled. I had to check the Statius of my flights my self. Managed to speak to someone about on 27/07/2020 & they started my refund ,I’m still waiting for the refund. Have tried phoning sending emails approx 20 of each , Guess what no reply or response & no refund, tried going through resolver not herd a cheap from them either , if you email them about making a new booking the reply to your email within the matter of hours . Once they have your money they basically don’t want anything else to do with you. JUST AN ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES OF A COMPANY , I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN OF RECOMMEND THEM . DISASTER STAY AWAY

After a 4 month wait where BHT had failed to reply to most of my many comms where they sent generic insincere stock emails instead to fob me off, I raised a claim with Resolver. I was refunded within one week. It's a sad day that a company cares more about the impact that a 3rd party can create than their own customer. I will NEVER, EVER use Barrhead Travel again. Everyone should claim through Resolver to get their refund. If you are waiting on Barrhead Travel refunding you might get it on time for Christmas

Waiting since mid March for refund for cancelled cruise. Phone call received 25th May asking for bank details then nothing. Made complaint via Resolver on 22nd July, email from Barrhead on 24th then phone call from them on 30th saying refund had been processed. Money in the bank on 3rd August. Can't say for certain Resolver was the solution but worth a try. Good luck!

Barrhead gave good service while taking our holiday booking and our money. This all changed Following the cancellation of our holiday due to COVID, the service has been trrrible, almost non existent. We paid in full in Jan 2020 to holiday on April 10th 2020, received a call before we were due to fly to say our holiday was cancelled and we would get a refund but they weren't sure when. We have been waiting about 5 months and nothing. You have to wait at least month for a reply to an email and not all emails are replied to. Those which are responded to are generic ones asking for patience. They are taking new bookings but haven't refunded holidays, even those they have had the money back from the external companies like Jet2. How are they allowed to get away with this?

Was due to travel 29th june, received email 22nd may stating holiday cancelled and someone would be in contact, surprise surprise no one was, on the 8th july I emailed there CEO explaining not happy with length of time waiting on refund and no one was responding to emails. On the 9th july received a call from vicki at barrhead travel in glasgow telling me refund was getting processed via bacs 3 to 5 working days, after 6 working days I messaged barrheadvyravel, was told they could see the refund request and would escalate to the acts team, did I get a reply no, yet again I call store once opend, eventually manager fraser phones me said he would chase this up, he then came back and said waiting on jet 2 paying them, I contacted jet 2 directly and was told by them they refunded barrhead travel on the 15th may, they should have received the money within 10 working days, worse case scenario should have had it by 24th june, and if they were saying they had not received it then they should be chasing it up not me, but there was no record of this getting done therefore indicating they have the money, when I told barrhead travel this manager Fraser said he would look into this, on monday just passed he sent email still adamant jet 2 haven't paid them which I do not believe for a second, and they are just holding onto the money illegally, absolutely sick and tired of them, will never ever book again with them, as there nothing but lying thieving gits. I have reported to trading standards, left reviews, emailed ceo a second time no response, I have now raised a complaint with abta, i still do not have my money back, surely someone needs to investigate this company.

Like many others I am still waiting on a cancelled trip booked through Barrhead being refunded. This trip was cancelled on 18th March as we had a vulnerable person in our party. 11 weeks later on 2nd June I received a claims form which was slightly confusing as I thought the refund process would have been started in March or at least April, spoke to Barrhead on phone and was advised refund would be 4 – 6 weeks. Chased Barrhead on 7th July and was told refund would be 6 – 8 weeks and she denied saying 4 – 6 weeks was the lead time. Chased again yesterday and was told to take it up with Shearings insurer as Barrhead had paid Shearings and Barrhead did not have money to pay me the money back which is more than a bit alarming considering it is just less than a grand they owe me. Just to be clear Barrhead – I paid my money to you and therefore you owe me the refund not whoever you paid the money to. Really disappointed with the lack of customer service and the passing of the buck 18 weeks later. Would never book with Barrhead again.

Shocking lack of customer care from this bunch of charlatans masquerading as a reputable company. I am STILL awaiting a refund for a holiday cancelled in April. After numerous emails went ignored, and phone calls unanswered, I finally spoke to someone in the Aberdeen branch 10 days ago. This helpful character could ‘only offer his apologies’ - well you know something, you can keep your apologies as I want my cash back in my bank. We booked a royal Caribbean cruise departing on April 25th, it was cancelled by royal Caribbean in March, I requested a refund on April 9th. Having had to contact Barrhead myself as they never Even told me my cruise was cancelled. Since then? Nothing. No updates, no courtesy call to keep me mollified, zilch. The guy in Aberdeen told me Royal Caribbean were the issue. So I called royal Caribbean to find out what was happening. Only to discover they refunded the £2200 to a Barrhead MasterCard in May, TWO MONTHS AGO. To say I am furious is an understatement. I feel like I’ve been taken for a fool, any good Will I felt towards them has evaporated. Here was me concerned for their jobs! Yet they have zero regard for their customers. No business can survive this level of duplicity, none deserve too. Not only are Barrhead Travel acting illegally, they have destroyed Any faith I had in them. In non covid times they are possibly a serviceable travel company, however, they have shown their true forM in how they’ve dealt with this crisis. They are either completely incompetent or are duplicitously deliberately withholding refunds to shore up their failing company. I fear both. Book with them at your peril. If you expect to be treated as a valued customer go elsewhere. They do not deserve your custom.

We should have gone on holiday on 9th May. We still haven't had our money back and were never actually told that our holiday had been cancelled. Jet 2 say that they never received our money from them, therefore Barrhead are just holding on to our money. Do not reply to emails An appalling company, pity you have to give 1 star as they don't even deserve it, they should be investigated.

No communication from Barrhead Travel despite my cruise having been cancelled over 3 months ago. The cruise company have issued credit certificates to Barrhead who have no intention of forwarding them on to me. I anticipate that only legal action will force Barrhead to refund my £4000 cruise fare. They have made a commercial decision to focus on selling new bookings and delay refunds for cancelled bookings as long as possible.

I had a cruise booked for 25th June still waiting on refund 6weeks later yet cruise line telling me refund has been sent but Barrhead can’t tell you anything.and that’s me dealing with a manager phoned on Thursday told would get call back heard nothing .feel this company is giving people the run around won’t be booking other holiday with Barrhead again .
