Beer itself was good, but I paused my subscription for a couple of months, and they still charged and tried to ship me the beer. And had to wait 5 minutes on a call to them- what respectable company that isn't trying to scam you won't let you cancel online? Beer itself: 4/5, customer service: 0/5

I've had few boxes from Beer 52. Compared their prices of c. £28 for 8 beers, they are massively overpriced. My main issue is that they have made it very difficult to cancel in the same way you sign up. You can only cancel by way of a phone call, so you have to be free to speak, able to get through to them and sit through someone trying to persuade you to stay before you can leave. I have attempted to call the number they give to cancel multiple times a day for weeks, and all I get is a recorded message saying all of their agents are busy, no place in a queue, no going into a system. Just that message (which costs me money to hear) and then it hangs up. So I emailed, within 28 days, to cancel. Despite not yet having dispatched the next case, they still sent it and charged me for it. I do not want it and they will not accept a return, collect it, allow me to send it back or refund me for it. This is despite extensive correspondence on the matter with them. So a waste of time and money. Despite having told me you cancel anytime within 28 days, they are relying on some small print to say you have to cancel 3 days prior to dispatch (which was day 25) and that their goods cannot be returned under the Distance Selling Act. Clearly they just want people in the door, and then don't want them to cancel and are happy to have discontented customers with unwanted product. Given this, I certainly won't be using them again and I'm going to take it up to my card issuer.

Free box, great. £27 a box, less great. Having to call to cancel and getting a pushy salesperson pretending to be your friend, awful.

Ordered a mixed box of light and dark ales on the introductory promo but only recieved one dark ale out of 8. Beers were nice, but would have preferred a more even mix. The cans are the small size and we feel would be overpriced going forwards at the standard charge. Delivery was a few days late and communication on the run up to xmas was impossible via phone. Box arrived 23rd Dec (ordered 13th Dec) and reply to my delivery queries eventually came through on 31st Dec via facebook message. I replied requesting to cancel my subscription on the same day. I find it odd that you cannot cancel via account options on the website?! Having had no response to my request by the 11th Jan I braved the phoneline again. Luckily I was only on hold for 8 mins this time and my request was processed straight away and the advisor was actually great. All in all a good concept but needs to revise pricing to be more competitive and have more accessible customer service.

Was really unhappy with your use of hemes for a delivery company as they are just terrible plus website not very user friendly however a great call agent called Iannis Barron was fantastic on the phone which is really the only reason you got the two start if not for Iannis Barron that score would be lower

How easy to order: 5/5 Price: 3/5 Delivery 4/5 (Hermes with 4hr slot) Package 5/5 Contacting Support 0/5 (20 minutes waiting, no app, no webform, useless "bot" chat, more like 1952 not 2021) Support usefulness 5/5 (friendly, understanding and professional at the same time - thank you Iannis)

I'd been very happy with my Beer52 experience so far and had been a customer for a number of years. After moving house recently I remembered a little late that I hadn't updated my address. I logged in to Beer52 and found that my order had been packed, but the beers were STILL with their depot. Awesome - surely someone can get this sorted for me, right? I was told there was nothing that could be done about this now that the label had been printed, in spite of the fact that they hadn't actually left yet. They said that I may be able to contact the courier to re-direct the beers to my new address if I contacted them. Upon calling the courier, I was advised that any change of address outside the postcode area WAS possible but that it HAD to be made by the sender. Hermes were very specific on both occasions I contacted them that the address could be changed only on instruction of the sender. Calling Beer52 again, I am told flat out that there is nothing to be done. No option to get Hermes to return the package, no option to get them to redirect it. I was happy to pay any additional costs incurred. Whilst I accept that I updated the address late in the day, I am disappointed by the conflicting advice, and what seems to be a lacklustre effort to even try to help by reaching out to the courier to see if something could be done. Now my beers will be delivered to my old address an hours drive away. I closed my account following this as frankly, it felt like Beer52 made no effort to try and help by contacting the carrier. The fact that I'd been a loyal customer for several years clearly means little to them. A very bitter end to an otherwise good service.

If you see this place anywhere as a 'free sign-up' anywhere, be careful as it will sign you up for a subscription, with no warning of when payment will be taken, and you can't cancel this subscription on the site. You have to call to cancel. Products are very good but it's a bit of a cheeky grab if honest. Make it so that subscriptions can be cancelled on the site please.

No issue with delivery although i think the prices for the beer is a little expensive. The issue is with closing the subscription which cant be done online and is only possible by contacting a number which took 20 min to answer. Not acceptable service and likely to put off anyone thinking of returning.

I was so excited to buy this 6 month delivery for my partner for Xmas. Reviews were good. I bought an extra case to be delivered with the voucher which unfortunately arrived with a soggy bottom. One bottle had broken but leaked all over the magazine, card, voucher etc. I was really disappointed as it wasn't exactly wrappable for xmas day. On complaining to customer service I was offered £3 refund for the bottle that was broken. Not really what I'd expect having just spent over £160. I think the voucher a great gift idea but will be buying elsewhere next time. Customer service pants. Not good enough, very short sighted.

Over priced and poor selection. Chose light beer pack, received bitter stouts etc. Tiny peanut sized snacks that are not worth having. Would avoid and buy from good supermarket instead.

Not keen on having to ring to cancel subscription when it's something that could easily be done online. Making it difficult is just a ploy to convince you not to cancel. Lost my trust. The only reason for two stars is for Douglas on the phone who was very helpful and friendly.

First box never arrived, very unhappy with the need to phone to cancel as it feels like the business model is to keep customers by making it inconvenient for them to cancel, Douglas in customer service was friendly and cancelled my membership quickly after waiting on hold for 5-6 mins

I got a free case as a special offer and only 4 of the beers were drinkable. The others were like alocl pops with adjuncts like fruit favouring in which all ended up down the sink. The others were just bog standard beer and not worth the £3 per bottle it would cost if you paid full price.

I did not like having to wait 20 min to cancel my subscription. We are in 2020... come on. Douglas however was kind and helpful so cheers for that ;)

Apart from the long wait to get through, Douglas was very friendly, calm and helpful. It's a difficult job but he is a really asset to you. About the beer - I'm sure it's lovely but I don't drink!! I signed up through a promo from another website. However, the beer looks interesting and has made great Christmas presents. To be critical - I think the beer is a little expensive for subscription. More importantly I feel the beer choice is a little eclectic. I would think that customers want familiar beers but be able to try something 'out of the box' every so often!!!! It's really credit and great to see you promoting the smaller producers though. Thanks anyway and Merry Christmas.

Misleading offer and issues cancelling. Joining special offer highlights next day delivery, however the first order took 9 days to arrive. Subscribing is very easy online, however cancelling has to be done over the phone if you can get through. I made multiple phone calls where I was informed that I need to call back later and then the phone cuts off. When I did get through I was put on hold in a queue for over 20 minutes.

Nice beer but really terrible service. Why have a button online that says cancel but only directs you to a phone number. So misleading. You can only cancel by phone and they NEVER answer the phone. Surely this isn't legal?

I can't get hold of anyone to cancel my subscription. I'm know first time deals are intended entice new customers but you shouldn't feel trapped and unable to cancel after the first order. It shouldn't be this hard. It's getting a little stressful unfortunately :(
