Like many others I am still waiting on a cancelled trip booked through Barrhead being refunded. This trip was cancelled on 18th March as we had a vulnerable person in our party. 11 weeks later on 2nd June I received a claims form which was slightly confusing as I thought the refund process would have been started in March or at least April, spoke to Barrhead on phone and was advised refund would be 4 – 6 weeks. Chased Barrhead on 7th July and was told refund would be 6 – 8 weeks and she denied saying 4 – 6 weeks was the lead time. Chased again yesterday and was told to take it up with Shearings insurer as Barrhead had paid Shearings and Barrhead did not have money to pay me the money back which is more than a bit alarming considering it is just less than a grand they owe me. Just to be clear Barrhead – I paid my money to you and therefore you owe me the refund not whoever you paid the money to. Really disappointed with the lack of customer service and the passing of the buck 18 weeks later. Would never book with Barrhead again.

Shocking lack of customer care from this bunch of charlatans masquerading as a reputable company. I am STILL awaiting a refund for a holiday cancelled in April. After numerous emails went ignored, and phone calls unanswered, I finally spoke to someone in the Aberdeen branch 10 days ago. This helpful character could ‘only offer his apologies’ - well you know something, you can keep your apologies as I want my cash back in my bank. We booked a royal Caribbean cruise departing on April 25th, it was cancelled by royal Caribbean in March, I requested a refund on April 9th. Having had to contact Barrhead myself as they never Even told me my cruise was cancelled. Since then? Nothing. No updates, no courtesy call to keep me mollified, zilch. The guy in Aberdeen told me Royal Caribbean were the issue. So I called royal Caribbean to find out what was happening. Only to discover they refunded the £2200 to a Barrhead MasterCard in May, TWO MONTHS AGO. To say I am furious is an understatement. I feel like I’ve been taken for a fool, any good Will I felt towards them has evaporated. Here was me concerned for their jobs! Yet they have zero regard for their customers. No business can survive this level of duplicity, none deserve too. Not only are Barrhead Travel acting illegally, they have destroyed Any faith I had in them. In non covid times they are possibly a serviceable travel company, however, they have shown their true forM in how they’ve dealt with this crisis. They are either completely incompetent or are duplicitously deliberately withholding refunds to shore up their failing company. I fear both. Book with them at your peril. If you expect to be treated as a valued customer go elsewhere. They do not deserve your custom.

We should have gone on holiday on 9th May. We still haven't had our money back and were never actually told that our holiday had been cancelled. Jet 2 say that they never received our money from them, therefore Barrhead are just holding on to our money. Do not reply to emails An appalling company, pity you have to give 1 star as they don't even deserve it, they should be investigated.

No communication from Barrhead Travel despite my cruise having been cancelled over 3 months ago. The cruise company have issued credit certificates to Barrhead who have no intention of forwarding them on to me. I anticipate that only legal action will force Barrhead to refund my £4000 cruise fare. They have made a commercial decision to focus on selling new bookings and delay refunds for cancelled bookings as long as possible.

I had a cruise booked for 25th June still waiting on refund 6weeks later yet cruise line telling me refund has been sent but Barrhead can’t tell you anything.and that’s me dealing with a manager phoned on Thursday told would get call back heard nothing .feel this company is giving people the run around won’t be booking other holiday with Barrhead again .

Company just hides behind the Covid crisis with only ansaphone message with email address for contact- which they refuse to open and reply. Stay away from this company. No reply in over 3 months- assume company will go bust soon- and deservedly so

Won’t deal with them again - extremely rude and unhelpful. Booked and paid for holiday in full in February, continuous emails to support and store brought no response. Attended store yesterday and spoke to a very rude and unhelpful staff member. Only started reading emails yesterday!!! Advised if we cancel holiday will lose everything - will now be raising formal complaint.

My advice to anyone about to Book a holiday with this company is don’t. They are unprofessional and make you jump through hoops to get a refund . My daughter booked a holiday with Barrhead travel to travel on 24th April 2020 to turkey she paid in full. My daughter passed away before she was due to go and this company will Not refund me . They are maybe go to court I’m a grieving mother and to be dragged through court is the last thing I need. They are unsympathetic as well as unhelpful and rude .

They have had our money since February....we were due to fly to Greece on June 4th...we have had no response from them at all...not even to confirm cancellation of holiday even though I know this would be the case I did expect contact from them....I've been emailing....i get nothing back. I've tried calling....just cuts out...no chance of speaking to anyone. I did get an automated message of Facebook asking me to be patient....they are a joke!! Quick enough to take peoples hard earned money...its an absolute disgrace and I will never use them again.

We were due to fly to tenerife on the 18th June. Was told by staff at the Port Glasgow travel agent where we booked that a voucher would be offered if we re-booked for a later date. We were also told by staff that they could not guarantee that we would receive a refund, so wee took the decision in March to cancel, with the loss of deposit. Since found out that a full refund is guaranteed, so annoyed about this as well.Initially we had email contact to arrange this, but absolutely nothing since. It is approaching 4 months now since we cancelled and not so much of an email since. Barrhead travel were quick enough to take our payment, but not so good to refund. We fully understand the current situation, but 4 months is ridiculous.. Come on ...I have used you many times but you have definitely not performed as professionally as other companies.

My holiday was cancelled in March due to coved 19. I was due to travel on 16th April. I am still awaiting a cash refund. No customer service at all .I did have contact 3 weeks ago when I was told we would get a refund but not to the original payment option. they took my husbands bank account number and sort code . I wrongly thought we would be getting the £6250 back. I have been told today It could be another 12 weeks. That would mean waiting 26 weeks for a refund. They are holding my money illegally Please steer clear of this company. I bet if you wanted to book a holiday they would be over you like a rash

.my partner and myself have had it with barrhead i got intouch with them fhrough their facebook messageing service got plenty reolies from them only be told theyre waiting on jet2 paying them and im on a priority waiting list for my refund our holiday was in june barrhead cancelled in april we hsd paid full holiday im on a priority waiting list for our refund im not happy with this company tui has already refunded my friend and myself for a cancelled cruise we were not traveling to sept. 2020 tui refunded our cruise money back BARRHEAD . Is completely messing with customers refunds shocking and ive no sympathy for them they are holding our money unlawfully

I’m absolutely disgusted by the treatment I’ve received from Barrhead travel Clydebank. My daughter booked and paid a holiday to turkey for April 2020 , my daughter passed away in March, I was told to bring the death certificate for a refund by the manageress Claire , now they are telling me I must also pay for a lawyers letter to prove I’m next of kin. The letter will cost £125 plus vat . The assistant manager mark is rude and unhelpful. Absolute disgrace the way this company treated me .

We were due to go to Benidorm on the 10th of May for a special birthday celebration - there was a group of ten of us and unfortunately I was the only one in the group That didn’t book with Jet2 - all my friends have been refunded and I just received a call from Barrhead today (13th July) I thought this was my chance to draw a line under this and get my money back - not so - I paid with a credit card so expect the money should go back on that credit card - Apparently not that easy as wanted a sort code and account number ? Never been asked for them before as don’t have such a thing for credit cards - was given the impression that I was the only person who had paid by credit card but they would try anyway with my credit card details - surprise surprise it wouldn’t work - stated to me that I could leave it till their shops reopen and go in then ( given the news that shops and jobs are likely to go not a good option) - I checked with my credit card provider about the request for sort code and account number - they verified only card details should be required ? I have a chargeback dispute running so one way or another I will see my money again. Very disappointing

My parents were due to go on a final cruise back in March, however this was cancelled on March 11th due to the coronavirus. We are now in July and they have still not received their refund from Barrhead Travel. The cruise company Fred Olsen, refunded the money to Barrhead back in May but are withholding these funds and even though Dad has sent numerous emails, they haven't even had the decency to send him a personal response! To say that I am incensed is an understatement. Dad is 96, Mum is 88 and has Alzheimers. This was their last chance to go on a cruise with mum's declining health. He was an RAF pilot in the second world war and has used savings to pay for this cruise. £8000 that is not being refunded to a man who is almost 100 and he has now got the added pressure of having to consider consulting a lawyer. It's disgusting. Barrhead Travel - feel free to send me a response!

I was due to go to Fuengirola on 29th May & to date have never officially been told it was cancelled!! Emails are merely given an automated reply and phones are off!! I originally wanted to change this holiday to 2020 but now feel I'm better requesting a refund & booking with another travel agent..... I know there are to be some staff redundancies but think this might not have been necessary if you had shown some loyalty to your customers!!! And I'm interested to know how customers who booked for August, Sept onwards can be dealt with before holiday departure dates of March, April etc. Very disappointed, was really happy with service in Newcastle store!!!

We are due to fly to Spain on 4th August for 11 nights. Have contacted Barrhead Travel on five separate occasions now, each time leaving multiple weeks in between.. STILL no response. It is now under four weeks before we are due to fly and we have no idea whether or not our holiday has been cancelled. WE DO KNOW that our flights have been cancelled as spoke to a VERY HELPFUL TUI representative directly who was happy to confirm for us. We’ve also spoken directly with our hotel in Spain who were also very helpful and able to confirm the current status of our booking. It’s utterly shocking that your customers are having to do all the leg work themselves in order to find out what the hell is going on and whether to prepare for a holiday (with a 6 year old in tow) or not! All we want is confirmation that our holiday has been cancelled and our money back, regardless of how long the refund process takes! We’ve travelled with Barrhead a couple of times before and couldn’t fault, what WAS, their excellent customer service - never again!!

Dont even deserve one star. Been waiting 4 months for a refund. My advice, contact Martin Lewis moneysaving website. They have only just appeared on his refunds from Hell list. Second piece of advice, register a complaint with the CMA - Competition and Markets Agency and report Barrhead Travel. If they get enough complaints, CMA will take them to court. By law you are due a refund within 14 days of a cancellation of one or more parts of your holiday are cancelled. They are continuing to flout the law by not issuing refunds.

Holiday for June cancelled by Barrhead due to vivid. I appreciate they say they are waiting for Jet2 etc to refund them first then we will get a refund. Lots of people have had refunds from Jet2 etc very quickly so I do not understand why this is the case. Lack of service/ contact is unacceptable. I will NEVER book with them again
